The Weekly Smile for the 10th of January, 2022 #weeklysmile

Hello! It has been an odd week. After all of the excitement of the holiday season, after all of the excitement of the snowy owl, after the joy of getting my new ‘fridge (last week’s smile), after all of the great food, the family, the friends, etc., this week was almost a let down. OK, I’ll be fair, it was a return to normal. I had to put in a full week of work, I had to shovel snow, I had a lot of chores to do, etc. Normal.

I wasn’t frowning, but after the last few weeks, what stood out to make me smile?

If all else fails, there are kittens! Kittens are always worth a smile :)

Tiberius is about 7 months old, maybe 8. He is super playful and super cute. This week he has been even more active than usual. He played with anything and everything. Just a constant fur ball of energy. Alexander, who is maybe 17 months old and still a bit playful though says he is now a dignified “cat”, is worn done by the little guy, who then goes and forces Grace to play, plays with both dogs, with the humans and then by himself.

OK, so he did stop on occasion and he has a few places where he likes to lie down, including the huge dog bed on the floor of my make-shift office. The funny thing is that the big dogs will often come in and lie down with him. It doesn’t bother him at all, and he just curls up closer to their warmth. What is strange is that in the past the dogs would avoid the room when there were cats or kittens in here. OK, they might sleep in the bed when Albert was in the room, but if Albert wanted the bed, he had it to himself (most of the time).

I think little Tiberius ha endeared himself to all of the animals in the house, two legged and four legged. He does force himself on you ;) He is also cute.

So that is my smile, having a cute kitten “terrorizing” the house and all of the occupants.

What made you smile?

(A reminder – There will not be a Smile Recap post next week).

****

Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week.  Why don’t you share it?  I hope you can join in!

Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas.  If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity.  Don’t smile about the misfortune of others.  Don’t smile in a way to excludes others.  Make sure a 12 year old can read it.

To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile.  Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ).   You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me).  Note – I am no longer compiling the Smiles into a Recap post. I’ll try to get the new smile out between 7 and 8:30 Eastern Time.

Tiberius has won everyone over :) Our other new “kitten” (Alexander is about a year and a half now) does not get along with the old female cat, Grace, so it is funny that Tiberius won her over. If you remember, Tiberius was so sick the first month and a half that we had him. Just that he is bright-eyed and moving makes me smile! (And he is super adorable :) ).

Oh I am still smiling to imagine Tiberius as the ball of energy and also reminds me of our last week – we are dog sitting again and the visiting dog is 14 months and is that ball of energy and where out Elway (4yr old lab) – but they play and make their way
and Trent – I think someone is sneaking in “cute pills” into their food – because they are so cute – like your brood of cute pets
    :)

lol, I am sure the 14 month old puppy (it’s still a puppy at that age in my opinion ;) ) is super cute and playful. Older dogs do like to be enticed to play, even if it wears them out.
Tiberius was so sick shortly after we got him. He didn’t totally kick it, and it came back a couple of weeks later. We were finally able to get the a real vet visit and took care of it. So from almost dead to non-stop – just seeing him alert is a huge smile! :)

Taro the 14 month old is totally a puppy T, and it is that innocence, energy, and his learning mode that is so fun – but it is A SERIOUS THREAT TO PRODUCTIVITY!!

I knew about the kitten’s health issues and the effort (and $) invested in the restoration – and so that made me smile even more to read this post

Puppies and kittens do always make us smile. Most of my life, I’ve had a dog, and a couple times I had a cat. But the past several years, I haven’t tried to have pets due to my totally unstructured work schedule and no good big yard space for them to get exercise if I’m not feeling up to taking them for walks. I’ve been way off on my blog posting this whole year, but I’m going to TRY to get something together for this week’s smile.

Dogs and cats are always reliable for a good smile :) I’m sure it is tough not to be able to have a pet now. A cat would be easiest, but if that is undoable as well…. I did very little blogging the last few months, down to just my smile posts through December, but I’m picking back up. Hope you find time for a smile post :)

He is a fun and funny kitten :) One of the things I didn’t mention is how sick he was as a baby kitten – part of that big smile is how well he is doing.

Thanks. Actually, his name is Jame Tiberius Kirk, but I think he lives up to just plain Tiberius ;) All of our cats are named for royalty – they wouldn’t have it any other way. Happy New year.

Animals do make life more joyful – if I ever get to the point where a playing kitten can’t make me smile, it is time to throw the first shovelful of dirt on ;) Yes, I do feel blessed to have them.
