The Weekly Smile for the 19th of October, 2020

I’m sure a lot of you who read my smile posts and coffee share posts are aware, I spend a lot of time on Cape Cod and often have smiles about being there. Well, I also smile a lot about begin in New Hampshire!

Autumn is my favorite season. I love the cooler temperatures – the frosty nights but delightfully warm days. I like the smell of the air. I love that October blue sky that you never see any other time of the year. And, of course, I love fall foliage!

My House

New Hampshire is a place that in normal (non-Covid) years we see tour buses going down the back roads to see the foliage. People travel from all over the world. It is one of our busiest seasons.

This year has been gorgeous. I shared some photos that I took out of my kitchen window earlier (see photo above). I walked around yesterday takign photos. Funny, though, of the 102 (!) I took, 90 were in my back yard!

And 4 more of my house.

I did get a few others, but not many.

So that was my smile, just being in New Hampshire during the most gorgeous season of the year!

What made you smile?

****

Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week.  Why don’t you share it?  I hope you can join in!

Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas.  If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity.  Don’t smile about the misfortune of others.  Don’t smile in a way to excludes others.  Make sure a 12 year old can read it.

To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile.  Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ).   You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me).   Next week I will compile all of the Smiles and do a separate post of them on Monday morning just before the smile.  (I will shoot for around 7 AM EST).

Such stunning fall colours. Your home is beautiful too. You must feel truly blessed to be living here.

I love Autumn and Spring too, so very much, but my allergies have started flaring drastically, and feeling under the weather does not make it too perfect. Yet, I am so grateful for all the natural beauty and smells around me.

    Joining you smiles with mine.

    See you at my alley:

It is a beautiful area and I do feel blessed to live here. Spring isn’t as nice here – it is wet and cold, though it is great when the flowers come out. I do have some allergic reactions to the dust and pollen and such, but not terrible, so I can enjoy the smells of each new season :) I’ll be by to visit your post in a few minutes.

Thanks! I often write that I spent half the day playing in the back yard with the dogs – after seeing photos of my back yard, people may understand why I enjoy it so much ;) i do feel blessed to live in such lovely spot :)

Thanks! I am not a hot weather person, so perfect for me :) Actually, Cape Cod, for the most part, doesn’t get as cold as New Hampshire and the snow doesn’t as as long, but I’m sure it would still be too much on the cold side for you.

I’m sure there is major difference between weather in SA and Edinburgh! Also amount of day light – I spent a few days in late December/early January in the UK and the days are shorter there than even “up north” in New Hampshire here. But then, the long summer days may make up for it.

It is very beautiful around here this time of year, which is my favorite time of year anyway :) I am biased, but I think New England is the best place for fall foliage. OK, I know the mountains in Virginia can be gorgeous, and I’m sure the colors were great were you grew up (I’m from northern Ohio, and the colors are great there…), but there is just something about this area – yes, you do need to make a special trip to New England for fall foliage some year!

Thanks, it is very pretty here :) I have been seeing that heron every time I do that walk, even when that pond was little more than mud, this was just the first time I had a camera. And with the colors, I’m glad I did! I’ll stop by in a few to comment on your post :)

The heron had been there every time I do that walk for months, even two weeks ago, before our rain, when the pond was just muck. This is the first time I had a camera with me, but no telephoto lens. Oh well, I heavily cropped my wide angle shot of it :) Are you doing OK? I hope you get out before the rain.
