Hello and Welcome! Come take a seat and I’ll get you a large mug of very strong dark roast, a cuppa tea, or some other beverage. It is a beautiful day! The sun is shining and the sky is a deep blue. It started out almost cold, but is pretty warm now. You can feel Autumn in the air. Oh, where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as being from New Hampshire.
OK, I can’t go farther without mentioning the date I wrote at the top of the post. Yeah, it has been 20 years since the terrorist attacks of 9/11. I have a friend who is a retired NYC firefighter who is down in the city this weekend. In 2001 I worked in the air traffic control facility that first reported the hijacked aircraft and made the decision to ground all of their planes – watching documentaries it is always interesting to see people I know being interviewed about it. So I am thinking about the date, but I don’t want to bring it up beyond acknowledging it.
I had a bit of a vacation at the end of August, so this week was very much about catching up at work and getting back into a NH routine. Not too much stands out. I ran a couple of times and did my exercises. I bought a set of Bowflex dumbbells, so I used those on Thursday for the first time. I had massage on Wednesday. I walked the dogs and Alexander – he is a very much a hunter! I played with cats and kittens. I puttered around the house. I played music (keyboards). I got back to editing. I read. Typical week in most ways.
I have spent a big chunk of the morning outside and plan on going back out soon – it is gorgeous! Autumn is by far my favorite season of the year. I love being out in it, even more than in the summer.
Anyway, that was a hint that I am signing off ;) Thanks for stopping by! If you have a coffee share I will try to stop by, but, as always, I can’t promise – the outdoors are calling and I may not even think about a computer for the next 48 hours!
Natalie the Explorer is now the host of the weekend coffee share and she is doing a wonderful job. Stop in at this week’s main share page or go to the InLinkzlinkup to see all of the other shares!

Wow, I know you don’t want to talk about it but you were in the thick of things on 9/11. I want to just say thank you for all you do. Even though you aren’t doing that any more, you still had a lot on your plate. I can’t imagine being there in that compacity. Anyways, thank you for the coffee and it sounds like a wonderful outdoors weekend!! It was a great weekend here too! 😎🤠🐴❤️

Hi Diana, as I said to Gary, for the most part it unfolded for me pretty much as for everyone else except that I knew there was at least one hijacking before the public did. The big difference is that when I read the reports and saw documentaries on the ATC side of it, I knew all of the names, most very well as they were people I worked with every day.
It was a nice weekend to enjoy the outside. Glad it was a great weekend there as well :)

I hope you’re getting lots of outdoor time! It’s too hot here for that–96 and rising.

Wow, that is too hot! Today wasn’t quite as nice as yesterday, seeming more of a throw back to late August, but it was still good to spend a lot of time outside :)

H Trent. I don’t recall knowing that you were at ARTC for 911. Wow, what strong memories you must have. Have you ever captured the memory in writing? I bet you would have a compelling story to tell, hard, but very – very real.
Just a thought. . .

I was an air traffic controller in another life (or so it seems…) and worked at Boston ARTCC (aka ZBW) for most of my career. I had been on a national team outside of the Air Traffic Organization for a few years when they moved me out and to a “non-Operational” facility a few blocks away. (I think that was in 2014 or 2015).
9/11 occurred long after my ATC days, though I was still working for the facility at that time. Although I was at the center that day and knew all of the controllers, supervisors and managers involved, I wasn’t part of anything. i heard rumors about an active hijacking, so I was able to connect the dots of what was happening before they announced it on the news, but for the most part it unfolded for me the way it did for most of us. I didn’t meet my NYC firefighter friend until a few years ago, but there is a man who would have some stories to tell!

You involvement in the airline industry would make it all even more personal, Trent. Enjoy your Sunday.

It is a bit more personal, though, of course, not nearly as personal as it is to some people I know.
Thanks, Robbie, I hope you had a good weekend and have a wonderful week ahead :)

I hope you got to enjoy some great time outdoors! Autumn is a gorgeous season. Some of the trees are starting to change colours now. I can’t wait to see the show they will display in a couple weeks. Thank you for the coffee. Have a great rest of your weekend, and a fabulous week to come.

Autumn is by far my favorite season. We have a little color, but it will peak out in early October. Strangely enough, a lot of maples are losing their leaves right now without them changing color. I’ve never seen it happen like that and I hope it doesn’t ruin the vegetative fireworks this year…
Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful week :)

Thanks. That is strange, with the maple leaves. I wonder why?

It is odd. I did a few searches and couldn’t find anything. It was an odd year – first too cold, then too wet, then too hot, then too cold and wet, then too hot again, then too wet again… I saw some say the leaves are falling early because of drought, others because there was too much rain , some because it was too hot and some because of the late frosts.
It was a weird mix of extremes.

I am hearing you on your preference to mention 9/11 as you did. Each person with direct knowledge and experience of the day itself must do/be whatever calls for the best for him/her. Thank you for sharing. We here in Australia, heard and saw the event unfold too…but it was in the late night news going into the early hours of Wednesday 12 September.
Take care, go well and thank you for sharing.

It was a huge day in history and changed the world quite a bit, most of it not for the better. It still affects every person alive. I originally wasn’t going to mention it in this post, but since it is such a huge event… It is interesting to see how it was experienced and perceived in other parts of the world.

It’s great the weather is outside appropriate for you all. I had to look up bow flex dumbells they look so cool. I used to be a gym junky, 4hrs a day. lol. Maybe Alexander should be named after the most famous hunter of all, Elmer Fudd, be vewy vewy quiet, it’s wabbit season.

They are great weights, though a bit expensive. On the other hand, much cheaper than a gym membership! I had plateaued in work out because of equipment, so with today’s workout, I am already pressing ahead, so it is already making a difference :)
One problem is that Alexander is a much, much better hunter than poor Elmer. Even with me holding his short leash he has caught a few critters! My guess is that if I let him loose, he’d come home with a waskily wabbit….
Hope you are have a great weekend!
