This was written for Colleen’s Weekly Poetry Challenge. This week was a photo challenge. the photo at the top was provided by Lisa Thompson, a photo by Wolfgang Hasselmann found on Unsplash. This week I chose a haiku. I used the three different forms to say the same thing (6/7/6, 3/5/3 and 2/3/2).
Cool with all three being shown.

This is a delightfully timed read, having discovered just this morning some annoying–or was it, in light of this post, delightful?–mushrooms growing where family and I expected only sprouts of green. :)

I do have mushrooms invade the lawn too often. At least they are easy to pluck and toss away, hopefully without harming any resident fairies ;)

It read like my brain works lots of detail then just as it is. I always see fairyland in everything & the muppet characters in humanity. haha

We all need to see magic or fairies in everything, but I think you are giving humans too much credit if you see muppet characters in humanity ;)

Hi Trent. As a hopeless romantic, I much prefer the fairyland option!

I like the combination of forms. Ending with the 3/2/3 gives the work a note of finality. Love it!

Thanks! In some ways having all three forms together seemed to work right here.

Well done, Trent! Which of the forms do you like best? The traditional or the more modern shorter syllable haiku? I guess I’m strange, but I like all of them. And, Chel Owen’s comment is hysterical! LOL! :D

Thanks, Colleen! In same ways I like the traditional, but there is something about the middle one.. I agree, it was a great comment by Chelsea :D

I’m sure there is one… at least in my imagination.

I love how you’ve created the various perspectives, Trent. The middle is my favorite. Awesome job with the variety of syllabic rules.
p.s. thanks for the mention!

Thanks! I’m so used to doing the traditional 5/7/5 that I like to experiment. You are welcome re: the mention – I wanted to be sure to credit where the photo came from.

I prefer the first one, and I like the different perspectives you drew out there.
Best wishes,

The first one is the more conventional one, but today many consider it “old fashioned”. The other two are more modern takes.
