If We Were Having Coffee on the 21st of August, 2021 #weekendcoffeeshare

Hello and Welcome! Come on over and grab a seat! I’ll get you a nice dark roast or a cuppa, but let me know if you want something cooler – it is a bit steamy today. It has been very humid most of the week and will get worse as Henri makes his way up the coast. Where are we? Some may recognize the photo as being from New Hampshire

I left Cape Cod early Sunday, even if there was still family visiting. They are my wife’s family, and she was (is) still there, so not a problem. I brought Alexander back with me, but the dogs stayed on the Cape.

Work has been busy over the last week. I mean, it is usually busy, but it does fluctuate, and this was a busy part.

I did some work around the house, exercised and ran three times. I have been getting out of the routine, so it was a little difficult, but with a run last Friday (not included in the three), I have been pretty consistent for a week. I hope to keep it up… I walked, but not as much as usual – for one thing, Thursday was a washout. I also didn’t have as much time as I’d like. And the cat demanded on being out a lot ;) He was mad at me on Sunday when we got back, and actually tantrumed when I tried to bring him back into the house after our first couple of “walks”! After a day of getting used to NH again (read, sharing the house with Grace, who he hates), he was much better and quickly returned to normal. I also played a bit of music, keeping my synths on most of the day so I could play as I walked by, plus doing finger exercises at least once a day on the (real) piano. I did a little editing, but decided to let it sit for a couple of weeks so I can look at it with fresh eyes when I return to editing.

Today looks like it will be a nice day, so I need to get outside and move before the wet, tropical weather hits on Sunday – this will be a hot, humid week after the storm pulls that tropical air up here!

Thanks for stopping by for a visit :) If you have a coffee share, I will try to stop in, but, as usual, no promises (maybe on Sunday, when I will most likely be stuck inside). Hope you are having a great weekend!

Natalie the Explorer is now the host of the weekend coffee share and she is doing a wonderful job. Stop in at this week’s main share page or go to the InLinkzlinkup to see all of the other shares!

Yes, Grace is a cat. We had three cats, but lost two over the winter. Alexander came to live with us in May and James (maybe) came today! The shelter called him James, so he will either be James Bond or Jimi Hendrix…

Grace wants to be only cat, so was not very welcoming to the house – she beat up on Alexander when he first arrived. i think they are doing better together, but there is still little love between them – Alexander usually hisses or growls when she gets close, and then runs away. She might give chase, but she no longer searches him out to beat him up.
Hope your weekend is going well :)

Make my coffee EXTRA strong, and pour it over a large mug of ice!
    Thank you!
I’ve not gotten out of the house much. I too, love walking, but it’s been so hot and humid, a heat stroke is 10 blocks away.
Music sounds good. I had a great music week, with TBURB playing on Wednesday.
I hope your cat is okay. I’m on his side! LOL, I’ll always side withe the cat!
Have a fab rest of weekend, and a great week, Trent!
    Hope Henri treats you okay.

I make my dark roast pretty strong… I’ll our it on ice for you.
I’m stupid – I go running when it is super hot and humid, and start my run with a huge, steep hill. But there comes a point where even I stay in, and I think we’ll reach it this week – it looks awful!
Little Super Scamp is fine, even when he throws a fit because I bring him in too soon… There haven’t been any fights with Grace in a while (Grace wants to be only cat), but he still often hisses or growls when she is too close, and then runs away. If he walks away, she is fine. When he runs, she gives chase, and the fights occur if she catches up to him. So if you are always on the cat’s side, you have to pick which cat ;)
Hope your weekend is going well and that you have a great week ahead!

Thanks, Trent! You have a great week ahead, too!
        Hmm, I pick both cats!
LOL…. I have a mother and son… BEST friends, until the attacks begin!
I’m aching to find a day to go for a long and glorious walk.
Unfortunately we are under a heat warning, have been for days.
110 F today, and seemingly no let up until Friday at the earliest!

I have AC in my office, where I am currently sitting, but the rest of the house is pretty sticky… (I did a long walk, and then came back and walked the dogs, so can’t complain too much about being sticky ;) ).

I take him out on a leash and let him roam while I follow, leash in hand. Lately, though, he has been hunting, which makes it difficult for his human! Thanks. Hopefully both homes will be a miss in this storm.

I saw the news about that storm Henri that’s heading towards your neck of the woods. We’ll be praying for you guys caught in the thick of it. Our kitty, this week, has decided that everytime I walk past her is an invitation to pounce, bite knees, and run. Not sure what’s up with her, but she’s close to tasting wallboard. Little imp-ette. :)

Yeah, Alexander does like to pounce as I walk by, though he doesn’t bite much in those pounces. He has drawn blood a couple of times, but I think it was more my fault – 99% he uses paws, not claws, and does a pretend bite – I think my jerking was what made the teeth sink in. As to pouncing, it’s a cat thing…. Looks like I won’t be hurt too bad by the storm, but it is always good to be prepared – even at a distance, it is those super intense bands that cause damage.

It seems I was not alone in the busy IT world last week. Both you and our blogging peer EC had rough weeks too. It sounds like you still carved out time to be creative and enjoy life despite work. I was pleased to get two new stories out the door despite not really having time to have done so. You have heat and humidity. We have smoke from the never ending California fires and a raging recall election of our governor. I’m sick to the bone of politics but since it’s an election I have to give it some cycles of thought to vote wisely.
    Thanks for the visit.
I’m off now to get some editing and maybe some writing done as well.
    Have a great week.

Hi Gary. A few things – luckily my work week was busy, but not really rough. Also, one good thing about my job is that unless there is a major outage I need to take care of or some scheduled update, I work bankers hours (well, 7 – 3:30). I have had some of those 9 PM Friday evening calls because our main www site is down, but for the most part, even weeks where I am going crazy while at work without time to think, I still am only working 40 hours, unlike a lot of IT people I know… (Most of my busy this week was on going projects, personnel changes, helping other people, meetings, etc., not outages). Sorry you had a rough week.
I didn’t get as much creative work done as I would like, but it sounds like you got a lot done.
Yeah, those California fires are awful! A few weeks ago the air in NH was so thick with smoke from the west coast that visibility was at about 2 miles and the air stunk. I’m glad I was 3,500 miles away and not 50… or 5!
I am so glad I don’t have to think too much about politics now. There are a lot of disputes in NH, and friends of mine are on campaigns to make sure people know what is being voted on, but everyone is still in their own little echo chamber, so….
Anyway, hope your weekend is going well! Have a great week.
