Hi all! Happy New Year! I know, 2020 was not a very good year. In fact, it was awful. But we did see a lot of good smiles, despite it all :) Well, with 2021 just starting, I expect to see even more smiles.
If you have been reading my blog for a while, you might know that I spend a lot of time on Cape Cod. In fact, I have a house down there. Well, I haven’t been since mid-November. That is, until now. I drove down last Monday and spent New Year down there. I returned to New Hampshire Saturday evening.
It was a good visit. It was great to get away, even if it was “going home”. I really didn’t do a lot. I walked in the woods, walked on two beaches, walked the dogs down to the two landings, ran (which goes by one of the beaches), and just did more normal things. That being said, it was very relaxing. I love being by the water. It was a good way to see in the new year, particularly this year.
That was my smile for the week, and the first smile for the year, several days down on Cape Cod just relaxing and living.
What made you smile?
****
Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week. Why don’t you share it? I hope you can join in!
Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas. If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity. Don’t smile about the misfortune of others. Don’t smile in a way to excludes others. Make sure a 12 year old can read it.
To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile. Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ). You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me). Next week I will compile all of the Smiles and do a separate post of them on Monday morning just before the smile. (I will shoot for around 7 AM EST).

Trent – great way to start the new year – back at cape cod – and cheers to many things good in 2021

I had many smiles this week – and one of them was having fun blogging – just thought I would share my weekly smile here – I will do a smile post later this month with the virtual tea party – hope you don’t mind me combining with that – ;)

Thanks, it was a great start to the year. I know there might be some dark days ahead, but I feel confident in the year over all (it is darkest before the dawn).
I’m glad you had a lot of smiles. I did see that you are posting more than you have in recent months. No problems if you combine posts with other “challenges”.

Yes – I am doing the daily post this month – letting it flow – and actually I need to try and work in the weekly smile on a regular basis but sometimes just have to follow the muse with the time allotted – if that makes sense – and thanks for the nice reply

It does make perfect sense to just follow the muse. My blog reading has been a little off for a few weeks but I’ll try to make it by to see your daily posts :) I also enjoy seeing a new smile post, but hope nobody worries about having one up every week.

Well please don’t try to make the daily ones – and I am not sure if you feel this way – but I like it when people come and go – but I also like it when folks just follow what mood they are in and what they want that week – ya know?
So no worries
And side note – I am trying to come up with a system for visiting some of my favorite blogs
I need a way to remember to visit the ones I like that don’t leave comments or likes – and I dusky visit froze the reader or from my comment section – do that is what I am working on

For the most part, I skim my Reader and if I see one I want to visit, I’ll go in. I shut off email notifications for all of the blogs I follow – much easier just to use the Reader! But so many people post at such odd hours that I sometimes rely on comments and such. And then, if I am away for a few days… Yep, I get coming and going, though I do like seeing the regulars, at least on occasion :)

Thanks for sharing how you do it – and if I got an email notification for all the blogs it would wear me out – I stopped that years ago and believe it is what kept me still around the blog world – lol

I had just transitioned to a new email account when I started blogging. After about three months, I set up another account as my personal account (the trentsworld one that you’ve used) and have not even looked at my “social media” account in ages. Even though I turned off notifications, I guess there are 500,000 unread messages ;)

Yikes – that is a lot of notifications and it makes sense if you get a notification or email for daily posts
—
And I noticed that gmail had started deleting trash folders – oops – found out unexpectedly last year when I needed an old email! But good for them because all those deleted emails must use space and maybe even the almighty “G” has to watch their space – hahaha
But now I know to use a folder for the ones I might need to reference
–
And if it did not make my head soon – I would have an email for all of the posts to come to my inbox and then skim once or twice a week – but it fatigued me.
Too much skimming and blah
So the reader works great
Or going to the person’s blog and seeing theor too five recent posts is my strategy right now
Hope your Sunday is going well

(500,00 was an exaggeration – but I’m sure the number is huge!)

It was very interesting. I read about 3/4 of it and got called away, so I will have to go back finish it.

So glad it was relaxing for you, there is something very calming about being near, in or on the water. Have a fantastic rest of the week.
