Grace glides through water
Fall’s fire flames in trees and pond
Autumn’s tone inspires
Death blooms beautiful in leaves
Colors create thrill in heart

This was written for Colleen’s weekly poetry challenge. It was a double challenge – first was a photo challenge using a photo which I took several years ago in Milford, MA. (Yes, Colleen used my photo this week :) ) The second was a synonyms only challenge using the words Move and Make. I combined both challenges and wrote a tanka today.
Photo below was from this Saturday and was taken in Wilton, NH.

Very nice :)

Beautiful images! And I love the swan on the mirror-finish-like water!

Thanks! When Colleen asked for a photo for her challenge, I thought the swan one was perfect.

Beautiful photos. I especially like the line “Death blooms beautiful in leaves”. (K)

Thanks! It is intriguing that a tree’s leaves are at their most beautiful as they die and fall off of the tree….

We’re in the high 90’s. It’s just too hot! 🥵🌵

I hope you get some relief soon! Autumn needs to feel like autumn, not high summer… (We have been in the 70s – strange for late October where the high should be about 60)

I get that. We’re seriously thinking of moving back to Montana. The heat here is almost unbearable. 🥵🤦🏼♀️

I think I would like Montana better as well, but would maybe chose a place in the middle, like CO, instead if I could… I like winter, but Montana? ;)

Maybe Michigan? We know we have to get better situated. We lived in Montana for 17 years. Loved it. Probably shouldn’t have left. 😂

Michigan is pretty nice. I grew up in northern Ohio, on Lake Erie, but vacationed a lot in MI as a kid. The problem with both of those states is how flat they are compared to places like Montana!

Great Falls, Montana is pretty flat! LOL! That’s where we would go. <3

Yeah, I tend to generalize about those huge western states ;)

Can’t afford Colorado. We loved there for four years before moving here.

I have a friend in CO, and yeah, a bit pricey.

Thanks! When they say “smooth as a mill pond”, this is what they are talking about! The reflections were great.

Perfect poetry, just awesome. Death blooms beautiful in leaves, my new favourite deep thought for when Autumn arrives.

Thanks! For that line I had to think a little bit about how I could get the idea of dying leaves that seem to bloom color into 7 syllables ;) I am glad you liked the poem :)
