If We Were Having Coffee on the 17th of October, 2020

Hello and Welcome! Come on over and I’ll get you a nice large mug of super strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage. I think the rain has finally stopped, but it is still wet out. It is also cool, but seasonably cool, not frigid. I’m hoping it will be a nice, if somewhat cool, day after the rain clouds blow over. Where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as being from New Hampshire.

Thinking rain, we have had a drought this year. I think they considered it a severe drought at that. This week we had a lot of rain, which is great for nature, but awful for dog owners ;)

We did have a few beautiful days between the bouts of rain. It was actually a warmer than usual week. That being said, I turned on my heat for the first time on Tuesday, the massively rainy day. It was just too chilly… But the leaves look great!

Fall Colors

That photo was from out of my kitchen window. On Friday morning, between storms, I took a couple of other photos. i thought it was very atmospheric. First, same direction as the other, but wide angle (the one story building in both shots is the police station):

And then a slight angle down the street to the library (yes, I am across from the library) There is the same big tree in both photos.

OK, besides photography out of my kitchen window, I did the usual. I walked the dogs, played with them, ran, exercised, played music, blogged, etc. Big accomplishment this week was replacing the garbage disposer in my kitchen. I watched a video. OK, pretty easy. I finished, but where was the power plug? So I read the instructions and discovered that I had to do the power myself. Easy enough reusing parts from the old one, but if I didn’t have the old one…

We had a virtual Lions Club meeting on Tuesday and finalized plans for a virtual “Candidates Night” for the local people running for state offices.

There was, of course, work. It was a very busy week! I got a lot done, but there is still a lot I need to do! Oh well, I guess it is job security…

That is about it. As the weather clears off I will need to take the dogs out – they were stuffed inside most of the day yesterday and are chomping at the bit.

Thanks for stopping by! f you have a coffee share, I will try to stop in and say hi.

Have a great weekend.

The coffee share is hosted over on Eclectic Alli.  The link to join is here.

I miss the fall color. Your photographs are perfect for me to remember what they looked like.
My daughters have sent me photos. I’ll have to save them from my phone. Mother Nature is a wonderful artist. Hope you have a stressless week, Trent. Be Safe … Be Healthy

Hey Trent. Your weekend essays often remind me of the all-too-short of time I’ve spent in New Hampshire. I was not there for the brutal weather, but really enjoyed the natural beauty of the place. My host family took us all up to a maple syrup farm to see how it is done. I recall thinking, I could do this for a living and love me days in the forests tending the trees and cooking down the syrup. My wife would say that I’d get bored after one year, but that may have been just the me of 30 years ago. Now, the peace and beauty of NH is very attractive.

NH is a very beautiful state and autumn is my favorite time of year, so… Maple season is actually at the harshest time of year – the sap begins to flow in late January or early February. It is the first sap of winter that is harvested. My in-laws do maple syrup, up in Maine, but not anything I’d care for. Being out in the woods all day, maybe ;)
Hope you had a great weekend!

Wow the colours are just magnificent, what a beautiful out look. That the prettiest Library I’ve ever seen how great across the road, I love the smell of libraries. Hope the dogs are happy now, we are hoping to get stuck inside with Spring rains soon, the cracks in the ground are too many. Have a wonderfully colourful week.

This is a very pretty area, but it is gorgeous in the autumn, my favorite season. Our little town is rightfully proud of the library. It is a very nice building, with some great detail inside, i.e., marble, a mosaic in the rotunda, and a lot of dark wood. Very classic. Rain is never fun, but it sounds like you need your even more than we needed it – I hope you get plenty soon. Have a good week :)

Beautiful pictures Trent love all the fall colors. I wish our area had the pretty fall colors but we get great weather 95% of the time so I guess its a switch off. I would still love to see it maybe we can take a drive this week and we can find some.

Thanks, Sonya. I did go through one Texas autumn, and that is one reason I prefer the north (I also can’t function in the heat, but that’s another story).Yes, everything is a switch off – when we have a couple of weeks where it doesn’t get much above 0 F and have a few feet of snow on the ground, you may be having the last laugh ;) I hope you are having a great weekend.

Ooh those colors are BEAUTIFUL!! Your village is gorgeous and I can see why they would take bus tours to view. (I didn’t know they do bus tours, pre Covid, so cool!) And to live near the library, my daughter and I would be in heaven. Thanks for sharing the photos and so happy you all have gotten much needed rain! Totally understand rain and furry friends, not as joyful. 😉 Enjoy you weekend! 😍

It is a very pretty village, and autumn is a benefit of living in New England! It is funny how many “leaf-peeper” tours there are in normal years, but then, I can understand wanting to see all of the beauty! I hope your weekend is going well and that you have a wonderful birthday week ahead!

Thanks, this is a pretty area in autumn. I would have thought that with how far north you are that the colors would already be there. Hope they are spectacular when the leaves do change.

Great pictures. The fall colours are wonderful. We had snow yesterday but it melted by the afternoon so our fall colours are coated in snow or frost lately. Anyway, great coffee post thanks for sharing. I hope you have a nice weekend.

Snow! It seems too early! (I have seen snow in October, and we once had 3 feet of wet, heavy snow on Halloween – it took down more trees than any storm I have ever seen). Fall colors with a tinge of frost is always pretty, but only if it warms up enough to enjoy ;) Thanks for stopping by.

I like your service set and the photos are nice. I’m glad I wore my fleece pullover, it’s been a bit chilly but it’s supposed to warm up and get sunny today in NH. Thanks for hosting this community coffee/tea time to get my morning started.

Ah, another person from NH. I guess I didn’t have to explain the Union Leader to you ;) I just got in from a walk, and, still damp and cool, but sunny and nice. It is turning into a beautiful fall day. Thanks for stopping by and for the comments on the photos.

I hate when WordPress drops people! And I’ll have to check about you – I think you might have dropped off of my feed as well. I haven’t seen any of your posts in about a week. Thanks for dropping in for coffee!

The colors are great here – we get a lot of tourists (in a normal year)! My brother used to live in the hillier areas of NJ, so I know it can very pretty down there as well. Being so close to the library is great :) Thanks for stopping by.

Great to see you back, Frank! Thanks for stopping in. We did have a hard freeze, in the mid-20s, a few weeks back, but it was in the mid-70s on Thursday! No hard freezes in the forecast.

Thanks! New Hampshire in general is gorgeous in the autumn, and our small town is very nice. I am up against a hill, so my back yard is all woods, and is very pretty, and yellow right now. Thanks for stopping by :)
