If We Were Having Coffee on the 15th of January, 2022 #weekendcoffeeshare

Hello and Welcome! Come on in. It is frigid out there and the wind is howling something fierce. Here, I’ll get you a large mug of super strong dark roast, a piping cuppa tea or some hot cocoa to warm you up. Better? Oh, where are we? Some of you may recognize the Edward Gory mug as being close to his house on Cape Cod.

So I drove down here Thursday evening. It rained all day Friday (Cape Cod was the only place on the East Coast to get rain, and it was pouring when I got up at 5:30 and was still raining when I checked at 8 PM in the evening (I could hear the wind after that, but didn’t check the rain situation). It was 25 degrees (F) cooler at 8 PM than it was at 5:30 AM – the temps just fell all day and then all night.

It was a cold week up in New Hampshire and will be a colder weekend. It has thrown my exercise routine off, and I feel it. I did walk the dogs a little, and played with them. I did some strength/weight exercise, but no cardio. Besides that, last week was a super busy week at work. I had massage on Wednesday. I read a little. I played music, though not as much as I would have liked.

After getting down here (Cape Cod), I did a little repair work, but found a few things I can’t fix right now. I’ll most likely have to hire a carpenter. I have a thousand little projects around the house for today. OK, a few major ones as well, like replacing the wax ring in a toilet that leaks. I also need to get outside or I will burst. I may even run, even though it will stay well below freezing all day. I also will practice a little – I do have a keyboard down here, but mostly just for practice.

And that is mostly it. It is deep winter in New England.

Thanks for stopping by! If you have a coffee share I will try to visit. Have a wonderful day :)

Natalie the Explorer is now the host of the weekend coffee share and she is doing a wonderful job. Stop in at this week’s main share page or go to the InLinkz-Linkup to see all of the other shares!

Yes, a good way to stay warm! It is funny since I usually think of India as hot, but I know it is a very large country with a large variety of terrain, including some of the biggest mountains in the world….

    Hi Trent,
We have an ancient house too, and there’s always something to be done, and too much stuff in it. I at least cleared a bit of stuff out last night and threw some magazines I’d been holding onto in the recycling. With our son at camp, I’ve also washed his bedding. He is almost 18 and I’m still raiding his room to clean it when he’s not around.
There’s something about the extremes of heat and cold that, at least for me, are equally unproductive in terms of getting outdoors and exercising. It’s been very humid here and so I’m indoors with the air-conditioning pumping away. The dog is asleep on my lap.
Hope you have a good week ahead.
    Best wishes,
    Rowena

Old houses are a joy… lol, but I’d hate to love in a new one. I think I do even worse in the heat than the cold, but both do make outside activity difficult. I hope you have a wonderful week :)

Hi – in Virginia (Richmond area ) we got snow that was then a sheet of ice – then it turned to rain- and today dry, windy cold and most snow gone
What about you all? Buried in it?

When I got up there was almost 8 inches and it was coming down. But then it turned to rain. It stopped around noon and was down to about 3 inches of slush. Nasty, wet stuff. My socks were socked inside of my waterproof LL Bean boots after shoveling… It’s going to freeze again tonight, so I just hope everything isn’t ice tomorrow morning.

I might try Pilates. I did get a row machine for the times I can’t get outside, but I can’t get even close to the same cardio workout that I get from even a short run. Yes, I can always loose myself in music, and hope to all afternoon :) Hope you are having a great weekend!

Yikes! Our hot spell finally broke and the last two days have been freezing – we’ve dropped into the 60s…. during the day!!! Of course, we’re all wearing parkas. 😁 Stay warm and good luck with your projects!

You get used to the cold when you live here, though you never get used to as frigid as it is now! lol. I don’t do well in the heat, so I guess there is a trade off. Thanks for stopping by. i hope you have a wonderful week!

Yeah, we have been having huge swings as well. It was in the negative numbers last night and will hit the high 40s tomorrow (50s on Cape Cod!), then swing back to the single digits by Wednesday. Yuck.

I saw the weather report on the news and immediately thought of you and your family there, YIKES! I hope you can get outside for a little bit to at least stretch your legs. I have family in the New York area so they are further South/West of you I believe. You’re the only one I know up in the New England area. Stay safe out there and thanks so much for the warm mug of coffee! ☔🌧️☕🤩

Thanks. I’m back up in New Hampshire this morning and it is super cold, but not as windy as yesterday on the Cape… I don’t mind the cold too much, but I hate the heating issues! I hope you are having a great weekend and have a wonderful week ahead!

I do love four full seasons, but when I look at my energy consumption on these ultra cold days… yikes! I want to live some place a bit warmer! Hope you had a good week (I’ll be by soon to see) and have a great week ahead.

When I hear people talk about frigid temperatures I’m so happy to be in Ireland! It’s rare that we get below zero although it happens in the winter but today it’s 9 degrees C and raining – quite boring weather but it’s ok for winter and I have guitar work to do anyway.
I agree that when it’s too cold the exercise & getting out routine gets a bit disturbed. It’s not really appealing to go out in certain weathers.

I’m sure it is a little colder in Sweden than Ireland… Actually, I visited Ireland once, and it was right around New Year. Yes, I had to wear a coat, but not super cold. Yesterday it was about -10 C on Cape Cod and almost down to -20 C in New Hampshire (below 0 F). But the bad thing is that it was super windy so it felt much colder. Brrrr.
I hope you have a wonderful week and plenty of time on the guitar :)

The cold and rain certainly have an impact on our routines. I hope you get outside for a bit today. I am hoping to get outside with the boys today to. Our cold snap has ended and we are no longer under a cold warning. Thanks for the virtual coffee. Have a great weekend Trent.

Thanks. yeah, the -40 is windchill – it got down to maybe -2 in NH last night. I am driving back tonight and it might get down to a balmy 1 ;) But it will warm back up as the storm moves in. Today on the Cape it was “warm (19F) and sunny, but windy, so it felt cold.Have a great week and stay warm.
