If We Were Having Coffee on the Fourth of July, Twenty-Twenty

Coffee Share new Hampshire in the Summer

Hello and Welcome!  Pull up a chair here and enjoy the view of the hillside.  It is all green and beautiful.  Yes, not all green – there are plenty of flowers!  It is a gorgeous morning after a very wet week.  So let’s sit here, relax, and just enjoy the moment.  Ah….  Oh, where are we?  Some of you may be able to guess by the photo at the top that we are in New Hampshire this morning.

First, You might not have missed me, but I did not post a coffee share last week.  I took a week off of work and pretty much dropped out of blog-land over the week.  I spent the week on Cape Cod (surprise, surprise ;) ).  It was great!  I took long walks on the beach, kayaked, swam, walked in the woods, relaxed, had fires in the back yard (OK,  in the firepit in the back yard) did work around the house, hired someone to paint the house and someone else came by to look at the barn roof, bought a refrigerator, walked and played with dogs and, well, it was summer vacation!

This week was return to reality ;)

Work was tough.  It rained a lot so I wasn’t out as much as I wanted.  Sigh.  But it was a four day week!

It is the Fourth of July, a big celebration here in the US.  Well, typically, but this year will be toned down quite a bit because of Covid-19.  Still, sometimes a quiet day is good.

I posted a piece of music from my  past, the first movement of my Piano Sonata in g minor.  The response has been great.  I am thinking about putting out a (download only) CD of some of my piano music from my classical composition days.

Take a listen (yes, it was composed when I was studying the music of the early 19th century in general and Beethoven in particular):

Anyway, it is a beautiful day and the outdoors are calling.  No the outdoors are screaming for me to get my lazy, computer tied butt out there!  So I am going out to take a long walk.  Thanks for stopping by!  If you have a coffee post I will try to visit, but I make no promises – Since I sit in front of a computer all day for work, I sometimes hate being in front of a computer when I am not at work!

The coffee share is hosted over on Eclectic Alli.  The link to join is here.

Hi Trent. My son, Connor Wilson, has put out two albums of his music and he uses CD Baby. It’s inexpensive and they more than earn his keeping them for any next effort. I too had a paid holiday for the 4th, but one customer just couldn’t not break something so I lost part of the day. Such is work life. On the other hand, I did get enough free time to cut a new story and man, that felt great for a change.

I put out an album a few years ago, The Hamlet Symphony, and used CD Baby. I’ll go that way again for this, but have heard a few complaints from other musicians, so may research it more if I plan on doing anything else in the future. I may stick with them, since I am already there, but… Glad your son had a positive experience with them. I got the name form a soprano I follow after she put out a CD a few years ago.

Sorry you had to work over the fourth weekend. Kind of sucks. Glad you had time for a new story, though.

      Have a great week!

I spent the fourth more or less alone all day, so any company would have made my day. It was a beautiful day here and the farm fresh greens made a perfect dinner.

wow the piano thingie pretty neat, it was playing as I was reading your post and I think I am typing my laptop keyboard in time to the music and its faster than I can type…. or maybe its distracting as I am nodding my head along
    Happy 4th and all

I hope you enjoyed your walk and the beautiful day. Is it as beautiful today? I hope so. It is raining here, but we are enjoying that :) it’s been so hot and the rain is welcome. We’ll see if I still think so next weekend, it is suppose to rain all week :) Happy 4th of July!

It was a nice day yesterday. Today started off foggy and damp, but blue skies after the sun burned it all off. I’ll only complain a little about it raining all week last week – it’s been dry, so we needed it. I hope you had a great weekend and have a wonderful week ahead :)

I am glad you were able to take some time off and enjoy Cape Cod last week. Finding reliable people to do home repairs can be a challenge sometimes. Great music you are very talented.

Thanks Sonia. Last year, when we bought the house, we could not find anyone to do work, so it is nice that it is finally getting done. I get a lot of time off at work, it’s just finding time to take it…

We have hired people that did great work at a good price and then we have hired people who charged to much and did a awful job. Right now we need some sheetrock repair from the AC leaking this summer and new screens made for the entire house. I am not looking forward to finding the people and may stick to Home Advisors or Angie’s list this time.

I LOVE your Piano Sonata, oh my, you are so talented and I love classical music. I grew up playing it and hearing it played on all the album’s my parents had. My dad was an accomplished pianist, so talented he had to decide concert pianist as a profession? Or physician? He chose doctor and ended up as a psychiatrist/neurologist as his profession. We have a baby grand piano, it’s actually an antique called a parlor grand. It’s in disrepair now, very costly to be rebuilt. Sorry to go on so, your music invokes so many WONDERFUL memories!! ❤️ I also totally understand not wanting to be in front of a computer when that’s your job too…. Thank you for the time you do spend with us, as I know I do enjoy your shares! Happy 4th!! 😀

Thanks! I have a beat up old piano, actually more of a spinet, but these days I spend 99% of my time on electronics, except for when I want to practice – the piano is much better for practice.

I hope you are doing well this weekend :) Happy 4th!
