If We Were Having Coffee on the 30th of January, 2021

Hello and Welcome! I would have you take a seat here at the picnic table, only you might freeze to death before I can get you your beverage, so come on in and we’ll stay socially distanced. It is sunny, and no longer windy (yesterday was awful!!!) and is a balmy 5 F/-15 C out there. Almost beach weather! I can get you a large mug of super strong dark roast, a piping cuppa tea or some hot cocoa. Oh, were are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as begin from New Hampshire.

OK, I mentioned weather. If you remember, last weekend I said it was the coldest weather so far this winter. Well, that changed. This weekend is colder! yesterday was frigid and super windy. Today is just as cold, but thankfully a bit calmer. It will warm up a little this week. We had some snow last Tuesday night, so the ground is covered. We are supposed to get more this week, maybe up to a foot (30 cm). Not a lot (for NH!) but enough.

This has been an odd week. there was work of course. I had a doctor’s appointment on Monday and massage on Wednesday. I didn’t run (and I feel it) but tried to make up for it by using a row machine I picked up late last year (Christmas present to myself). No matter how hard I push, it does not have the same cardio as running. I did some weight exercise. I played with and walked dogs. I continued learning math (actually review). All of the usual stuff.

Oh, quick comment – last week I saw a fox up close and personal while walking the dogs (see my Weekly Smile). Is aw it again on Wednesday, after the snow. It’s bright red really stood out against the snow!

Thinking of red, back on New Year’s Eve, I took a photo of Mars and just now looked at it. (I took dozens, but like this best). So, over the last few months I got photos of Jupiter and the moons and Jupiter with Saturn. To this collection, I am now adding Mars.

I think last week I mentioned that I am completely finish with my book, The Old Mill, and I shared the cover photo. This week I announced that it will be released on February 9. More news on it coming!

In preparation for the release, I started to play with my web presence. The first thing I did was move to a paid blog instead of the free one. The main reason was to get rid of the ads! Since then I have been shining up some old web sites I have had rusting in the background. I will post about those sometime this week.

For the most part that is it. I need to do stuff – even though it is cold, I always have to stay active!

Thanks for stopping by. If you have a coffee share I’ll try to stop in and say “Hi!”

Natalie the Explorer is now the host of the weekend coffee share and she is doing a wonderful job. Stop in at this week’s main share page or go to the InLinkz linkup to see all of the other shares!

    Hello!
Thanks for the coffee! Here in Wisconsin we’re expecting frigid temps for a week starting Friday. I’m not a fan. But at least Spring is on the horizon!
Congratulations on your book. Are you self publishing?
    Have a great week 😊

Our cold snap is over, but we will still stay on the cool side of normal for at least a week – I hope spring is on it’s way!
      Thanks. It is being self-published.
Hope you are having a great week!

Thank you for the coffee! I thought I responded but checked and I don’t think I did. (Forgive me if I did and this is a repeat) I’m praying for a little warmth for you there. It’s so wonderful you saw the fox again and I bet it stands out in the white snow. I’ve been a little out of sorts this weekend. I hope you have a good week ahead! 🙂

I’ll be sharing this week. It’s been an awful, rough, sad weekend. It’s cathartic to share so eventually I’ll put together a post. I’m thankful for this outlet and all the supportive, wonderful people here in our blogging world. ❤️

We’ve hit some bitter cold here, too. Didn’t stop me from going out yesterday and won’t stop me today. Plus the sun is shining so the -18 feels like -25C (0, feels like -13F) won’t seem too bad ;-)
    Thanks for the share!

I’m sure it was cold there! I did get out a few times with the dogs yesterday, and today it was slightly warmer (still far below freezing) and there wasn’t as much wind, so I took a long walk in the woods without the dogs – very nice. Hope your weekend went well and that you have a wonderful week!

Wet! Wet! Wet! Seems to be theme this Summer, as Denyse mentioned. She actually lives about an hour up the road from me, which is nice. I rarely touch base even with other Australians through the blog, let alone someone nearby. However, despite the rain, there were a few really hot days during the week, which set off my breathing, but yesterday was good and I went for a swim at the beach. Mostly loved it.
    Your fox sounds interesting.
    Best wishes,

Hot and wet doesn’t sound fun, but then, frigid and dry isn’t either ) It will warm up a bit, but then we are going to get some snow, so… Glad you got a swim in. I know you recently posted about a swim – was it just that time or were you able to get out between the rain for another one? Seeing the fox after my latest walk a total of three times is very cool. Have a wonderful week!

        Hi Trent,
I’ve only managed the one swim so far, but I’m feeling encouraged to get out there and go for more. However, the rain is back again and my to do list is seemingly never-ending. However, I managed to knock a few things off it today. Things will settle down in a week or so once school settles in.
That’s great you’ve seen the fox again. It sounds quite exciting and I have dim memories of a story about a fox from my childhood.
I hope you have a great week too.
        Best wishes,
        Ro

I’m in rural Alabama with spotty internet. If this is a repeat comment (I tried just a moment ago but it failed. Maybe. Or it might have gone through. Hard to say). Anyway, congratulations on the book release!

Thanks, Dawn! Getting away from the MI cold and snow? Anyway, the other comment did not make it unless it is in spam (I’ll check). I hope you have a great week.

The weather seems to be a theme in the coffee shares this week. I read that there is a storm approaching the US east coast, and here in the southern hemisphere we had cyclone Eloise last week and apparently there is a new one forming over the Mozambique channel at the moment. It’s rainy and windy here, but it is also warm and humid.

The end of January and beginning of February is usually the most brutal part of winter here, and with a mild winter last year, and the first half of January unusually mild, this is big news to us ;) A few other southern hemisphere bloggers have talked about the heat – it sounds like a hot summer in many places. Oh well, the weather has been one of the biggest topics of discussion since the beginning of humanity. I hope you stay cool and that the cyclone doesn’t affect you.

In my area of Australia, the east coast, it’s been rainy, humid and hot. There you go, I shall send some across. As we head into February (and school is back) it’s usually the most uncomfortable month of all. I use wordpress as a system but have my own domain and blog from that. I cannot bear ads and feel my readers should not have to view them either. This is my 11th year of having my blog which is pretty good and I like to share my stories and this weekend link up is one such way.

We could use a little of that heat!
I had only looked at my blog from other WordPress blogs, so I didn’t realize how intrusive the ads were. You are right, we should not force our readers to endure all of them! I have had the domain trentsworld.com since the 90s and have been trying to figure out how to move the site over without losing, but I think using the paid version of WP for the blog and making the “.com” a static page works best for me.
I hope you are have a wonderful week!

I do not know why I waited so long to get rid of the ads. Well, part of it is that I wanted to use my old name without giving up my present site. Anyway, glad I finally took the plunge! Thanks.
Hope you are having a good weekend.

They are relatively common on the east coast, but do a very good job of staying out of sight. I see one every couple of years or so, but it was very cool to see two within a week, and the one up close.

Brrr… I have to say it because that’s just so darn cold!! And I know how much you need to run, so praying for some warming up soon in your neck of the woods! The rowing machine I’ve seen and sounds like a good workout but I can see not as good as running for cardio. Love the Mars photo! ❤️ And thanks for the yummy coffee!! Exciting, book debut soon! 🤠 You are inspiring!! 😀👍

Busy busy, i wonder if the fox has a den nearby, would have been so pretty like you say the contrast of colours. The Mars photo is so cool. I hope the Dr gave you a, you are well & healthy report. As for the cold well that’s definitely beyond cold. Stay well stay warm & have a wonderful week ahead.

It was pretty busy, but no more than usual, just different. I am sure the fox lives pretty close by, but when I saw him (or a different one) on Wednesday, it ran the opposite direction than where I guess the den is located. And I watched it for a while – I could see it for over a quarter of mile (about half a km), so unless he has a very large territory, it might have been a different one.
I hope you are haven a great weekend and have a wonderful week ahead :)

What an exciting week you had with your upcoming book launch and your web presence. I like your photo collection of the moons, Jupiter, Mars and Saturn. We had the full (Wolf) moon this past week. Sounds like you’re getting a lot of snow. We had a snow storm this past Tuesday, downtown got about 2 inches of snow so that wasn’t much, and no significant snow in the forecast. Enjoy your weekend. Thank you for linking up #weekendcoffeeshare.

Thanks! It was a pretty good week. I’m sure the storm that gave you 2 inches is the same that dumped four or five on us later in the day. This upcoming storm is a coastal storm, so coming from the south instead of the west.
Hope your weekend is going well! have a great week!

What an exciting week, creating web presence for your book. How awesome! It sounds like we have about the same weather. The cold week we had last week have turned colder here as well. That’s fine by me, I enjoy it. Have a fabulous rest of your weekend, I’m grabbing another cup of coffee as I leave :)

It was a pretty good week. I’ve been through the book release many times before, so I’m not sure why I didn’t take more time making sure everything looked good beforehand!
I do enjoy winter, but the last few days have been a bit cold for me! Well, it is mostly the wind. when it is 8 F and there is a 25 mph wind, it feels cold!
Hope your weekend is going well :) I’ll try to stop by soon.

It has been a weird winter. We had a very cold late fall, and then a warm first three quarters of January, now frigid. Oh well, just have to be prepared for anything!

Yes, February 9th is about a week and a half away!

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend!

+2 – a heat wave 😂 Our deep cold will be over tomorrow. We’ll hover just around freezing for a few days as the snow comes through and then get a little warmer at the end of the week.

I’ll be by in just a few minutes.
