On the Set

“We’re going to need a pinker boat.”

“Cut! ‘Bigger’, ‘a bigger boat’; ‘bigger’! OK, back to your places. Let’s try this again.”

Jennifer didn’t move. “What’s up with the pink boat anyway?  The Orca looks more like the Dorka.”

“It fits the rewrite.”

“And the new ending?  I mean, come on, ‘Bruce’ is the monster.”

“The original was idiotic. Who would ever believe it?  I didn’t.”

“As long as we are talking rewrites,” Kim said, “I want more swearing, damn it.  Quint is a nasty woman…”

Cheryl shook her head. “Why did I ever take on this all-female version of Jaws?”

***

I did not watch the all female version of Ghost Busters…. As a FYI – ‘Bruce’ was the name they gave to the mechanical shark while filming Jaws.

Having never seen the “Jaws” movie, I’ve seem to have lost something in translation. Now, I’ll need to go find it to watch it. I’m still jittery from the Vincent Price research from last week’s Weekend Coffee share though… LOL! Scared myself spitless last night.

You should Google “We’re going to need a bigger boat”. It is the most famous line in the movie. The person who says it is afraid of water. The guy he says it to, Quint, is a salty shark hunter. He swears and if a “respectable lady” gets too close to his boat, the Orca, he sings dirty little ditties. I love Vincent, but some of the clips of those movies were pretty gory!

It’s not even the obvious pandering of all-female remakes isn’t even the worst part. It’s the constant need for remakes, re-imaginings, reboots… while original stories get rejected. Fun story though.

Sometimes remakes are ok (A Star is Born was made four times, and each time had pluses), but I tend to agree. if the movie was good, why ruin it by redoing it? And, yes, we all of the stupid remakes, reboots and awful sequels when there is new material to be had?

Ha ha! Fun one. No…I didn’t see the female Ghostbusters, either. I did see Ocean’s Eight but didja see the cast? How to resist?
    I don’t think I’d see an all-female Jaws either…

Thanks! I did not see Ocean’s Eight, but I just looked it up – you are right, a great cast. A female cats Jaws could be good if done right, but I know for sure they would do an awful, cliche job with it…

        It was a fun romp!
        And no… I just can’t with the all-female, all-black remakes of any sort…
At least Ocean’s Eight was like a next part, with Danny Ocean’s sister…

You don’t want a pink working vessel? lol, yeah, I think it is a bit much even for people who like pink. I’m not sure about Finding Nemo, but that would be my guess. One funny thing is that back in the 1970s, “Bruce” was a slang term people sometimes used for gay men, so were they calling the shark a gay man? (The term came from the older Batman comics were Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson slept in the same bed…)

lol, yep. It is funny how the names and terms bounce around until all original reference is gone (doing my “research” (1 quick Google search), I saw that there is a gay character on Family Guy named “Bruce” because of that old 70s term)
