Hello and Welcome! Come on over and I’ll get you a large, steaming mug of super-strong dark roast, a piping cuppa tea or some hot hot cocoa. As you may be able to tell from my description of the beverages available, it is cold! But it is sunny, and sitting behind the house we are blocked from the worst of the wind, so it shouldn’t be too bad. Where are we? Some may recognize that photo as being from New Hampshire. And, yes, there is still snow where it was taken, though a lot of the snow is gone.
First up is weather. The beginning of the week actually was pretty warm, and then came Tuesday. It got down to about 5F/-15C and the high was about 15F/-9C. Cold, but the worst was the 30 mph/48 kph sustained winds. I have been out when it is far below zero F and felt great, but when it is windy like this? Unless you are dressed for Mt. Everest, you will be cold. Wednesday was actually pretty nice. But then the north wind continued to blow, and it hasn’t been above freezing since Wednesday afternoon, plus the wind has been strong, up in the 20s mph. Sunny, but brrrr… Of course, tomorrow will be the last day of cold, then it will be in the 60s F (over 15 C) by Wednesday. Yeah, crazy. Remember, in New Hampshire winter is never over until April. We get a major snow storm almost every March, and there have been years with more snow in March and April than the rest of the winter combined! So even though we may see mild weather this week, it is not over!
Let’s see, I did keep my running routine good up until Wednesday, and I hope to get out today. I have been doing a lot of dog play, but not as many walks – Idina for some reason has not wanted to walk. I did take Fiyero for a personalized little jog (he trots when walking alone, so I jog to keep up) on Thursday and Friday. We went places that Idina he always wants to visit but Idina always bulks at going. Yeah, Idina is the rescue and has some idiosyncrasies – she even nipped at my massage therapist this week when we met her while walking! Naughty. I also exercised, read wrote, played musical instruments, etc.
Work was busy and will continue to be busy for a while.
And that is mostly it. Just surviving the end of winter.
Despite the fact that it is still pretty chilly and there is still a little wind (15 mph), I do plan on spending as much time outside as possible – it’s sunny!
Thanks for stopping by! If you have a coffee share, I will try to make a visit.
Natalie the Explorer is now the host of the weekend coffee share and she is doing a wonderful job. Stop in at this week’s main share page or go to the InLinkzlinkup to see all of the other shares!
Oh, that is cold. I’ve never been to New Hampshire. I’m not sure the last time I saw single digits where I live (Washington State).

It seems a little funny since you are farther north than us. We do have a wide range in NH, from very frigid winters to hot and humid summers, but in both cases, the extremes are short lived and for the most part comfortable. I split my time with Cape Cod, and the temps there are even more mild – not as cold in the winter nor as hot in the summer. Have a great weekend!

Wow, quite a difference to go from -15 to 15 degrees! Cold weather is bad enough but if it’s also windy.. that’s awful. Sounds like you’ve had some good things done indoors though! I can’t remember now what musical instrument(s) you play, you’ve probably told me.

The temperature swings were wild, and the wind just made it awful! But I did get a lot done, and actually spent a lot of time outside, cold or not – one benefit of have active dogs ;)
I play electronic keyboards and like the “old school” analog synthesizers. If you go back one post from this one, there is a video that has a photos of my studio and some of my instruments. A bit different from folk/bluegrass/old time music, but fun :)

Have a cozy week.

It has been far too cold, but luckily it is warming up this week. Thanks, have a great week.

Hang in there, Spring is just around the corner. Our temperatures are all over the place too – 50’s to high 80’s, and the wind has been incredible. Lots to be happy about this week, so no complaints here. Have a great week.

I think the temperatures have been a roller-coaster everywhere. Strange as it may seem, even in the frigid weather, it has felt like spring is coming, I just wish it would hurry ;) Have a wonderful week.

With that wind you’ve had really cold weather!. We had a little colder than last week (around 2C/35F most days,) but sunny, and only a little windy in the mornings. Today when I woke up there was a light dusting of snow, and my weather channel says it is going to snow a little this coming week. It feels like spring with all the snow, and at my balcony it’s t-shirt weather. Speaking of my balcony, I’m having new outdoor furniture delivered in a little bit, I better make sure everything is ready for that. Have a great rest iof your weekend, and thank you for your coffee.

It is odd that even with the bitter cold this week, it somehow felt like spring, which is, in ways, similar to you saying that it feels springlike there, even with snow. Hope you had a great weekend and have a wonderful week ahead!

Thank you! You as well :)

Sunny and 45F today in Madison! Have any snow left? We still have a foot in the shade.

There is still some snow, particularly in shady areas, but most of it is very icy. Hope your weekend is going well.

I can’t believe how much sun we’ve had this week! Not common for Michigan.. We’ll in the 60s next week.. That will be nice, but we’ll be back in the 40s after that.. Have a great week!

After this cold, windy week, having 60s will feel great! I think we return to the 40s as well, but better than a high in the 20s, like it has been most of this week.
Hope your weekend is going well. Have a great week

I remember a trip I took to upstate New York in April. I was 22 yrs old and didn’t know what wind-chill factor meant. (Yes, I lived a fairly sheltered life in southern Cali!🤣) My Aunt and cousins who I was visiting took me to West Point Academy and it was a beautiful sunny day! Since it’s right off the Hudson river, the wind just went right through my clothes! Brr, it was freezing, very cold to me and so deceiving from inside the car. It looked like a hot sunny day until I got out of the car to take some photos. Back then we didn’t have weather apps, I didn’t bother to ask what the temp was that day! This was back in 1982, but that trip always comes to mind when I think about cold winds. I was so unprepared, had a thick jacket but needles to say we didn’t spend much time outside the car! Lol 😆 I hope the winds go away!! 😀

The problem with the formal definition of “wind chill” is that it is talking about the feel on bare skin. The big thing for me is what you are talking about – the wind just rips through clothing, and so wind chill of 30 can feel much, much colder than no wind at 10! Yep, I’m sure you learned that ;) Yesterday was less windy, so nice, and today is even better. And then it will warm up over the week so… all is good. Hope your weekend is going well and that you have a wonderful week!

The weather has been strange here. Is it raining? Is it snowing? Its cold and icy toady and mild and slushy tomorrow. I think it is going to be an interesting spring.
I hope that you got to enjoy the sunny outside today. Have a great rest of your weekend.

It was an odd winter here, so I’m guessing an interesting spring as well!
Thanks, I did spend a lot of time outside yesterday and plan to today as well. I hope you are having a great weekend and have a wonderful week ahead.

Just hearing about it makes me shiver! Not sure how I ever survived it! Those winds even made their way down here to FL, it was 66 degrees and we were all wearing parkas! 😁

lol, I can picture the parkas. I’m sure there are times (perhaps many times!) that you think to yourself, “I’m glad I no longer live in NH!” and I’m sure reading my post was one of those times…

Strong winds take the fun out of outdoors walks, runs or cycling. We had a few sunny days this week and more sunny days in the forecast so I’ll be outside as much as possible, too.

It is tough to do things when it is so windy! Kayaking and cycling are the worst. Today was a lot calmer, so I did get a bit done outside and should tomorrow as well :) I hope you are having a good weekend and are getting out a lot and that you have a wonderful week ahead :)

Hey Trent. I like NH, but it must have been summer of fall when I was there because there wasn’t anything like 5 degrees outside. I like the cold but man, that is very cold and yes, with any wind, it could prove dangerous. Builds character i bet. Work has been busy this week for me too. Lots of project stuff to progress and some customer stuff lighting up to make sure I’m busy. But every now and then, there is some fun things that sneak in. So I’m thankful for that.
Thanks for the visit.

There are times when NH reminds you that it is the -north-east! This week was one of those times. It will be odd to be in the 60s, but we were in the 60s in January, so…
Glad you had some fun things creep into your busy week. I hope your weekend is going well! I’m going to see how the evening goes, but, unless it slows down, I will most likely stop by your place for coffee in the morning instead of tonight.

Brrr… that does sound cold. Here, the temps are hovering in the 30-40F range, breezy, but all in all not too bad. It took me all day Thursday and Friday, but I dug up a small patch in front of the townhome (where the landscapers just can’t seem to mow or weed-eat), and made a little sitting area. There’s a small patch where I plan to plant some flowers after the frost. Leah Mae is being a quintessential kitten…as in into everything, and on any surface her paws can carry her too. So, I’ve been busy establishing house rules. That said, we’ve had an evening walk about every day this past week, except for one rainy one. Hubby calls it “walking my girls”. I did too much shoveling with the flower bed and my leg joints are screaming at me. I am reminded with every movement that what I could do a few years ago is just plain hard, now.

Sorry about the stressed joints. From the way you said it, is Leah Mae joining you on the walks? I know people who walk their cats, just not something I see often. I’m sure she will find ways of breaking every house rule! I hope your weekend is going well and that have a great week next week :)

Oh my yes, Leah does join me. She walks a little, gets carried a lot. I feel safer somehow… Like I did when I had my assistant dog. With her, it would be hard for someone to sneak up behind me. Our neighbor walks her kitty, too. He’s huge compared to Leah. Somehow I even feel safer at home as she lets me know when someone’s outside the front door before they knock and scare me to death. Most of my experience with people knocking is to tell me someone died…

Cool that she’s such a great companion. I do remember you saying how bad of a year it has been with a lot of deaths.

Those winds were felt all over North America, I swear. Good gawd. Right through you, they went! Still cold all weekend for us, too and the “warmer” temps are coming next week… We shall see…

I hope we do see the warmer weather next week! You often get pretty close to what we get her in NH, but we are sometimes affected by the ocean, so that’s when it is different. With that strong north wind, yeah, you were sending it our way ;) Hope your weekend is going well.

Yes, I’ve noticed with your posts that our weather is rather similar. Of course, the ocean makes a big difference both with warmth and cold.
Thanks, the weekend is going rather well!
