When fears come alive
The immense unknown spreads forth
Wonder fills the mind
From ancient times until now
Distant stars fill us with awe

This was written for Colleen’s Weekly Poetry Challenge. This week we were given a theme, The Night Sky. I chose to do a tanka using the theme, and also titled my poem with the theme :)

Beautifully written. The star’s mysterious nature will always have a grip on the curious and imaginative.

Thanks. I think even when we have found ways to travel to them, the stars will always hold a bit of magic to our minds.

Now do a humorous haiku on the seasons! ;)
(I do like the awe you capture with your words.)

Beautifully written, Trent. Your image reminds me of a couple of nights ago when very early in the morning, I looked out and the sky was dark so I was able to see the stars. It was such a blessing :)

Thanks! I love to watch the stars, though I don’t see the Milky Way very often, which can be seen in this photo.

You’re welcome. I would love to see the Milky Way at least once.

Spend some time in the mountains – almost always crystal clear skies. Ironically, this photo was taken in the middle of a town near the ocean. I think since there were no lights on the ocean I was able to get a clear view with little light pollution.

Sounds ideal. Spending time in the mountains, seeing the crystal clear skies and the Milky Way. This is going on my bucket list.
