Hi all! Happy Valentine’s Day. I hope everyone had a good week, or at least had one or two things to smile about. I actually had a quite a few small things, so, you guessed it, today will be an “all of the small things” post.
First, weather. January was very cold this year, so having temperatures up around 50 F/10 C was nice. I know, some people thing that’s cold, but, believe me, it was almost hot after what we have had ;) A lot of snow and ice melted. I spent a lot of time outside on Saturday -as much as I could!
I had a haircut this week (see my coffee post for before and after photos). Yeah, in ways I can be like a small child who hates to have his haircut, but over all it was a big smile :)
I received a new piece of equipment for my studio yesterday and spent a lot of time redesigning. Always good.
My exercise routine has been really off this winter, but I was able to exercise more this week than I have n a while, though still no runs.
Friday night, my boxer Fiyero was curled up on the dog bed next to my desk. The kitten Tiberius climbed up on him, they “nosed kissed” (touched noses for a minute) and then Tiberius climbed off slightly, but curled up pressed hard against Fiyero. Fieyro watched him for a while, then napped again. It was so cute!

There were other things that made me smile, like long walks at a jogging pace with Fiyero, reading, practicing piano, talking to friends and family and other such things. Overall, a good week.
Life is not really made up of a few huge, monumental events, though those events can change a life. No, the majority of life is all of the small things. If we don’t pay attention to those small things and make them count, life just rushes by. We need to be aware, stay in the moment and pay attention to the little things, like the color of the ground as the ice thaws – it was marvelous! or the purr of a kitten cuddled on a dog, or the warmth of the sun, or a friendly word from a friend. They are all important, and we need to feel them all, acknowledge these little things.
This week my smile was all of the small things that make up the moments of life. What made you smile?
(A reminder – There will not be a Smile Recap post next week).

Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week. Why don’t you share it? I hope you can join in!
Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas. If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity. Don’t smile about the misfortune of others. Don’t smile in a way to excludes others. Make sure a 12 year old can read it.
To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile. Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ). You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me). Note – I am no longer compiling the Smiles into a Recap post. I’ll try to get the new smile out between 7 and 8:30 Eastern Time.
Love the many smiles this week, Trent. And that capture of T & F … so adorable!

Thanks. They are so cute together! Tiberius has grow quite a bit in the last few months, so it was even cuter when he was just a tiny bundle of fur :)

We’ve never had problems with our cats and dogs – I think if they grow up together they just assume that is the way it is.

Tis the little things that so often have the biggest impact. Too adorable kitty & dog snuggling. Our big black dog(Walter) just stands really still not daring to move in case our little Turbo cat might see him. lol. Fun times

Cat and dog interactions are so funny, though, luckily, in our house they are mostly friendly, and even deeper at times, like these two snugglers :)

Typically we don’t take the time to reflect on those small things – I think it is important to occasionally sit back and see them :) Thanks.

Albert, our three legged cat from Kuwait (really!) that we lost a year or so ago was Fiyero’s best non-human friend, but nobody can resist Tiberius’ charm :)

Happy Valentine’s Day also to you. Its wonderful to see a cat and a dog in peace. Thanks for the reminder on haircutting. During this pandemic, and here is going on, i nearly forgot any former routine. ;-) Thanks for the laughter, and have a nice week! xx Michael
