(Note – there will be no roundup next week, nor will there be a Weekly smile post at all)
I took a bit of a vacation last week. I had Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday off! That is almost a week. I didn’t go too far, as I spent the entire time at my house on Cape Cod, but it was still great to have the time off!
Sorry to those who read my last coffee post, since this is pretty much a repeat, but I am sure you will understand why I am smiling :)
Anyway, over that “almost-week” I took long walks on my favorite, wild beach; I went swimming on a closer, not so wild beach; I kayaked; I took long walks in the woods and by a saltwater marsh; I walked and played with the dogs; I played with the kitten; I went appliance shopping (I know…); I read; I wrote; I did yard work; I organized stuff; and I relaxed!
A good time was had by all ;)
That is my smile for this week, a bit of a vacation on Cape Cod.
What made you smile?
****
Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week. Why don’t you share it? I hope you can join in!
Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas. If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity. Don’t smile about the misfortune of others. Don’t smile in a way to excludes others. Make sure a 12 year old can read it.
To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile. Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ). You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me). Next week I will compile all of the Smiles and do a separate post of them on Monday morning just before the smile. (I will shoot for around 7 AM EST).
***
Please note – I am going to be visiting family at the end of the week and the beginning of next week. I may not read all of your wonderful Smile Posts and there will not be a recap/round up post next week. There also will not be a Smile post next week. See you all again on the 12th of July!

Dear Trent,
My smile for the week is turning vegan, and loving the journey. Here goes:

Meanwhile, my 13 year-old and I were chatting yesterday about how much we miss our swims. All pools are shut due to covid and it’s been a while we took a beach holiday.
Your weekend and week sounds relaxing and fun. My weekend was great too. Went birding in the wee hours and then got a nice chop/snip with a purple streak. Saturday we watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding and went out for a dine-in of sushis and South East Asian fare celebrating the 23 year-old’s birthday.
Have a good week ahead.

Yes, I did have a nice weekend, and it was nice to swim, even if the water was cold and choppy. Hope you and your 13-year-old can swim soon!
It does sound like you had a great weekend. Early mornings in nature are always great.
I’ll be by to see your smile in a few minutes.
I hope you are having a good week :)

It just sounds so fun all that you do, I hope your appliances settle in well. I hope the rest of this week is just as funnerer as the last.

It sure is wonderful to have some time off. For me I believe it’s mainly the freedom to do what I want with my time, to not have to adhere to any clocks. I often turn my phone off and enjoy the silence, sometimes on a walk, a bike ride, or with a book. Your mini vacation sounds perfect. We are enjoying a staycation, like last year, but with some more freedom to explore the region. Last year we were recommended to not go further than 1-2 hours from our home, this year there’s no restrictions like that.

It was great to have the time off. I do watch the clock more than I should, but I stay away from my phone! Actually, I try to stay away from my phone as much as possible anyway – I never carry it when I walk or run.
Since you are still exploring your new home, even if it is close to where you grew up, I can see a stay-cation with short trips out being perfect.
Did you start a new blog? I don’t recognize “GreenDreams”. I’ll have to go check it out.
Hope you have a great week!

I think it’s wise to disconnect from time to time. This region has a lot to offer, a great variety of landscapes. Tomorrow we are going to explore a “new to us” area, I am looking forward to that. Have a fabulous week!

Glad you’re getting a break.
This week I smiled when I visited a deaf school and one of the young boys was telling me what music he liked. He signed * I S S, my rudimentary sign skills guessed what he said but his teacher started to tell him off for being rude, I turned to him and stuck my tongue out and help up the 🤘🤘 sign with both hands and he got excited I’d understood and nodded vigorously and stuck his tongue out too. The teacher was about to tell him off again and I turned and said, no, sorry that is my fault, he’s trying to tell you his favourite band is K I S S and the main singer sticks his tongue out. She’d never heard of them but it certainly gave me a chuckle.

lol, I’m sure having two almost week long vacations so close to each other is something most people would wish for… Even if both of them are “home” in some way (from my second house to my childhood house).
