If We Were Having Coffee on the 2nd of October, 2021 #weekendcoffeeshare

Hello and Welcome! Come on over and I’ll get you a large mug of very strong dark roast, a cuppa tea, some hot cocoa or other steaming beverage. Steaming? It is a bit chilly this morning! It will get pretty warm later. OK, warm is a relative term. I’m talking maybe 68 or 69F (20 C). We had a few days this week which were even cooler. In fact, those days felt like early October! lol. September was warm. Oh, where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo as being from New Hampshire.

It was an odd week. Work was very busy, but not insane.

This week I had a Lions Club meeting, which was, I think, our second face-to0face meeting in a year and a half. I also got a hair cut – I needed it! I didn’t do before and after photos, but there is a huge difference (it was May when I last had it cut).

I started some of my normal autumn preparations, but am a little behind because of warm weather. I wore shorts until a week ago, I wore a jacket for the first time on Tuesday, I shut all of the windows in the house on Wednesday… Yeah, usually by now I am putting plastic on windows!

There was the typical dog walks and play, cat (Alexander) walks and play (mostly Tiberius), and human only walks. I ran and exercised. Tiberius is sick again, so we are takign care of him. Poor little guy ( he is on my lap). I did a lot of reading. I did zero blogging. I posted the Weekly Smile posts and answered comments, and that is it.

I have been playing a lot of music. I have been having a hard time getting enough time (not sure why (animals!)), but have been sticking little practices in here and there through the day. Hopefully it will start to to come together soon….

That is about it. I will try to spend as much time outside as possible today. I need to do some more “winterizing” and such around the house. I need to practice. My animals think I need to give them 24×7 attention… So I will stay busy.

And that being said, I am on my way out! Thanks for stopping by :) If you have a coffee post, I will try to stop in at some point, but my screen time is at almost zero these days, so no promises.

Natalie the Explorer is now the host of the weekend coffee share and she is doing a wonderful job. Stop in at this week’s main share page or go to the InLinkzlinkup to see all of the other shares!

Taking the break is nice, but it does feel good to make those connections again. Of course, I very often go months (or more!) of not seeing or even talking to my “know in the flesh” friends, so it is a similar thing here.

The fall photo at the top is beautiful, very inspiring! Idaho say that your weather sounds perfect. I hope you are enjoying a lot of time outdoors this weekend. I did spend a lot of time reading, but I also went on a couple longer walks. The air is very fresh this time of the year, we’ve had some light rains this weekend.

Hi Maria. So far no real color here this week, but I did get out quite a bit. It started raining yesterday afternoon and is going to continue through he end of the day tomorrow. This is my favorite time of year to be outside.
Hope you have a marvelous week!

    Hi Trent,

Odd weather and New England seem to go hand in hand.
You still get the most dramatic color shows each fall and I envy you.

We almost moved there, oh, 35 some-odd years ago, but the manager I was working for changed the job offer at the last moment and was annoyed with me when I declined to take it. This proved to be the start of my path out of Sun Microsystems (remember them?) and after I left, my career really took an unexpected, wild and very successful series of turns. I finally landed at Oracle where I thrived and learned gobs of cool things but was still shocked when Oracle bought and absorbed the shell of what Sun Micro had shrunk into.

None of this took us back to New England though and I regret that part of the path.
    Thanks for the visit.

We do get a lot of odd weather here, but this year has been strange even by our standards… I do hope that we do get some good color this year – we are about a week behind, and yet a lot of the maples have lost their leaves without them changing color – I read that it was due to the stress from this odd wet and warm year and the molds that thrived in that environment. Anyway, we will see. Looking at photos of this week in previous years, well, it is a huge difference…
I do remember Sun. I remember a huge Sun campus in Burlington that later became an even bigger Oracle campus. Of course when I moved here everything was DEC.
Hope you had a good weekend and have a great week.

I guess I haven’t been paying attention since the last I heard the UK was warmer than usual, but I think that was in August. Yeah, strange weather all around! Hope you are having a great weekend (and staying dry ;) ).

Thank you for the coffee Trent! Animals! Yes, FUN but time consuming. Sorry to hear the little one is sick again and hoping he recovers fast. It’s nice the weather has really cooled for you as you get ready to winterize your home. We are having a very warm weekend here in the 90’s, but it cools in the evenings. Have a wonderful weekend!! πŸ₯°

If animals don’t take a lot of time, you aren’t doing it right ;) Little Tiberius is eating and playful, but he coughs, sneezes and wheezes a lot. We did get him into the vet, but they didn’t want to give him antibiotics, since he was just off of the ones we gave him before.
Wow, 90s! We did get into the 70s today, which was nice, but 90-s is just too warm for October! Hope you are have a wonderful weekend :)

yes, pets…. we promised ourselves not to have another cat until we are mostly housebound, so that we can be spontaneous and just decide to go somewhere without planning…. at least that is our thought right now! 😌

It is hard to live without kittens… We have been takign both of the new kittens back and forth with us to Cape Cod, so that helps, but there will be time coming up when we’ll need someone to care for them. Hope your weekend is going well.

It has been a warmer fall here too. I was just think that we are into October and the heat isn’t on all the time yet; it has only been on a handful of times if that. Wonder what this might mean for the winter…

Hope you have a great weekend Trent. Thanks for the virtual cup of coffee.

I try not to turn the heat on until October, and this year I may make it until half way through the month (forecast is for warmer than usual for at least a couple of more weeks). It might be an odd winter.. we’ll see.
Hope your weekend is going well :) Thanks for stopping by.

I have so much yardwork to do in preparation for winter. Delayed here too because things are still blooming, it’s still so warm. And because I don’t want to do it. Katie’s kidney disease is getting worse. And she had a seizure last night. So mostly right now I’m sitting and watching her and trying not to hyperventilate when I think about having to make the decision.

I do have a lot of yard work to do, both in NH and on Cape Cod. I do a bit of raking, but save a lot of it until spring – I have read that it gives a lot of wildlife a place to winter and I’ve found that despite what people say, it doesn’t kill the grass.
Sorry about Katie. Yeah, I hate making that decision :( For our last two cats (last winter) we didn’t really make it, they did for us and passed peacefully at home.

I just retired from caring for children. Our household has 2 dogs and I care for my granddog on weekdays. The demands from pets are no different than those from kids. Retirement isn’t what I thought it would be. :-D LOL

lol, yes, fur kids can be very time consuming! One problem is that we took the cat Alexander out on a leash very early, now he thinks every time the dogs go out, he gets an equal amount of outside time! I need to retire just to have time to care for the pets…
