Hi all! This was an odd week. After the last few weeks full of activity, I did very little. Nothing bad happened. OK, worldwide plenty bad happened – I do have relatives that live very close to the tornadoes (some just a handful of miles from Mayfield) but luckily came out unscathed. Anyway, nothing bad happened to me, and, as my last sentence shows, there were even smiles for my relatives in some of those awful things that did happen in the world. But overall, it was just another week. Sort of.
Actually, all weeks have their own points, if we think about it. No matter how “normal” they are, each one is an individual piece of time, a singular slice of our lives.
This week I figured out a few songs, recorded one and just spent a large amount of time playing. I like playing my keyboards, so plenty of smiles.
I set up and decorated our Christmas tree.
I played with kittens and dogs. The kittens are obviously fascinated by the tree!
I had some social time with various family members and friends, including several “bump in-to’s” on my walks with and without dogs.
After over a week off, I was able to get a good solid run in.
I did a great longish walk.
There were a few good things at work. Nothing major, but still nice.
Maybe no huge highlights, but I had plenty of smiles just doing things that I enjoy.
And that is my smile for this week, just doing those things that I enjoy doing, such as playing my keyboards, learning new music, socializing, setting up for Christmas, etc.
What made you smile?
(A reminder – There will not be a Smile Recap post next week).

Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week. Why don’t you share it? I hope you can join in!
Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas. If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity. Don’t smile about the misfortune of others. Don’t smile in a way to excludes others. Make sure a 12 year old can read it.
To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile. Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ). You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me). Note – I am no longer compiling the Smiles into a Recap post. I’ll try to get the new smile out between 7 and 8:30 Eastern Time.
Hi T
love those “bump in-to’s” for the everyday smiles :)

Thanks, Yvette. I didn’t like to call this one “the small things in life”, which I have done, but “every day smiles” is great description :)

Do they kitties try to bat the ornaments?

Yes, pretty chill. The kittens aren’t too bad so far. The like the tree, but haven’t been destructive. Yet ;)

Glad to hear your relatives are okay. And that the kittens are enjoying the Christmas tree! I hope your ornaments survive the holidays! 🐈🎄

Thanks. So far little damage to the tree. One bulb is missing, but I’m sure it will be found whole. I hope… ;)

When nothing bad happens and there’s at least one or two things about which you can smile? I call that a GREAT week. We all know the rest of the world is a mess, but for this month, I trying to focus on family, home, and turning the next year into a better one than the last. Our tree is up and the lights our outside on the old tractor. We have some lights on the big window and even though it’s December we still have flying squirrels visiting at night. I guess the weather has confused them since they should be hibernating by now.
Merry whatever you celebrate!

It was a pretty good week. After having a couple of very busy weeks, even if they were busy in my personal life and not work, having a down week is not bad :)

Yeah, I did the Christmas tree thing last week as well 9helped by hubby because we have is standing on a stand, so I can’t reach doing the lights up to the ceiling. The squirrel so busy carrying his nut is one of my smiles.

I do use a small ladder for the top of the tree – makes it easier. I usually do most of the tree decorations because I can get a bit anal about bulb placement ;)

Am opposite – the more random the better:):)

I do like random, and that is the problem – others in the household may put six of the same color clustered together, or leave huge holes with no bulbs… I make sure every spot is filled and that there are no or few clusters of like bulbs. I don’t want patterns. I go for a kind of Jackson Pollock look.

Glad you had a good but relatively normal week! My smile last week was doing the Christmas concert on Tuesday night. And of course Katie who is chugging along toward her 15th birthday.

Wow, almost 15. Not a puppy any more… I’m sure the Christmas concert was nice. Yeah, a normal, laid back week is always good, particularly after having a few high key weeks.
