If We Were Having Coffee on the 18th of September, 2021 #weekendcoffeeshare

Hello and Welcome! Come on over and I’ll get you a nice large mug of a super strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage. It is kind of funny out, warmish and humid. It will get almost hot with high humidity later today before we return back to normal early autumn weather on Sunday and Monday. It was a strange week weather-wise… Oh, where are we? Some may recognize the photo at the top as being from New Hampshire, and there is a story in that…

The main theme of the week has to be about dental work. I went in Tuesday afternoon for a filling. I had chipped the corner off of a tooth that had an existing filling back early last winter. Anyway, when they were starting to work on it they discovered that the damage had grown. I had lost the filling and had another chip. A decision was made to do a crown, but they couldn’t do it then. So the put in a blob-like filling while the admin people researched Insurance (or lack there-of – even my dental insurance sucks for dental work). I went back in on Thursday and had the the crown prepared and a temp put in. So I will have another visit later. Yuck…. One thing, I had planned on going to Cape Cod on Wednesday night. The Thursday appointment made that a no go.

Work was, well, work this week.

I had a Lions Club meeting, which was good.

I walked and played with the dogs, walked Alexander (cat), played with cats quite a bit (James T Kirk, aka Tiberius is a play machine!!!) and played with dogs. I did a bit of editing and some reading. One thing I did not do any of is blogging – I did my smile posts on Monday and have not looked at the blog since. I am currently thinking about the future of the blog…

I played music and decided to put more emphasis on practice. One thing was is that I downloaded sheet music for Bach’s Little Fugue in g minor. I was surprised that I could sight read pretty smoothly up until the pedal part comes in. I will continue increasing practice.

I also exercised and ran. With the new weights (see last week’s coffee share) I have been able to push past the level I had plateaued at, which is great. On one of my runs I saw a momma bear and some cubs (most likely two).

Well, that is about it. I need to get out and about today. I do have some plans, but mostly will just wing it. Being outside, though ,is the important thing here.

Thanks for stopping by! If you have a coffee share I will try to stop by, but, as always, I can’t promise.

Natalie the Explorer is now the host of the weekend coffee share and she is doing a wonderful job. Stop in at this week’s main share page or go to the InLinkzlinkup to see all of the other shares!

Interesting! In what way are you thinking about the future of your blog?
I think about the future of mine, too.
I’d like to take my street art blog (GLAM) and my Art Gowns blog & fuse them into 1 blog.
Still, it feels like ne’er the twain shall meet!
    Be well, Trent!

My posting has become very erratic, and I may keep it that way… I may go back to being more random and eclectic and not doing as many challenges. Right now my focus is shifting from writing to music, and so the blog will follow suit. More than that, i don’t know.
I understand about wanting to combine your blogs – I’m sure it is a pain to keep them both up. There is, though, a very natural divide. If you started doing more posts that were neither street art nor Art Gowns, it would be easier to fuse them.
      Have a great weekend!

Music is a wonderful direction! The heck with challenges, if you can make music.
It’s about the passion. Making the Art Gowns is a passion for me. As odd as it is, it is my chosen art form.
You have a great weekend, too!

It is always best to follow your passions… I’ve always been involved in my music, but lately I want to concentrate on it a lot more, so… :) I’m not surprised that your art gowns is your passion. I think it is fun how you’ve taken that material interest (pun intended) and expanded it into a blog stories with your friends like Holly and Marina.

Thank you! I adore drawing the girls, the AGMs PBH, RR & RB.
Also, I have a fine feeling since I began making the Art Gowns out of trash, materials that objects that were destined for landfill.
Have a great music week, Trent!

    Hi Trent,
I picked up with a sense of horror you’ve wavering involvement in blogging. However, thatctly what I’ve been doing for the past year on and off. I’ve been needing to focuson my WWI research, but I’ve also realized I haven’t been doing enough writing or refueling my creative writing and poetry sides. So, I’m reconsidering. My life has also undergone considerable change. My health is largely a lot better and my kids are growing up. Our son will turn 18 in March and Miss will be 16 in February. So I’m no longer writing about young kids either and they need more privacy now. The dogs are another story.
I’ve made a lot of really good friends through the blog and I’ve tried to maintain those.
Like yourself, I’d also like to see 48 hours in a day to get everything done.
Hope the trips to the dentist work out okay and we don’t hear stories of you standing on street corners trying to pay it off.
    Best wishes,
    Rowena

Yeah, it is a combination of lack of time and lack of motivation. I do like keeping up with the people I’ve met here, but it is difficult at times.
I’m glad that your health has been better :) I know you’ve had a little difficulty finding the time as well, so understand the time crunch thing.
I try to keep a pretty tight budget, so I’ve had to move a few things around in my spreadsheet, but I’m not quite out on the street yet ;)
Hope you have a great week!

I have discovered that the main difference between humans and other animals is that we voluntarily sit in a dentist’s chair and have them do outrageous things to our mouths, while no other animal would stand for it… besides that, not much difference between us. I am hoping to be back on the Cape on Wednesday.
      Have a great week!

I hope your next dental appointment goes well. It’s a thrill to see wild life like mama bear and her cubs in their natural habitat from a safe distance. Thank you for linking up with #weekendcoffeeshare.

Having a drill in my mouth two days almost in a row was tough… The next appointment is a month away, so… Seeing nature is always great, and the momma bear and cubs was very cool :)

Hi Trent. Sounds like a mixed week for you.
    Some reactions.
I really want to find a way to use “Tiberius” and since we don’t really do pets due to allergies, I may have to find a way to sneak that name into a story. I recall as a very young kid hearing it as the middle name for Star Trek’s James T. Kirk and recall thinking at the time that it was brilliant. Naming a cat Tiberius is just perfect.
About the future of (your?) blog. I hope it survives in some way that I can stay in touch with your writing efforts. Count me as one who hopes for an adjustment rather than an abandonment as you move on to something else. Our coffee sharing has changed over time and perhaps the type of creativity it draws does not inspire you as it once did, something like that. Would it be interesting to share a creative paragraph each week with some wrestling thoughts about how you are crafting a developing story, like a glance into the mind of an accomplished story writer as he tunes a moment in the story. I’d find such a practice compelling and engaging, but that also may feel like inviting people into a place you rarely allow visitors – so perhaps would be an unwelcome challenge to balance. Anyway, I hope whatever new path emerges is one I can continue to follow.
    Blessings.

Tiberius’ full name actually is James T Kirk, but called Tiberius (he was named “James”, so that’s the way we did it.” Funny, but when we named him J. T. Kirk, I had forgotten that one of my nephews had gone by “Tiberius” on Facebook for a few years. He’s the “rocket scientist” (he’s an aerospace engineer that calculates satellite orbits).
As to the blog, I most likely won’t 100% leave forever, but I may take a hiatus. Or I might continue with just the smile posts and the coffee share (when I can). You know I voted for 18 hour days and 9 day weeks (4 day weekends, of course), but nobody seemed to have listened and I have about 1/4 the free time to do all of the things I want to do. I don’t watch TV, so can’t free up time there…. I had slowed down blogging significantly through August, and when i tried to pick it back up, the motivation just hasn’t been there. As I said, I’m not going away quite yet, but I will most likely change how I do it so it doesn’t eat so much of my time.
Anyway, I hope you had a great weekend and have a wonderful week ahead!

I have never heard anyone say they had good dental insurance. I think it is mostly a benefit added into some healthcare plans to look like you have something extra. I think there are some options you can get on your own. The dentist is never a fun place to be the shots to numb hurt worse than the procedure. Enjoy the dogs, cats, and wildlife you get to see.

I do have an added dental insurance beyond my normal insurance, but I don’t know if it does anything at all. I think dental work is at the bottom of most people’s lists of things that they enjoy… It was great seeing a little wildlife when out on my run.
Hope you are having a good weekend.

Thanks so much for the coffee Trent! I think we all hate the dentist, something I’m avoiding as long as I can. Those kitties sound like FUN! I do enjoy the smiles but totally understand if you don’t do the smile posts anymore. It should never be like a job. I know you’ll decide what is best for you!! Or is it blogging in general… I’d miss ya, maybe you could just post weekly or every other week. Anyways, I hope cooler weather is in your forecast. Take care! 😍

The animals are all fun, and with a 4-month old (about) kitten in the house, there is never a dull moment ;)
It is blogging in general – I just can’t find the time. I usually take a few minutes from work, here and there, but now, if I have a break, I have other things I have to do. And when work is done, then animals take more time. And then, if I start playing my keyboards at any level i will need to carve in space to practice. And… It seems I just don’t have the time, particularly if I read posts by people I like – that is by far the most time consuming part. Anyway, I will do at least one or two posts a week. Most likely i will keep the smile (for now) and try to do a coffee share most weeks, but after that? I’m not sure.
Anyway, looks like a lovely day here :) Hope you are enjoying your weekend. Have a wonderful week!

Yes, I am in the same boat with time and blogging! I totally get it and have had to cut back. Reading sure does take the most time, I agree. Sigh, I’m enjoying it the best I can reading and writing. Thanks for sharing! 😀

Dentists Yuk, here in Aus are beyond most peoples budget including health funds which I guess is kinda like your insurance. We have free clinics but the job they do I have found to be non lasting & nothing is followed through. $10,000 is what I have been quoted for what I need done, lol, sure book me in tomorrow. Love the antics & fun of your menagerie & so cool to see cubs & Mumma that would be just beautiful. Stay fit my friend.

Yikes, it would be hard looking at $10,000 of work! I don’t have that type of cash just lying around… Despite dental work, it was a great week, made so mostly by animals, domestic and wild :) Hope you have a wonderful week.

I think a lot of people are takign a break. When I do post, I’m getting less than half of the views I was getting in the Spring, and most of the link-ups have far fewer participants. Maybe, after being forced indoors, the world is burnt out of sitting at home in front of a computer ;) Hope all is going well with you and that you have a great week!

Uhg, 93 is too hot! It was in the mid-80s earlier in the week and will be low 80s today, but both with high humidity – I think they called the “real feel” 93 on Wednesday…
Hope you enjoyed your visit to the northeast! I’ve been off the blog, so missed it if you posted anything about it. Where did you go?
I hope you are enjoying your weekend!

Sorry to hear about your tooth, but it is good that its getting fixed. I think I am going to have a dental visit soon myself for some exposed roots (yikes!). Anyway, hope you have a great weekend. Thanks for the virtual coffee.
