The Weekly Smile for the 26th of October, 2020 #weeklysmile

Last week was a pretty good week with a lot of little smiles, but I am going to a weird one instead of the typical “all of the small things” post.

First, a bit of background.

I typically do two quick change of seasons in the spring and two more in the autumn. I divide it since we will have mixed weather during the transition. This year it stayed warm up until, well, up until now. A second part of this is that I have a big house with a lot of teeny-tiny rooms. One is useless for about anything, so I made it into a kind of walk in closet. Actually, walk through, since the main path of the house goes through the room! If you use the second floor at all, you have to walk through the phone booth sized room.

Set up done, now to the smile.

I did my transition from summer clothes to winter clothes yesterday. But part of it was clearing my room. You see, the tiny room has become a true closet of sorts and was filling with junk. Stuff was unorganized. I spent most of the day cleaning, moving, throwing away and reorganizing. And that is before I took the sweaters, turtlenecks and such out of the cedar chest and put the shorts and short sleeve shirts in! I reorganized a lot of the space and made it more efficient. It is also a little nicer looking, which is for the best since, as I said, it is at the top of the stairs and you have to walk through it to get to any of the other rooms on the second floor – it sees a lot of traffic, and everyone sees it…

I know, that is a weird thing to smile about, but it isn’t the cleaning, organizing and changing the seasons that made me smile as much as it was the satisfaction and sense of accomplishment when it was done.

So that was my smile for the week, transitioning from summer to spring in a bigger way than usual.

What made you smile?

****

Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week.  Why don’t you share it?  I hope you can join in!

Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas.  If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity.  Don’t smile about the misfortune of others.  Don’t smile in a way to excludes others.  Make sure a 12 year old can read it.

To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile.  Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ).   You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me).   Next week I will compile all of the Smiles and do a separate post of them on Monday morning just before the smile.  (I will shoot for around 7 AM EST).

This made me smile, Trent. I find great pleasure in organizing and cleaning just about anything. I’ve, often, been the humor for my daughters as they say I have a bit of a germ phobia. NOPE … I just like things neat and tidy. Recently, I organized my bathroom cabinets. Since I don’t have drawers, hubby added slide outs in metal. They’re great. AND … I discarded or donated quite a bit of toiletries. Who needs 12 bottles of shampoo? LOL
    Be safe … Isadora 😎
ps – I’ve added the URL here since I can’t figure out how to do it on the new WP – any hints?

I am usually the opposite of being organized and tidy, which is one reason this was a big smile for me! Your link did come through, however, both this comment and the link are on last week’s smile. I will put a link in the comments of this week’s smile so I don’t miss it during the roundup :)

I am a terrible procrastinator and have an awful time organizing my house, so this was pretty big ;) I do have a stack of clothes to donate, so not all of the clutter is gone. I may toss it – I have read that donating clothes isn’t the great thing we always though it was. I’ll be by in a few minutes!

lol,OCD, bring it on, I love a good clean up like that the saying goes, a change is as good as a holiday. Do your clothes that you have stored smell like the timber their stored in, we use camphor laurels trees for that sort of storage. Amazing smells.

lol, I’m actually not very OCD, which is the problem – it was pretty bad before I started ;) But the change is very good. The clothes do have a slight cedar odor at first. Not strong, but noticeable. The wool sweaters keep it the longest, which is fine.

I smiled as I pictured you clearing out! I chatted to my daughter on Sunday as the more space I have the more stuff I find ot fill it! I’m clearing out bit by bit and take a box at a time for now! I have to smile because often there is more that I keep than get rid of, and then spend time reading stuff and looking at photos. I think I need a professional declutterer …! Enjoy your Spring as we go into Autumn …. Thanks for the SMILES!

Cleaning does not bring a smile to my face, and am so happy, I have a walk-in closet, so I have lots of storage space! Also the weather is between 89ties and 70ties, so sill have summer clothes on. But what does give me a smile is when I have done the dishes:) Happy and satisfied!

I think I may organise HIM and then perhaps he’ll organise ME and and that way it will be more interesting to see which winter clothes we end up with. We won’t be going out much anyway…this lockdown makes me come up with some crazy ideas (smile).

lol, yes, some crazy ideas and unique ways of looking at things. And if you aren’t going out very much, just the two of you of you thinking about the winter wardrobe, I’m sure sure there could be some interesting reorganization to keep you from getting too bored…

Ooo, chilly for October. We will most likely get snow on Friday, but it should melt pretty quick. Glad the smoke is gone – hopefully the colder weather will help in the effort of putting out the fires.

Sometimes meeting even the least of my obligations as an adult are satisfying ;) Seriously, I am a very disorganized person, so this was satisfying :) You too, have a great week!

I’m sure the change of seasons can be a nightmare – you most likely need more than just one day to do it ;) lol, at times I’m like a big kid, so I guess part of the smile is having my “inner-adult” take over for a day…
