Hi!  It was a strange week.  Well, it was strange in how mundane it was ;)  I did go to the dentist, which I am not going to call a smile!  Beyond that, I didn’t do a lot or go anywhere.  Hmmm.

I did spend a huge amount of time outside over the weekend, particularly on Saturday.  Nothing special, but sitting outside, reading outside, eating outside, talking to neighbors outside (having a little neighbor girl follow me around on a few walks, walking the dogs (most walks were without the dogs since it was too hot for them), chasing dogs through the woods behind my house, mowing the lawn, running (yes, in the heat), and just hanging out in general.  It reminded me of when I was a kid and pretty much was only inside to sleep all summer.  As an adult there is too much happening inside. There is the computer, waiting like a spider in its web, trying to trap me.  But I escaped and made it outside!

I also downloaded about 5 months of photos from my camera to my computer.  I didn’t take much time to go through the almost 1000 photos, but I did grab this, which I thought it was cute – a hard day at the office for momma osprey only to come home to the crying children:

So that was my smile for the week, being outside all day on Saturday and looking at this photo.

    What do your dogs do when they run across a possum, raccoon or armadillo? In the woods around here, those are things you will frequently see. The AC circuit board went out that cost 800 for just the part smart ACs are very costly and not so smart LOL.

      Rabbits are chased, as are squirrels and chipmunks…. Not often, though, except for the chipmunks. The chippies drive them crazy. This year they saw a baby raccoon, and luckily I was able to grab them before they got too close. There are possums around here, and I see them on occasion, but never had a run in. Same with fox, and for the most part, raccoons. i think it is because of time of day (not night…) Our last dog, Elliot, had two run ins with a skunk. Again, late evening, so we are careful that time of day. And we have had a couple of short sprints after deer, but not often, and they are usually short bursts and then the dogs come right back. Armadillo? Not much of a problem around here… ;) Sorry about the AC. Sounds awful. I’ve been doing a lot of repairs on the houses, so know what fun it is… not.

        We had the armadillo here but it moved on Zoee kept pouncing at it but never hurt it.
        We have possums on and off they come out at dusk to eat the cat food that’s out so I try and be careful with the amounts I leave out. Never seen a raccoon here we have squirrels and they take cover when they see the dogs. Zoee has this new thing about birds flying in her backyard she does not like it and we have lots of birds she jumps up trying to fly with them.

      Oh, just remembered… Years ago, when I was in college, my sister sent a puppy down to my uncle, who lived a little north of Dallas. I spent about 6 or 8 months in the Dallas area and visited often. That dog, named “Cleveland”, liked to chase roadrunners. No matter what my uncle and aunt called him, I took to calling him “Wile E” ;) just had to make sure he wasn’t buying anything from Acme.

          Out of curiosity, I just looked it up and it shows their range all over Texas and most of OK. My uncle must have lived in place where they were more common. I didn’t see any armadillo around his house, but saw them when driving when I lived down there.

            I think in Texas especially the critters have places they like more than other places. I know most people here do not realize that at the beaches there are rattlesnakes in the sand dunes.

              lol, I don’t think it would make a good tourism slogan: Come to Texas, where you can find rattlesnakes on the beach ;) (I know, in the dunes, but…)

                I never knew this and we always went up in the dunes looking for treasures. Our oldest son was working on some power lines near the beach and he said they saw quite a few. That was it for me no more playing in the dunes.

      I do love to be outside. Since we don’t have AC, when it is usually more comfortable outside than in on these really hot days. Not that I will complain about being outside! Thanks.

          AC is very bad for the environment, and for the most art I don’t like it – the air “tastes” different, and is uncomfortable. But then, so is trying to sleep when it is over 30C and super high humidity ;)

              Over here, about everyone who lives south of me uses AC, particularly when you get down to the Carolinas and Florida. Even here most people have started to use it, which I think is awful – there are only a handful of really uncomfortable days a year, can’t you survive? I know you are so much warmer there, so it surprises me a bit that you don’t have it, though I give you a huge thumbs up.

                  yes, the humidity makes it so much worse. When going for a run, it is much easier to run on a hot, dry day than on a relatively cool but super humid day. And nights get cooler when the humidity breaks.

      The week was semi-productive – I think ;) One of those weeks that is just a blur. I know I’ve seen it already, but I’ll go check out your smile again :)
