Yesterday I was involved in some pretty risky business. I went out on a limb in a way I haven’t in ages.
I went out for a hair cut.
Now look at the photo at the top of the page. If you are old enough, you may know where the statement “Oh say can you see, My eyes, If you can, The my hair’s too short!” comes from. Yes, I felt like a character from the musical Hair.
OK, when combed, it doesn’t look bad. Well, in my opinion.
But it did keep falling into my eyes. And Zoom meetings with executives was a little, well, I guess if I put it into a man bun, but I didn’t…
So I participated in very risky behavior, I went out to have my hair cut.
A long story there (may talk about it later). Let’s just say that I have not seen the person who cut my hair in a decade.
For various reasons, we had a room to ourselves, so relatively safe. And they followed all of the laws about cleaning, masks, etc. So my risk wasn’t really that high.
Anyway, here is the after:
What do you think? Worth the risk? (OK, the picture is a little blurry…)
I hope you all have a great weekend :)
Kind of like the sheepdog look ;)

I like your new hairdo as your face shows. Who wants to talk to a bush.😊. Mind you, you mind have looked good in a pony tail..
I am finally going to the hair dresser end this month but have kept my fringe at bay on my own.

Thanks, Miriam. I thought about a little ponytail, at least for when I didn’t want it billowing out. And I did small trims on my sideburns and in front of my ears, but I didn’t trust going into areas too visible, like my bangs…

The hair cut looks great. I bet it wasn’t much longer than 15 minutes, which lowers the risk, plus having the place to yourselves.

Thanks. I have seen a chart that puts getting a haircut close to the top of risky behavior, but the precautions were pretty good, so I’m not too worried.

I have too, but I wonder if that’s for longer appointments in a busy venue. Your hair won’t get in your eyes now, easier to write!

I haven’t watched that musical in years, a risk that paid off, you look great. Good idea doing it when your weather is warmer.(chilly ears otherwise). My sons lets his hair grow a bit like yours did & my hair elastics go missing, his boss nags him he, son gets a hair cut & all is right with the world again, haha. They’ll be ga ga at the go go…

Thanks. I picked now more for my eyesight (I constantly had hair in my eyes) than for ear warmth, but there is that… I had actually thought about a ponytail or man-bun for when I was in on-line meetings with the executive-types. As long as I didn’t turn my head, they wouldn’t know ;) Bu now I am with your son, all is right with the world again ;)

Looks great! Much more businesslike. Not that I mind long hair on a man, but you know. I want to get mine cut! My daughters have convinced me to wait…

Thank! I just rescues this out of spam, and so I now know the rest of the story = your daughters might have convinced you to wait about going out for one, but you still did the home cut :)

I didn’t get the reference to Hair until you mentioned it on Instagram, Trent. I haven’t seen that one. Your hair looks nice short.

The music from Hair was very popular for a long time after the play debuted. Some of the original cast members formed a band a released many of the songs under a different name. I was a preschooler when I heard it, but it always stuck with me. I did see a revival of the play I think in 1998 or 1999. Thanks!

Worth the risk! I know how annoying it can be when hair falls on the face! Also, with the extreme precautions everyone’s taking these days, this is probably the safest time!!!!! 😉 Well done!

A week or so ago someone posted guidelines that showed the risk of different activities. Getting a hair cut was pretty high up on the list, i.e., one of the riskier ones. But, with the precautions, shouldn’t be too bad. Yeah, constantly pushing the hair out of eyes was getting bothersome! Thanks.

Over here going for a haircut means 1. you’re the only customer, 2. the hairdresser is wearing a mask and a visor and gloves. As for the brushes / scissors etc, they all come out from a sterilizing booth and before any other customer enters they sterilize the place. A painstaking procedure for those people but I think you can …safely say, it’s safe! ;-) I do have however my reservations on too much sterilizing as it lowers the immune system, but that’s another story!
Cheers to a lovely haircut! ;-)

I was in my own room, but she said that was temporary (a past hair stylist I used just opened a new place, and still adjusting). She said they were trying to figure out a way to have curtains between chairs once everyone has to be out in the open. She wiped down the chair with disinfectant between customers and combs, scissors, etc where in a disinfectant bath when not in use. She wore a mask, but not a shield. i wore a mask except when she needed to trim around my ears. Pretty safe, and much safer than in one big open room with customers not in mask!
Thanks!

Thanks. Since we were pretty meticulous in following rules, hopefully it was a pretty low risk, but I’ll know for sure in the next 14 days! You too, stay safe :)

Totally worth the risk and I think you were relatively safe with the precautions in place. I cut my own hair or have my hubby do it since it’s so long. Lol 🤣 as long as I can either braid it or put it in a pony tail I’m a happy camper!! Love the new you!! 😀

Thanks. I wasn’t too worried, but it is considered a high risk. I did think about doing a little ponytail, or man-bun, but not for long ;) Being able to do it at home helps, I’m sure.

It was worth the risk :) I cut my own hair the last time I got a haircut. I put it all in a ponytail and cut it off, I did take down some rebellious side stragglers afterwards. LOL. This virus offers us great opportunities to step out of our comfort zone.

Thanks. Yeah, I am not brave enough to do a home-haircut, though I did trim a little on a few occasions – very little! That would be too far outside of my comfort zone, though cool that you were able to push it that far.
