The Weekly Smile for the 1st of November, 2021 #weeklysmile

Hi all. It was a strange week. Very wet. But there were pluses. One, of course was yesterday. Yeah, some of you may know of October 31 as Halloween or even Samhain, but I have a different word for it – Birthday. That is right, my birthday is October 31.

I had a pretty mellow day. I did eat out on Saturday to celebrate. I also had some gifts on Sunday. Oh, and there were yummy birthday cookies. But the big thing was the weatehr – it had been a wet, cold week. OK, Thursday was OK and Friday was pretty nice (both days cool), but the rest of the week was very wet and cold. Saturday was awful. And Sunday was mostly sunny and warmish (65 F/18 C). I spent a lot of time outside. Fiyero wanted a very long walk in the woods. OK, a jog, and he jumped in a pond to cool off! I did my long mountain run. And there were more normal walks. I also finished rerecording the music I posted a week or so ago, so that was nice. I talked top friends and family. All of those birthday things :)

So that was my smile for the week, a nice birthday spent the way I like, being outside and being creative with some family and friend time mixed in.

What made you smile?

(A reminder – There will not be a Smile Recap post next week).

****

Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week.  Why don’t you share it?  I hope you can join in!

Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas.  If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity.  Don’t smile about the misfortune of others.  Don’t smile in a way to excludes others.  Make sure a 12 year old can read it.

To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile.  Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ).   You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me).  Note – I am no longer compiling the Smiles into a Recap post. I’ll try to get the new smile out between 7 and 8:30 Eastern Time.

Thanks. Actually, Halloween isn’t bad – I would hate to have a birthday around Christmas! I can see summer vacation not being fun. Hope you have a good week as well :)

It made a great smile and even if I did not get to send you a birthday gif yesterday – I am glad we were able to comment chat a little on the actual day
Blogging time goes up and down for so many of us and glad I was online last night – and I might have added two smiles in the same week – sorry if so – but Trent – i had to link to the smile with derrrick’s post because his interview would not have happened had it not been for our little dorrit challenge – so the link to your blog was going out not matter what – the smile came when I was early for the posting –
So do you feel any older ?

My blogging has been so down the last few months, I guess I’ve been jumping back into it with both feet… It was fun to have that little almost-real-time chat :) I think you linked to last week’s smile, so no problem if you do another this week. We need to start thinking of the next challenge, though I vote for something different this year, perhaps a book by Fyodor Dostoevsky. But there are still quite a few Dickens books I haven’t read, so…

Well Trent – we were almost in real time and that is truly fun when it happens! It has happened twice with Sherri matthews and myself and just had a different feel!
And I might let you pick the book – it does not have to be dickens either – just a spring reading challenge ?

I think “Spring Classics Challenge” or some such and we chose 19th century classics. I’ll think about it – I may go with one of the Russians, but…

I have had one or two real time conversations via the comments. It is fun :)

A lazy Sunday spent in the garden in my jammies, enjoying the sunshine, honeyeaters fossicking in the bottle brushes. Surrounded by bees in those same trees, sharing coffee and books with my beautiful husband. Made me smile! And, happy birthday to you, sir.
