Now this week’s smile is an odd one in that I wasn’t really expecting it, but… OK, I know, it has been a tough week. Floods, like the one in Tennessee, hurricanes and tropical storms, fires, countries falling to extremists, etc. , but let’s try to find to smile about.
On Saturday afternoon I was only thinking of animals in takign care of Grace and Alexander 9the two cats) and the puppies, Fiyero and Idina, who were going to be home soon. When I called to see where they were, I heard the word “kitten”.
It was pouring rain on Sunday morning. Henri had made landfall. We drove almost an hour to a humane society located in Swanzey, NH. It was a very nice facility. There we looked at a little kitten named “James”. He was a tiny thing, most likely the runt of the litter. He had come up from Georgia.
And he came home with us.
Most likely the name “James” will stay, but it will be changed to “James Bond”.
He is tiny and very disruptive. He is very active and has explored the house. he has some interaction with the dogs, mostly positive. Alexander hisses and growls and is obviously put out. Grace comes out to be fed and then goes back into hiding.
James slept on me half of the night and then next to me the rest of the night. The dogs were on the bed, but he didn’t mind.
No photos yet. Coming soon.
I’ll be honest, I did not want another kitten so soon after getting Alexander. Obviously when I have a cute kitten in the house that seems to like me, I am going to like him. And his antics does make me smile.
So that is my smile for the week, a new kitten to disrupt life in our house.
What made you smile?
Note – I may not be able to have a smile recap next week.
****
Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week. Why don’t you share it? I hope you can join in!
Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas. If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity. Don’t smile about the misfortune of others. Don’t smile in a way to excludes others. Make sure a 12 year old can read it.
To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile. Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ). You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me). Next week I will compile all of the Smiles and do a separate post of them on Monday morning just before the smile. (I will shoot for around 7 AM EST).

Congratulations to James Bond for finding his wonderful forever home!!!

He says, “Thanks!” The name James Bond wasn’t working. He came to us as James, so we kept that and made James T. Kirk, but call him Tiberius. All of our cats have been named after royalty, so that works. And funny, he never answered to Bond or James, but he does Tiberius!

He says it took you long enough to figure out he was Royalty and give him a proper name! I don’t think any of my three cats ever came when called

Yep, that is exactly what he said! My cats come when called only if they think they are goign to get something ;)

Welcome James!
I love that your kitties all have such dignified names! Do they both have namesakes?

Typically we name our cats after royalty – Alexander (the Great), Grace Kelly, Claudius, etc. We are actually changing James’ name – he is now going to be James T. Kirk, but called Tiberius (Kirk’s middle name, but also an emperor).

Ah! I did wonder. I love the play on Captain Kirk’s name doubling with the Emperor.

Thanks. I do have to admit, though, that even though I am the “word-smith” of the family, that little play on words for Tiberius’ name wasn’t my idea – my wife came up with it.

He’s a great kitten, and super cute, so a huge smile, but he is also sick right now… I hope we can get him better soon!

AWW!! New kitten! Can’t wait to see some photos. I would agree not wanting a kitten so soon after getting Alexander, but I’m sure everyone will be fine together 🤗 (eventually!). I’m taking a bit of a blogging break, but am still visiting others when I can. I Love all your animals!! It makes me SMILE! 🤠

I have tried a few times, but for some reason he resists the camera. Still a few issues between the three cats, with poor Alexander stuck in the middle, but hopefully it will smooth out soon. Enjoy your blogging break! Thanks for stopping by :)

How serendipitous that I posted a painting of a flood. Didn’t know about all these floods in the news! <y weekly smile are the mountains at the entrance of Zion Nat. Park. My image does not
reveal the massiveness of it:)

I have an aunt who lives just a few miles from the awful flood in Tennessee. We had a little flooding from the tropical storm, but nothing like that!
