Hello and Welcome. Let’s go back and sit down here and enjoy the breeze. It is a little cooler and less humid than it has been, but the breeze still feels great. The noise? Oh, yeah, there are people working on the house and barn right now. Those big bundles are siding shingles, but they still have prep-work. We can ignore the workers and I’ll get you a nice large mug of very strong coffee, some tea or some other beverage. It is getting later and warmer, so I can get you something cool if you would rather. Were are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as being from Cape Cod.
This week has been pretty good. There were a few very hot days, but this has been a hot summer, and it hasn’t been too out of bounds for August. One good thing is that we had a little cooler weather and the nights aren’t bad, so I won’t complain too much. I will say that there are reasons I live in New Hampshire and Massachusetts instead of Florida!
Work was pretty busy. i had a lot of meetings late in the day, so the afternoons were crazy. Oh, I put up a post about my day job. You can check it out here if you haven’t already seen it. It will let you know a little bit about what I am doing when I say that I was busy at work.
OK, I will admit something. I have been doing my massage recently, including this week. I’d be a mess if I didn’t. The number of new Covid-19 cases in my town has been at zero for months. My region has been very low. NH had a string of days this week with zero new cases, and the majority of cases we have had have been in two or three cities. My risk is about zero, but there is still a risk. Our state is open for massage therapy and my massage therapist follows all of the precautions, so, yeah, I’m not a mess: Thanks Dottie. Oops, sorry, thanks Anaya! :)
I drove down to The Cape on Wednesday and worked from here the last two days. The exterior painting is almost complete, though he found a few nasty, rotted places, so the people doing my barn are also doing a little work on the house. A lot of work has been done on the barn, like a new roof, a new sill on one side, some wood replaced, new windows and other stuff. They are almost to the point of putting up the new shingle siding.
However, a few issues popped up inside :( Oh well, I needed to get some people in here anyway, I just need to do it sooner.
I got up very early this morning and went running. Later I went kayaking. It was as rough as I’d ever seen it, but it is still great to get out, even if a little scary.
And now I have dogs whining at me because they think they need to go outside ;) OK, they were last out at 6:30 and it is now 10:30, so four hours, so I guess they do need to go out.
With that, I am going to stop and mosey on.
Thanks for stopping by! If you have a coffee share, I will try to stop in and say hi.
Have a great weekend.
The coffee share is hosted over on Eclectic Alli. The link to join is here.
Sounds great :)

The nail salons are safely operating. Although I don’t find mani and pedi a treat or must, the eyebrows finally got a much needed scape and shape.

Funny, I was just reading your post when this popped up :) The massage is more of a need than a treat in many ways – I do get super stiff and sore if I don’t have a regular massage. I’m sure missing things like the eyebrow trimming for so long it must feel, and look, great to have it done again.

I’m glad you got to kayak even though the water was a bit choppy! I love old barns, you’ll have to share it’s facelift when it’s complete! Thanks so much for the coffee! 😀

You can be sure I will post an after photo of the barn (I don’t have any good before photos). Thanks for stopping by.

A good therapeutic massage sounds amazing. Getting anxious going to and from work and then doing a lot of precautions in between leaves me with tight muscles at the end of the day. The cases from where I live (Philippines) are in the double digits but it’s also a big city. However, it’s only going to be a matter of time before it escalates unless we do some drastic measures. I’m glad you have little to zero risk from where you are. it does bring a secure thought when that’s going on. Weather here is mostly in the 30’s with rainvshowers within the day. My plants are loving it. Keep safe and thanks for the coffee share.

Before I started to do massage I was almost always a mess – I was tight, had lots of aches and pains, and, yes, the stress made it worse. Most people around here are still taking it pretty seriously – we’ve seen other places start to recover only to have it hit again, so most are still taking all of the precautions, like masks, social distancing, only going out for essentials, etc. :)

Good for you. Self care is truly important during this time. Unplugging from social media news gives me a bit of respite from the stress, and playing with my nephew. Keep safe.

I’m so glad the number of COVID cases has been so low in NH and zero even where you are. I’m also relieved to hear your massage therapist still practises safety guidelines.

Besides being very rural, I think a lot of people around here took it very serious, so we were able to keep the numbers down. And I hope that since most people are still taking it serious, like those precautions my massage therapist takes, they will stay low. Of course, you never know, but I try to be safe in all I do, so… I hope you are doing well and staying safe :)

Sounds like a good week scary kayaking and all! Curious, what do you use your barn for? Do you have animals or is it more like a really big garage? The weather here has been better the past few days, thankfully and we have been able to be outside more. Thanks for the coffee. Enjoy the next week.

The barn is storage space, but part of it might be converted into three-season living space eventually. (My barn in NH is 100% storage space). These barns, built 175 years or more ago, were part of the houses when everyone had horses, so not really “farm” barns, just garages before cars… The week was pretty good :)

I think barns in general are very fascinating and architecturally pleasing. I’ve been thinking it would be nice to do a painting of one. We see some lovely old dilapidated barns whenever we drive through the Lancaster Pennsylvania area. I’ll have to stop and take some photos.

There is something about old barns. I know a lot of people who photograph them, and a painting could be cool.

I’m so happy that it is reasonably safe where you live now. Are the schools going to open? How great that you get all this exercise in even when it’s so hot out! Enjoy the warmth while it lasts :) I hope the work on your house is going in the direction you want. May the rest of your weekend be fabulous!

I don’t think our local schools have totally decided what they are going to do, even though they are supposed to open in a week or two. The town I live in gave parents a choice, but I think it fell flat and they are still working out the details. I think some type of rotating schedule (home/in class) would work well for the older kids, but there are parents that want 100% in class and others that don’t want their kids near the schools. I understand both sides….
I do like the hot weather at all, but I have acclimated somewhat. For my weight exercise, using the fans properly really helps, and with running, I don’t feel too bad until I stop. I mostly hate the heat when I am not doing something or when I am trying to sleep…
You too, have a good the rest of your weekend :)

Here, about an hour north of San Francisco, we’re still seeing quite a bit of covid problems, so we stay hunkered down mostly. I’m so looking forward to this being just another piece of history.

Besides the massage, I am still pretty careful – I go out very little, always wear a mask, no eating out, no crowds, only meeting friends outside,no unnecessary store visits and 100% telework (which I did before Covid-19). But I would much rather be outside far from any people, or inside, far from any people (ultra-Introvert), so it is easy for me ;) Yep, can’t wait until it is history.

Here in Michigan we’re doing better then, say, California or Florida, but we’re still no way close to zero new cases. So I’m still staying in other than my camping adventures where I don’t talk to anyone and spend my time alone. Your projects sound intense, redoing a barn is pretty amazing, bet it will be beautiful when it’s done. Of course any barn is beautiful to me. Hope you had a good walk with the dogs!

Even with our low numbers, I am still very careful. I wear my mask, stay away from people, don’t eat out, etc. I’m sure I will post photos when it is done. The dogs did have a good walk, and I plan on taking them again soon.
