This was written for Colleen’s weekly poetry challenge. This week we were given a photo by Lisa Smith Nelson to use for an ekphrastic poem. I chose to write an interlinked series of three hiakus, using forms 2-3-2, 3-5-3 and 5-7-5. And, of course, I used a little alliteration…

I really like the creative thinking here – using 3 forms of haiku – because it forms a lovely cascade – allows for an expansion of the poem – and it feels like a soft fluttering of wings – or breath – when reading it. Delightful Trent. :)

Thanks :) I’m happy with how this turned out, with the flow and expansion :)

Love the purple ink. Nice, never heard of ekphrastic poem before, I learn something new every visit.

It is funny, but from the beginning of my blog I have almost always used purple for my poetry. It fit this one more than most!

It’s lovely, and I love the alliteration. So pretty to read aloud.

Thanks. The alliteration started subconsciously. After I noticed it, I only changed a couple of words to fit the sounds.

How lovely, and that you have an image with complimentary colors works so well too!
