If We Were Havign Coffee on the 5th of September, 2020

Coffee on Cape Cod

Hello and Welcome!  Come on over and sit at the table!  It is a gorgeous day.  Yesterday was warm and very humid, so sticky.  Today is cooler and the humidity has gone down quite bit.  There is a nice breeze, but not too windy. Here, let me get you a nice large mug of a very strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage.  Where are we?  Some may recognize that back yard photo as being on Cape Cod.

Some of you may remember that I was on “The Cape” last weekend as well.  Guess what?  I have been here every day in between.  Not just that, I had time off of work, so it was a kind of “staycation”.  It did rain Wednesday and Thursday, but overall a nice time down here.

I kayaked a bit, and plan to go out the second I finish our coffee chat.  I did some very long walks on my favorite beach and went to another beach for swimming.  I took walks in the woods. There were shorter walks with the dogs, and without – little Idinia did not want to walk mush, just sniff around the yard.  I played with the dogs in the back yard.

It wasn’t all play.  The person who painted ground all of the old paint down to the wood, so there was a huge amount of dust everywhere.  I’ve been cleaning dust.  I have been doing a little other cleaning and a lot of organizing.  I have been making rooms into real rooms instead of jumbled messes of furniture.  I’ve been doing some work outside of the house and in the barn and a lot of planning.  I visited the appliance store (we need all new appliances).  The people there still owe me a call back :(  I called and they said they would get back to me.

I did relax a bit and it was, overall, a good week off.  My parents were supposed to visit, but they had things come up, so couldn’t make.  Hopefully they’ll be able to in the next month or so.  They haven’t been able to visit in two years and it was early summer 2019 the last time I was able to go there.

Anyway, the wild waves are calling, so I need to get going.  Thanks for stopping by!

If you have a coffee share, I will try to stop in and say hi.

Have a great weekend.

The coffee share is hosted over on Eclectic Alli.  The link to join is here.

Yeah, we ordered the fridge back in June. It was supposed to come in last week, but was delayed again. We were checking to see if it was possible to get something bigger, though we’d still take the one we ordered (better something than nothing),but haven’t heard. And then we were looking at washer and drier, but had tight restrictions – he was going to see what can be done, and again, we know we might wait. And the oven is just waiting for the rest, but they know what we want…

Some of the factories closed for a few weeks, and it is taking months to catch back up again. I understand, and not expecting any special service, but… I wonder when life will return to almost normal?

      Hope you are doing well!

Some things are good, and others are still just odd… Cool about your book. I have one almost ready to go, but am waiting for my beta-readers (it’s been several months…) Sure, I’d be honored to read your new book :)

Some appliances seem to be hard to come by right now. Especially freezers we have been trying to get a 2nd one for a few months. Lowes tell me they have not had any in months. Best buys whole store was picked over when I went in there to get a network extender.

I ordered a new fridge three months ago. It was supposed to be in last week, but it has slipped to an undetermined date. Other appliances might be easier, but maybe not. Some are in stock, but not what I’m looking for…. The store manager was going to check some things, but when I called back, he said call later. Still nothing. I don’t need it tomorrow, I just want on a list ;)

Appliances seem like a weird thing to be out of but all the stores here are out of certain things. Especially a freezer I just need a 2nd one for our garden vegetables. I have been looking since April.

What the guy at the appliance store said is that they shut down production for only a few weeks (he made it sound like less than a month), but they are still back order and won’t be caught up for a while. That was refrigerators, so I am assuming freezers as well.

I could understand if a few factories were shut down for a month or so due to covid but this has been going on for so long. It will be interesting to see what happens on the appliance mystery.

It is amazing that a few weeks would screw up the delivery so much that it makes me wonder if there was something else. But then, restarting a factory is never quick and easy, so maybe more delays there…

Sounds like a work staycation! But being able to concentrate on one major thing gives the mind a reprieve. And humidity! Today was so humid and hot (91) Jim’s clothes were almost literally dripping when he came in after working for an hour+ in the back yard.

    Have a good week!

I did try to take things easy, so, work, yes, but a lot of play in between :) Glad it wasn’t quite that hot here, but mid-80s and super humid was bad enough. You too, have a great week!

Its amazing how much more motivated we are to take care of home stuff when the humidity lifts. We are deciding on paint shades for outside furniture. But an ocean walk is always perfect.

We have been looking at paint shades for inside for a while… I am very much an autumn person – give me cool with no humidity and I’m there. I just drag on those humid days,. Yesterday I spent a lot of time outside, which felt a lot nicer than in! Even the big house with a lot of windows gets stuffy. But I did get a lot done, even on the rainy days :) Thanks for stopping by. I hope your weekend is going well.
