Hello and Welcome! Come on over and take a seat. It is a nice morning, though it is a bit humid. Cool enough for a hot beverage, though, so I can get you a mug of super strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or other similar beverage. Oh, were are we? Some may recognize the photo as being from New Hampshire.
Some of you who are observant may know that I haven’t posted in a while. In fact, my last post was July 1. I was away for most of that time. I went to northern Ohio, on the shore of Lake Erie, to visit family. I stayed with a sister, but my parents and other sister live in the same town. My brother came to visit, as did two of his three kids. All of the other nephews and nieces made appearances, as did their kids (for those who have kids).
Saturday afternoon was the reunion of sorts. We also had a big brunch on Sunday, though slightly diminished. Of course there was a lot of time socializing with family.
I also did a few rounds of disk golf, went kayaking three times (once in Lake Erie, twice in a nice estuary, Old Woman’s Creek). There were walks and a couple of runs. Some photography, with a few nice eagle photos (I haven’t looked at them yet). But mostly it was visiting and socializing.
Work was busy, particularly after having almost a week off.
I haven’t done too much since I returned. Some walks, dog play, dog walks, exercise, reading, music, etc. the typical. I hope to run today and I need to mow today or tomorrow.
That is about it. I had a great week away, but it is always nice to get back into the routine.
Thanks for stopping by! I have to get out and do a few things. I hope you are having a great weekend. If you have a coffee share post, I will try to visit, but no promises.
Natalie the Explorer is now the host of the weekend coffee share and she is doing a wonderful job. Stop in at this week’s main share page or go to the InLinkzlinkup to see all of the other shares!
Yes, I’ll have a mug of super strong dark roast!
Sometimes just sitting around with a good cup, and a pal is all I need!
Thank you, Trent!

Thanks for the coffee Trent but thank goodness it’s virtual as I’m needing to get back to sleep. Have felt myself cooking and having just turned down the electric blanket. It was set to roast.
It’s Winter here but fairly mild. I’ve been trying to get in some beach walks as my back and neck are sore and it’s also good for the psyche. With being Winter and in lock down and after the stress of so many friends passing, hibernation has been very appealing, especially with working on my book. Im desperate to get it done. Im trying to motor along, but I keep finding more interesting soldiers to research and a project like this needs time. Can’t be too rushed.
Anyway, I can feel myself falling back to sleep and will head off.
Best wishes,
Ro

It does sound like the book is going well – hope it continues to. Something to keep you focused during this rough winter. I do like winter walks on the beach. They can be peaceful :) Thnaks for visiting – I hope you were able to get your sleep in :)

I’m going to put one up today in my weekly smile post. Not sure when I’ll get to others – I haven’t gone through photos in months and have thousands to look at!

I’m glad you got to go see family. The past year has isolated us from those we love and it’s good to see everyone again.

Thanks, Corina. It was a very isolating year – I haven’t seen any of my family members in exactly 2 years (it was 4th of July 2019) so ti was great to see them all.

Hope you enjoyed your stay. Old Women’s creek is the perfect place to kayak and to find eagles flying around!

Thanks, it was nice. When ever I visit my parents, I have to spend a lot of time at Old Woman’s Creek. It is less than a 10 minute drive from their house and I can always see an eagle or two…

So nice to finally see your family after such a long time!! It’s been way too long for me to visit my sister’s and brother but they are all in different states so it will be many weekend trips over some months to visit everyone. Haha, I suppose we should plan a reunion, one day maybe! Have a wonderful weekend!! 🤠

It was nice seeing everyone after two years. We do have a reunion of sorts every year, which is good. Now that my two sisters are back in my home town, it makes it that much easier. Hope you had a great weekend and have a wonderful week ahead :)

Glad you had a nice break, Trent. So you had a fair bit of rain your way?

Thanks. Yes, a tropical storm came through Florida and up the East Coast and dumped quite a bit on us. Not terrible, and we do need the rain. We do get the remnants of a couple of storms or hurricanes come through every year, but I think this one was still considered a tropical storm when it hit us.

A tropical storm in your neck of the woods. I suppose the temperatures I hear of in the US have been hot enough for a tropical storm. I guess that is why you might have needed rain? Does the rain come in winter or summer generally in your area? Or perhaps both?

We do get tropical storms, and even hurricanes, up here and always have, though a system that is still officially a “storm” might hit every two or three years or so while hurricanes might be closer to 10 to 15 years apart. Every year we do get the remains of storms, or a storm will go close off the coast, or maybe hit a little south of New England. Of course farther south of us, Florida, the Carolinas and the Gulf coast get hammered a few times a year….
It usually rains or snows all year round here, there is no wet season or monsoon. The water table is a little low mostly because the last few years have had little snow – when snow melts, most of it sinks into the ground and helps fill the aquifer, while rain pretty much just runs off, particularly if the ground is frozen. Our weather patterns are also a bit weird. We had a month with little rain, which isn’t normal, and now we are in a super wet spell – the rain last night was as bad or worse than the tropical storm!

I hear this from all quarters now, Trent. The weather is weird, it is wrong/different/unpredictable. I guess it is nature telling us.

Yep, the weather has been weird and unpredictable all over the world. Nature is screaming at us…

Hey Trent,
Tis the season, yes.
We have a trip scheduled to go south and visit our youngest in far southern Calif.
I’ll be taking a week off of work and dread the backlog that will be waiting for me but the time away should be refreshing and I can’t recall the last time I took a whole week off.
I hope mine goes as well as your’ did.

It was interesting to travel again after well over a year (it’s been two years since I’ve seen my family). Have a great trip to see your youngest. Hope the backlog at work isn’t too horrendous when you return!

I’m so happy that you had such a wonderful family reunion. And on the shores of a Great Lake, well, that makes it even more special! I hope you post some of those photos, the Old Women estuary sounds interesting, but kayaking anywhere would be fun! And of course…a bald eagle? Well, that’s just cool.

I never saw an eagle growing up, but it is hard not see them now! They are all over by the lake, and there are a couple of nests in the estuary. Thanks! Hope you are enjoying your weekend :)

Family reunions are a good thing!! Have a great weekend. Will Elsa dump a pile of water on you too?

It was great to travel again… Yes, we had quite a bit of rain as Elsa moved up the cost. I don’t think as much fell on my place on Cape Cod, but it was closer to what was left of the eye and so had much stronger winds.
