If We Were Having Coffee on the 5th of February, 2022 #weekendcoffeeshare

Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a nice, strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or a hot cocoa. Be careful not to slip on your way in… We had a bit of an ice storm yesterday, and I have been trying to chip out this morning, but haven’t made much progress. This storm was one where it started as rain, turned to freezing rain, turned to sleet, turned to snow (slush on the ground) and then instantly froze as soon as the storm pulled away, so it isn’t that think clear/black ice, it is a porcelain cover over everything, but as hard as steel. Oh, where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo as being from New Hampshire.

So, I am in NH once again? Sort of… I did drive down to Cape Cod Tuesday afternoon and drove back Thursday evening. I wanted to check the Cape house for damage after last weeks awful storm, where hurricane force winds ripped through as the snow that fell was measured in feet. OK, so when I got there I had to work a few hours with a shovel to get parked. Other than that, all was fine. I left early because of yesterday’s storm – they were originally predicting over a foot of snow (30 cm). But then the change over from rain to snow occurred much later than expected, so we have three inches (8 cm) of porcelain instead.

So, what else this week? Work was pretty busy and a few set backs, hopefully minor, on all of the projects I am working on. I did a bit of music practice and am working on a new song – for once I want to actually have more than just a slight idea before I start recording! I didn’t bring cats nor dogs to the Cape with me, but did plenty of puppy play and such when up in NH. I had a dentist appointment on Tuesday (I left for Cape Cod right after the appointment) and had an appointment for my passport on Monday. I think last week I told you that I have had at least two or three appointments every week this year, and it isn’t slowing down until March! Ugh! Stop the world for just a while so I can do what I want and not worry about stupid appointments and work projects! lol. Venting done ;)

One issue with all of the appointments and the odd weather is that I have exercised less in the last two months than I have typically been exercising every two weeks and I feel it! Yuck. My blood pressure is higher than it has been in years. Hopefully come March I will be able to start running three times a week again (I ran three times in January). I was able to do strength exercises once this last week, so… Anyway, now the venting is really done ;)

I also did some of the usual things, like read, so, despite some grumbles, the week was pretty good in a lot of ways. I enjoyed being on the Cape, even if just for two days and with all of the shoveling. I have been down there during bad storms and such, but not at the new place – it was so strange to see our road reduced to a single lane. But there was no problem walking, so :)

Anyway, that is about it, I need to head out and do stuff. Thanks for stopping by and listening to me complain chatting. If you have a coffee share I will try to visit.

Natalie the Explorer is now the host of the weekend coffee share and she is doing a wonderful job. Stop in at this week’s main share page or go to the InLinkz-Linkup to see all of the other shares!

This morning, as I was eating breakfast, I realized that I missed putting out my post yesterday! Oh well, I will do it today. I have my Smile Post first thing in the morning, so will do this one around noon.
I’m about 120 pages in, so making some slow progress :) I’m still only reading before going to bed at night, but expect to get caught up enough to actually sit and read soon….

Hmmmmm….. glad you see a pattern or difference in time of day of posts – I am not sure of what is best for my blog – but the stats reports they sometimes offer said Sunday afternoon was my most viewed – something like that.
And either way – I think once we share a couple of posts (reminders) the word will get out as it needs to…. right? And more is not always better / rather have a handful of us with rich discussion – and Marilyn sure did have a nice huge comment last year that was so honest and showed her seasoned lot knowledge with good criticism (even tho I find I am opposite of her in many areas – for example I loved pride and prejudice and still do whereas she despises that book) but sure was glad for what she added as well as a dozen others (or more) who chimed in.
And so far from my kick off post I think three folks said they might join us! Right on!
But you know Trent – even if it was just the two of us that would be a win!
I am super excited and might pick one day a week to pour into bleak house ….
            Hm
Well have a great day and talk to you soon
            📚😊🙏

Lately my Sunday posts get about 1/3, sometimes even a half, less views than weekday posts.
I agree, this we we should try to get the word out a little more, and between the two of us, plenty of people will see it – I’m thinking maybe monthly posts, or at least two reminders before “the event. This is for me – you do whatever and it will all work :)
I agree that a small amount of thoughtful discussion is better than a lot if inane chatter, but it would be nice to get a discussion of some sort. If not? As you said, it will still be nice if only the two of us do it :)
You too, have a great day :)

    Hi Trent !
I can relate to how it feels when we cannot exercise the normal way we want to!
And hope the ice is melting a bit! We had Cold rain rather than snow and ice – still a bit blah!

First thing yesterday morning I went to our DMV and dug up a 5 gallon bucket of sand. That helped! I grabbed another 5 gallon bucket and used half, but have the other half at the ready… We are supposed to have warmer weather and some rain this week, so hopefully the ice will go away…

Trent, January and February are high season ‘snowbird’ months in our area so our inconveniences have more to do with traffic and dinner reservations than inclement weather. I have been watching the storms in your area and am glad to hear that your house on the Cape fared well. I am ashamed to say that I skipped walking for a few days during our two-week winter. You have inspired me to do better. Take care and have a great week.

Sorry to hear about those storms, Trent, and having ice outside your door is terrible! I dislike ice more than anything else with the winter and I’m happy that we very rarely have it. Sounds like a busy week for you but it’s good you could fit in some music too. Did you ever start that singing class you mentioned a while ago?

Hi Susanne. yeah, I hate the ice as well. We don’t get it often and it is rarely bad the way it is in parts of the US, but never fun.
I don’t know when I’ll get time for singing lessons. Maybe this summer. For now I have started following a few Youtube channels. Not the same as having someone helping, but better than nothing.
I hope you are having a great weekend and have a wonderful week :)

The sun is finally out today, I hope it is where you are too. That always helps me. Next week I have a few appointments too, one on Monday is to donate blood, so that’s all good. The others are meetings…boring…but I guess necessary. I hope you have a good week and the ice goes away.

yesterday was sunny but it stayed around 20 all day and today started off colder and won’t get warmer. Oh well, I’ll continue to chip ice… I also need to run up to our road department and get some sand.
I hope it warms up there are as well, though I am guessing you got a lot of snow, so ti is pretty and Katie is most likely loving it.
Hope your weekend is going well and that you have a wonderful week, even if there are a lot of meetings and appointments.

I can run in the cold without issue, but not if it is raining or the sides of the road are covered in snow and ice… Last year I picked up a row machine, but it really doesn’t help my cardiovascular – I need a treadmill, and they are big and expensive!
Hope you are have a great weekend, and that you stay warm and safe as well – I know you got a lot more snow than we did out of this last storm!

Thanks, Trent. I’ve been busy all weekend. I’ve kind of started a side business formatting books and creating book covers for authors. I’m not sure if I’m ready for prime time yet, but I enjoy the detail work. Have a wonderful Sunday. <3

Hi Trent. Yea, we heard about the storms. Wow! Glad you’re hanging in there and being wise about dealing with it. I know you well enough to know I don’t have to remind you to watch that BP issue, but do do it. For me, I had to finally get serious about watching my blood sugar – which is a pain, but the result is that I’m healthier now even with post-covid stuff than I’ve been for many years of being sloppy about it.
    Blessings.

Thanks, Gary. yeah, the reason I know my blood pressure is running a bit high right now is that I am watching it. I’ve been watching since my late 30s so I know that pretty much only aerobic exercise can solve it for me – meds do little and diet less (I naturally like good-for-you food, so it is hard to have diet do anything!).
Thinking Covid-era health – I’m in better shape at the end of it than when we entered as well since I was able to be very consistent with my exercise through all of 2020 and 2021, better than I have been in my life. It seemed to all fall apart in November, but I’ll get back there again…
We are luck here (NH) that the storms haven’t been bad. Well, the ice is bad, but other areas were hit much hard with both storms. The Cape had it much worse for last week’s storm, but this week it was all rain.
I hope you had a great weekend and have a wonderful week ahead!
