November #haiku

Last leaf hangs
World in brown and tan
Calm descends

**

Fading light
Frost nips bright colors
November

The above haikus were written for Colleen’s weekly poetry challenge. This week was poet’s choice. I chose to do two haiku in a 3-5-3 pattern.

Every year I have written a poem about voting on election day. This year? Well…

Ballot box
Waits with open mouth
Please feed it!

Better? ;)

Thanks, Colleen! Yes, I am waiting (haven’t checked the news in an hour…) and hoping for the best. I’m sure it won’t be all of the way over today, but hopefully some small resolution. And, yeah, a long road ahead any way it goes…

I agree, we need to somehow come together. Right now there are a few sources of information (or misinformation) that are purposefully trying to pull us apart – I have no idea how to deal with that, but hopefully someone smarter than me can figure it out!

One year I went to work (at a golf course with a conference center) … the conference side is a polling location. As I was walking toward the building, the volunteer said something to me and I couldn’t resist saying something like —- I already voted, can I vote here too?

Thank you for this beautiful photo plus wise words. I particularly like your first one because of how it ends: “Last leaf hangs/World in brown and tan/Calm descends.” I need to summon/evoke as much calm as I possibly can today…
