I will post this week’s smile in about an hour. What made you smile?
Hi Trent,
It’s great that you keep encouraging people to smile, and look on the bright side.
What made me smile in the last week?
I’ve been really stressed after being in lockdown for 3 months, and feeling that the needs of vulerable people like myself aren’t being considered as we open up has been hard. I’ve tried fighting and expressing my views, but it’s hard when so many people can’t put themselves in my shoes. They can’t even see my position at all. I was clearly wasting my breath. However, I have started to prepare for inviting people who are double vaccinated and playing it safe over. For quite some time, I’ve been trying to get rid of my husband’s big fish tank which has been out the front of the house for years and it looks terrible. THe table it was sitting on has fallen apart and we decided to rebuild the top, but again nothing had happened. Then, a friend offered me a table about a month ago, but it had to clear the other table and fish tank out of the way first and try to discuss this carefully with my husband. He’s very busy with work and has been painting the house and doing so many jobs. However, I have been feeling really bad for awhile and I think he finally got the message that setting the table out the front would be a game changer for me. So, today, the fish tank and table got moved out the back and I spent hours trying to sand back the table top with the orbital sander. I’ve now moved onto the belt sander. Don’t know why he didn’t give that to me in the first place. The table top is oak and is vanished. SOmeone tried to sand it across the grain with course sandpaper and it looked like a cat had scratched across the surface. I was thinking of people coming over for dinner and counting all the scratches. I spent hours trying to get rid of them and they stubbornly stayed put. The belt sander has taken way all the scratches and probably much of it’s personality too. I guess it will start developing more personality at our place.
I hope you are going well.
Best wishes,
Rowena

Glad the fish tank was moved. Sounds like you have a good project. I’m sure over time the table will develop more personality again. Have a great week!
