Hi all! I hope you had a great week and a wonderful weekend. I spent a few days on Cape Cod and found plenty to smile about. Hmm. But what should I pick for my Weekly smile? A seal watching as I kayak?
A young osprey about to fledge?
When I came back, it was sitting on a dead tree near the nest!!
How about a baby hummingbird?
A few weeks ago I talked about hearing a commotion outside of my window. A tiny hummingbird was chasing all of the bigger birds away. I finally saw it go into its golf-ball sized nest! I didn’t have my good camera, so no good photos. Well, this week I had my good camera and so got a few photos, like this of the mother (mostly invisible on the far side of the nest) feeding the two young chicks (you cans see tail feathers of second chick):
Pretty cool, right?
So that is my smile, seeing, and photographing, baby hummingbirds! OK, and other great things on Cape Cod!
What made you smile?
****
Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week. Why don’t you share it? I hope you can join in!
Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas. If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity. Don’t smile about the misfortune of others. Don’t smile in a way to excludes others. Make sure a 12 year old can read it.
To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile. Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ). You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me). Next week I will compile all of the Smiles and do a separate post of them on Monday morning just before the smile. (I will shoot for around 7 AM EST).
Very cool, both the hummers and the osprey!

Having plenty of books is important, particularly if there is a lock down or other reason to stay inside…

I liked that hummingbird. I also liked how both you and the seal were looking at each other.

The seals are very curious about kayaks. They will occasionally pop up behind me, but go under the moment I turn to see them, only to pop up someplace off to one side or the other… Baby hummingbirds are cool :)

That seal seems to have a lot on its mind. I hope you stopped and chatted. Take care and have a great week.

The seal does seem a little preoccupied, but he is actually paying very close attention. Very curious about these odd critters that were sharing the river with him or her….
