Hello! Some of you may have noticed that I have been missing for a few days. I have been traveling. I drove down to Stone Harbor, New Jersey after work on Thursday and drove home on Sunday afternoon. Stone Harbor is on a barrier island at the very southern tip of NJ. My brother has a condo down there. My sister drove out from Ohio and the three of us had a nice, long weekend.
Not a whole lot to say. We walked on the beach a lot – gorgeous beach. We walked through a nature preserve and around a light house.

There was also a lot of family time and discussion, eating out (and in), movies, etc. In other words, a nice family get together. Well, a few members of the family, but nice. Well worth spending over 13 hours on the road.
That is my smile for the week, visiting my brother and sister in Stone Harbor.
What made you smile?
(A reminder – There will not be a Smile Recap post next week).
****
Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week. Why don’t you share it? I hope you can join in!
Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas. If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity. Don’t smile about the misfortune of others. Don’t smile in a way to excludes others. Make sure a 12 year old can read it.
To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile. Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ). You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me). Note – I am no longer compiling the Smiles into a Recap post. I’ll try to get the new smile out between 7 and 8:30 Eastern Time.
I love that you had family time – so very precious!

Yes, I try to spend time on the beach all year :) This, of course, was more special because of the family time. I’ve just started to prepare for Christmas and have a couple of parties coming up. A big blogger party sounds fun :)

also, the smile was from holiday memories – but also I do think of Trent’s World when the name dickens comes up – and with a smile

Little Dorrit did make an impression… What do you think of Dostoevsky Crime and Punishment for next year? Long and dark?

I would prefer to not have long and dark – like seriously – can we do short and light or medium length and upbeat?
Really not in the mood for dark and heavy

Sure, we can do something else. Any suggestions? Did you want to continue with it being Dickens?

Hi trent – it sounds well worth the drive with lots to smile about and get refreshed with family

Yep, little else besides family could entice me to drive so far for a long weekend. And it was worth it :)

Sounds lovely, relaxing and just like a slow and restorative weekend :)

It was a very nice weekend. Driving in New York City rush hour traffic wasn’t too slow or relaxing, but being on the beach after the drive down… ;)

traffic – ugh! NYC traffic – I imagine a nightmare! But you made it, safe and sound, and reaped the benefits, which ultimately, hopefully, recharged you as you spent time with family :)

Yes, I did get to recharge, and visiting family is always good :) (Traffic was bad, but I was half joking – I’ve seen worse!)

Great your family is not too far, so you can get together for a weekend. Mine is now 26 hrs. away and a plane trip across the ocean, but the next best is the phone and internet:) My smile this week is a downward view of a river on one of our Utah trip Have a great week:)

Thanks. I’m about 12 hours from my sister, so it is nice that we can split the difference by both driving to my brother’s place and can do these weekends together (it was still almost 7 hours each way, and 9 for my sister). But that does beat over a full day of travel! And it is doable for a long weekend. We are in pretty much the same region of the same country, so…

I love family time together!! What a wonderful smile post and I love the photo of the light house too. That’s wonderful you are fairly close to each other at least it’s drivable! I wish my sister’s and brother were closer for visits. We are so spread apart in 5 different states. Have a wonderful week!! 😀

It is nice to visit family. We don’t visit very often (I do often stay with my sister when I visit my parents), so it was nice to have an “out of sequence” visit. Now that we know how easy ti is, we will most likely do it more often. (We are 3 states – Ohio, new Hampshire and Pennsylvanian (Philly area) – my brother has a place on the southern Jersey coast).
Hope you have a wonderful week as well :)

Thanks, it was wonderful :) Family get-togethers are always great, and the distance is never too far, if it is 25 miles or 380 miles away.
