Listen
Gold and Green
Living, breathing
Center of the wood
Heartbeat of the forest
Holding Earth’s ancient wisdom
Towers of organic knowledge
What would you tell me if I could hear?
Eldest oak
To a young sapling
Growing truth

This was written for Colleen’s weekly poetry challenge. This week the challenge was in the form of a quote (chosen by Sue Vincent):
“Trees are sanctuaries. Whoever knows how to speak to them, whoever knows how to listen to them, can learn the truth.” Herman Hesse
I chose to do a reverse nonet followed by a 3/5/3 haiku to make a tree :)
Photo was taken a few weeks ago from my back yard looking up the hill behind my house into the woods
Great poem, and I love the photo!

Lovely, trent! I love the line, ‘Holding Earth’s Ancient Wisdom.’ Yes, it’s so true. :D xo

The trees whispered their magic to you! Brilliant nonet and I love the idea of adding the haiku as the trunk. You’re so creative! <3
