Hello and Welcome! Come on back into the back yard. I know, it looks like a construction zone. Well, it is a construction zone.. Anyway, we can sit here and look off towards the water, though the trees are in the way. Later we can take a walk down to the landing, but for now I will get you a nice large mug of very strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or some other beverage. Well, it is almost noon and warm, so perhaps a cool beverage would be better. Were are we? Some may recognize the photo at the top as being from Cape Cod.
OK, so I am on Cape Cod this weekend. i came down here on Wednesday. I’ve been on the kayak a couple of times. In fact, I did a very long paddle this morning. I saw osprey and seals, among other critters. I’ve also been swimming a couple of times.
It has been hot and steamy this week. Very humid. Not the most comfortable, but then, it is that time of year. As we enter August, i can look forward to cooler nights.
Oh, the construction zone thing? Yeah. The house is being painted. I know, what’s new? It is pretty much one person working alone, so it is taking a very long time. But he is doing everything right, including grinding the old paint down to the wood, so… It is looking great.
We are also having work done on the barn. They just finished the roof and will do windows and siding next. A lot of equipment around, a big dumpster, etc. Hopeful all work will be done in a couple of weeks. of course a major storm may hit this week, which will push things back a little.
It was a busy week. Not as much exercise as usual, since it was so hot and steamy. Work was busy. Writing and reading and such.
Well, I am going to wash the salty water off. Yeah, the kayak ride and be wet. And then it will be time for lunch.
Thanks for stopping by! If you have a coffee share, I will try to stop by!
have a great weekend.
The coffee share is hosted over on Eclectic Alli. The link to join is here.

Cape Cod sounds to be one of the great places to be on hot steamy days. Enjoy.

It is a great place on a hot day. Well, a mixed bag :) Being on and near the water is great! But it is typically much more humid than the land farther from the ocean and the temperatures don’t go down as far at night. But to me, it is worth it :)

I think the storm has weakened a bit. Good news for me, but not people in the Carolinas, is it will go inland and not hit Cape Cod. I might see it in New Hampshire, but it will mostly be rain by then.

OY… two of my siblings live inland, but they are up, so they shouldn’t flood.

I wish I learned and had an opportunity to kayak. Sounds like a blast. Someday I’ll have to rent one?! It’s great to get that facelift done on your house and it must be fun to see the progress each time you return! Stay cool, and thanks for the ice tea! 😃

The great thing about kayaking is pretty much anybody can do it. I see kids, and older people, athletic people and people who, uhm, are not…. The facelift of the house is nice. I can’t wait until it is done, or at least this phase. Have a great week!

done right – construction around the home can be fun. I love watching projects in process even though I’m not particularly clever with it all myself.

It is interesting to watch it, though I will be glad when I have my yard back ;) Since this is my second home (and some day retirement home), I am not watching every day, so in that way it is cool to see the progress when I’m gone.
I hope your weekend is going well. I also hope to stop by your coffee share later tonight :)

How cool to see seals in the wild! I’ve only ever seen them in a zoo. Are they very shy of people or will they sit and watch you? We are also hoping for a break in the heat down here. Enjoy your week. I hope the construction goes well.

It is very cool to see the seals. For the most part they are very shy,but they will watch people, so they are curious. Not just watch people, the one today was sniffing, I guess to try to figure out what I was. As to the weather, are looking at getting hit be a tropical storm this week? i think it will pass over Cape Cod. So far the construction is going very well, but I am looking forward to it being done…

The outside of the house is looking great. The inside? Well – actually, some of the old features are great, but the wallpaper from the 1950s, not so much ;) I hope your weekend is going well. Thanks for joining me for coffee. I’ll be by in a few to join you :)

What a great feeling to be part of nature. I love how kayaks make me feel I’m in the water, almost swimming.

Yes, they make you almost a part of the water, instead of “above it all”, as some people in boats seem to feel.
