Last week I had a pretty exciting smile – seeing a bear and its cubs as I ran. Not something that happens all of the time! But this week there isn’t anything like that. I mean, it was a pretty good week and all, but nothing really stands out.
Of course the big event of the week was going to Cape Cod. Yes, I do it quite often, but I had planned on going down there earlier but had to change plans because of dental work. So it had been a couple of weeks since I had visited.
Of course it was a wet few days. I wasn’t able to go to the beach or kayak. I didn’t mow (it needs it!) or other work. Yeah, sticking out into the ocean means that it rains a lot more there than on the mainland…
But it was nice.
This was the first visit in a while with no animals. In some ways not great, but in other ways – not having a fuzzy body on top of me meant that I could sleep! And that is pretty much what the visit was about – relaxing. I was able to get out a for few walks, despite the almost constant rain, including a long one at Bells Neck, one of my favorite “hiking” areas down there.
That is my smile for the week, going down to Cape Cod for a relaxing weekend.
What made you smile?
(Note – in the near future I will stop doing the Smile Recap posts).
****
Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week. Why don’t you share it? I hope you can join in!
Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas. If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity. Don’t smile about the misfortune of others. Don’t smile in a way to excludes others. Make sure a 12 year old can read it.
To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile. Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ). You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me). Next week I will compile all of the Smiles and do a separate post of them on Monday morning just before the smile. (I will shoot for around 7 AM EST).

Sometimes the very thing we most need is rest. A chance to just meander and wander, stop, take better care of ourselves, because it’s just what it is. It can be frustrating, especially when there are things that need doing (like mowing) but our plans don’t pan out – but it’s still a gift, an opportunity. And really, don’t you find that, as The Stones offered, we can’t always get what we want, but we get what we need, instead? Small slices often pack more bang and boom for the buck than we allow or give credit for. 😊
Have a most wonderful week, I hope and enjoy the renewed company of your furry companions, I’m sure they’re eager to meet and greet you, especially at bed time 😉

Nope, you can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometime, you just might find…. and I guess i did need a bit of a rest, though it still wasn’t enough – I was not ready for work this morning ;) My furry friends were all very happy to see me and have been keeping me busy :) Have a great week!

For some reasons my dogs don’t understand why I think sleep deprivation is such a big deal… I’ll be by in a few :)
