Hey Dad, I took my driver’s license test today.
Oh no.
I told Mom that I needed to drive the BMW because of the shorter turning radius…
Oh no!
…and better control.
Oh no.
It has great breaking!
Oh no.
And let me tell you about acceleration…
Oh no!!!
Man, there is nothing with better acceleration than the Beemer!
What happened?
Let me tell you, 0 to 60 in, just wow!
WHAT HAPPENED?!?!
I missed the break and hit the gas…
Oh no…
I went through a brick wall…
Oh no……..
But at least I didn’t fall off the edge!

Poor Dad, he knew what was coming wasn’t going to be good, it was just a case of listening to the end to find out how bad. Nice little tale.

I don’t want to hear it/I have to listen to the bitter end… yep. Thanks.

Still laughing! So well told. The crescendo of ‘Oh no’s
Actually, when I went back to driving after a break of about 30 years, I remembered the pedals were ABC… But I couldn’t remember whether it went left to right or right to left! I tested them out very gently!
Great story.

Driving becomes almost a reflex, but until it does, having to remember everything isn’t easy, particularly in the heat of the moment… Thanks.

Perfect title for this entertaining story, Trent.

Hilarious not the BMW, My friends Dad took her out for a driving lesson hit the accelerator instead of the break just missing going through the front door of their house. Her Dad didn’t say anything got out the car slid over the bonnet to get into the house grabbed a couple of beers from the fridge & sat out in the backyard for a few hours.

lol, I’m sure he needed a few beers after that! And time to decompress.

A funny take. Actually, it sounds like something I would have… well, did… do back when I first started driving. Only I missed the plate glass window and took out the garbage can. Thank goodness. Mom was sitting at the table just on the other side of the glass when it happened. I was forbidden from parking in front of the restaurant ever again. LOL!

He didn’t pass. Make him retake that test and keep him away from BMWs.

I think he’ll need a lot more practice before taking the test again, but he’ll never touch the keys to the BMW again in his entire life ;)

Haha. While this conversation might have given the dad in question an almost heart attack, it made me laugh out! Great story. :D

I’m sure the Dad was on the verge of heart failure ;) Thanks.

Dear Trent,
I love the title. Great good news, bad news dialogue. I’d say this is a kid who’s going to be grounded for life…with a bicycle as his transportation. Good job!
Shalom,
Rochelle

Thanks, Rochelle. i agree, grounded for the foreseeable future and always having to chose between the bicycle and public transportation…

Oh man! This brings back memories! This actually happened when I was in college – I was riding shotgun and the inexperienced DriverFriend did this in the HEB carpark!

Yow, I’m sure that was scary!
You can join this week’s Friday Fictioneer, but with a true story that matches the photo…

Definitely an “oops” kind of moment. How did that car get through that wall with so little damage? Weak wall? Strong car?
LikeLiked by 1 person
I was wondering the same thing about the lack of damage on the car. I know BMWs are well made, but that is ridiculous…. I don’t think Liz wrote the real story about what happened, but I need to go back and see, just in case…

I like how Dad suspects the worst right from the start!

Dad does know his son or daughter very well! Of course, he may have driven with said son or daughter and knew exactly what to expect…

That’s a story you don’t want to tell dad in person. If he can see that you’re all right, he can skip concern and go right into pissed faster than a BMW can go 0-60.

No, I think telling Dad in an email sent from Paternal Grandmother’s computer would be the safest bet…

My son is old enough to get his learn’s license in a couple more years and the picture and your narrative are how I imagine it is going to go…I am not sure whether I should laugh or cry!
Great post, Trent. Thanks for sharing.

I bet after checking the driver was OK, Dad went from 0-60 swear words in 5 seconds flat.

Yes, they’ll have to take the test, but after a bit more practice. Uhm, OK, after A LOT more practice! Thanks.

Methinks his driver’s ed was not pariticularly successful, even if he did get his license…

He took the test, he did not get the license…. I think everyone knew he wasn’t ready, except maybe Mom.
