Hi all. With all of the bad news out there, I hope have something to smile about. Well I have a smile for you. Wait, if you act now, I have two smiles for the price of one! You don’t even have to pay separate postage and handling.
The first smile is that I got a hair cut. So what? Well, it had been over five months since my last one, so I was getting a bit shaggy.
OK, a picture of the long hair that is little more serious ;)
Here is the new hair.
The next smile is that I spent most of the day yesterday outside, including a short hike. I didn’t see any other people and the woods. The water of the small lake was nice. The trees are always welcome. I did a small spur to a small hilltop. Not a big climb for New Hampshire (the run I do three times a week has a much, much bigger climb!), but very nice. I love being outside and communing with nature, sot he hike, short and flat as it was, hit the spot :)
My smile for this week was a combination getting a hair cut after five months and doing a short hike.
What made you smile?
****
Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week. Why don’t you share it? I hope you can join in!
Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas. If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity. Don’t smile about the misfortune of others. Don’t smile in a way to excludes others. Make sure a 12 year old can read it.
To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile. Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ). You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me). Next week I will compile all of the Smiles and do a separate post of them on Monday morning just before the smile. (I will shoot for around 7 AM EST).
Hey, Shaggy, were’s Scooby? That first photo… lol

lol, yep, his name is “Fiyero”, not “Scooby”, but is still pretty goofy ;)

I just spent 3 days in northern Michigan so I have plenty to smile about. Don’t have time to get that all ready by tomorrow, though, so will just share one picture for one smile for now. I was hardly inside at all for the entire time, including being happy to be my friends’ first overnight guest to use their new outside screened bunkhouse. It was fabulous!

So it was a step yup from camping in your back yard ;) (When my brother’s family visited my parents, they set up tents in the back yard). Sounds nice! I’m sure you did stay outside as much as possible.

I wish you could talk my son into getting his hair cut. It is a little longer than yours at the front! Maybe I will show him your new hairdo. It might inspire him? I have been baking cakes again. Carrot and Cardamon cake makes me smile! https://seachange.home.blog/2020/07/18/not-your-average-carrot-cake/

I’m assuming your son looks like Cousin Itt at this point. You can show him my before and after. If he is inspired by some old guy, maybe it would work.,, I’ll be by in a few to check out your smile :)

Cousin It? Absolutely! Lol! I do wish he would cut it but he is worried he is going bald – he is 30 and wants to keep it long for a potential hair transplant! I think he is crazy and would look and feel much better with a shorter style….

Thanks, Y! My original post of the first picture was “Oh say can you see, my eyes, if you can, then my hairs to short!” Some people got the reference, but many didn’t ;) (If you can’t think of it, the musical Hair)

I got the song right away and it plays in my mind with the hair words too – lol

OK, so I had to put on the soundtrack (found on line…) I saw either the 25 or 30 year revival of the musical. It was in Boston, but the Broadway cast that did the revival. it was really good! Now I just have to visit Woodstock, like some people I know ;)

I hope you get to visit Woodstock – I think i mentioned we almost “passed” on going that day. and oh my goodness, so glad we did make the short drive – felt iconic to be there and the people watching was priceless

Nice haircut. My wife cuts my hair and I cut hers. So I have not been without a haircut for lack of a barber. Long, long ago I even cut my own hair. I thought it looked great, but I remember no unbiased opinion of that.

I did do a very, very small amount of trimming (my sideburns), but no way would I trust myself, or my wife for that matter, with cutting my hair…
