Hi all. This last week has been a pretty good for me. I know looking at the world, well, not so good. But, hey, that is what the weekly smile is about, isn’t it, to forget floods and fires for a minute or two.
As I said, I had a pretty good week, but nothing huge stood out. OK, maybe one thing, the weather. This has been a hot summer, much warmer than typical New Hampshire. One thing about NH is that no matter how hot it is, we will usually have cool nights. Not so much this year. Until last week.
Sure, it will be up over 90 F/ 32 C today, but last week was nice and cool. In fact, it was down right cold a few mornings, down to the low 50s F (just over 10 C). Can you say perfect sleeping weather?
More than having a food night’s sleep, the dogs loved, loved it. They had been moping around lately, but they were super active last week. They wanted to be out 24×7. I had a lot of meetings, so we couldn’t be out all day, but I was out with them every chance I got. There was a lot of play time in the woods and on the hill behind my house, much more than in months. There were several long walks a day, up to six walks one day! I am talking walks between 2/3 and a full mile (1 – 1.6 km) each. And sometimes they just wanted to be out and sleep in the sun. And so I sat and worked in the shade and let sleeping dogs lay ;)
So that is my smile, a little bit of Autumn in mid-August and the happy dogs (and humans) that it produced.

Ooh, nice and cool! I agree, perfect sleeping weather. And like your dogs that get more energy, so do my horses when it cools off. I am really looking forward to Fall! Great smile! :D Here is my smile post:

I’m sure your horses do like the cool weather better. We all do ;) It was back to being hot Monday and Tuesday, and the dogs hated it, but loved the cooler Wednesday. I’ll be by to see your smile in a few minutes :)

Though I didn’t get to play as much with the dogs but managed a nature walk over the weekend, amidst azure skies. And the skies these days are a sight to behold.

I sometimes manage two walks per day, but with six in a day it seems the dogs really wanted to get out.

Yep, 6 AM (right after doggy breakfast, 9 AM, 12 noon (after lunch, 2:30 PM, 5 PM (after puppy dinner) and 7 PM (after my dinner)…. I usually don’t do the early morning walk, but typically do 3 or 3 walks a day with the dogs, even in the rain. I’d do more if I could! I’d much rather be outside than in, and the dogs agree 100% when it isn’t too hot (I walk alone on super hot days).
