Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a nice mug of very strong dark roast, a cuppa tea, some hot cocoa or other hot beverage. It is cold out there. Not super cold, and much “warmer” than yesterday morning, but for some reason it feels cold. Ah, the sun is coming up and soon it will feel great. We had “yo-yo weather all week with a few frigid starts to the days, but also some warmer weather. Looking ahead, we may actually have a stretch of early spring, as opposed to the winter weather! Were are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as being from New Hampshire.
This week? Hmm. Well, the less said about work the better.
I spent a lot of time this week working on a music project. It won’t be completed for a few more days, and then I will sit on it for a few days – I have gotten into a bad habit of posting music, and then going back and redoing large chunks of it.
I have also put the four movements of my piano sonata on YouTube. I will put up a post here about the fourth and final movement early next week.
I did write a little, but not much, this week. And I read some, though not as much as many weeks. Besides the music project, I practiced a little every day. I did get a little exercise in, including a very short run on Friday. Hopefully I can get back into running soon! I had some kitten care and dog play. Idina was not into walking this week. She has been stubborn about it for a few months now. I’m not sure what is up – she is fine playing and such, so I don’t think it is joint pain or anything. I did a few walks with just Fiyero and did get Idina away from the yard at least once every day except Wednesday.
Those are the big things. Well, except I did get my passport back sooner than expected. I had to laugh at the photo. I had the picture taken a week before my haircut. I was not able to comb it before I took the photo. There were no mirrors… On the passport, the photo is a small, black and white thing. There is a larger color version, but it is harder to see. I think I look like a wild west outlaw in the black and white photo. I tried to reproduce it here (not perfect, but you get the idea – it looks even worse on the passport!):

One thing, they tell you not to smile. If you smile, they have to take it over. So, wild hair, no smiling, black and white: wanted, dead or alive ;)
Anyway, I need to get started on some weekend projects. Thanks for dropping by for some coffee. If you hold a coffee chat, I will try to stop in and say “Hi!”
Natalie the Explorer is now the host of the weekend coffee share and she is doing a wonderful job. Stop in at this week’s main share page or go to the InLinkz-Linkup to see all of the other shares!
it does look like an outlaw photo – and I hope it looks enough like you when you travel so there are no problems = also hope the plans for august do not have obstacles – because you never know these days – :)

The face shape is pretty much me, so it shouldn’t be a problem (I looked at my passport from the 90s, and you can tell it is the same person!) Yeah, there are worries about traveling now. I do have refundable airline tickets and am thinking about trip insurance as well.

good idea to get refundable (and maybe the insurance too – yes!)
also, you are right – it is the face that counts for the photo and so it will be fine – do you miss your long hair?

I kept my hair a little long, so no ;) It isn’t even close to as long as in that photo, but still pretty long for a man. I’ve gotten used to the longer hair, so will most likely keep it this way for a while.

You do look like an outlaw from the wild west. LOL. I hope you have some fun vacation plans! I should renew my own passport.

I hope there aren’t any boarder guards that think I look like an outlaw ;) This will be odd as it is a family vacation – there are 18 of use traveling! We’ll be going in August (hope no big restrictions…) I’ll give more details as we get closer.

I think they told me not to smile on my passport too, but you did make me giggle at your most “wanted” look. Haha, I think your look is more like a rock star look, like Kris Kristofferson!! 😉🤩
Thanks for the coffee and I hope it starts warming up for you all there soon! Have a great weekend and week ahead! 🤠

I hope border guards think I look more like a rock star incognito than a desperado on the run… lol
Thanks, I hope you are having a good weekend and have a wonderful week :)

Ha! Passport pics are worse than drivers l8cense and Costco photos. Mine looks like I’m not well enough to travel.

I don’t know, my driver’s license is worse than my passport – I look like a desperado on my passport, but I look like I’ve been dead four days on my license. I do not want to be pulled over until it is renewed!

You’re not alone – my passport photo is painfully bad. I don’t even like admitting it’s me, I’d (almost) prefer authorities to think I bought it on the black market. 😉

lol, That’s how I feel about my latest driver’s license. I will drive the speed limit at all times so I never have to show it… Well, that’s a lie, but I will be careful!

Hey!
Congratulations on getting all of the music endeavors to the next phase in their development. Quite an accomplishment!
Spring is starting to wink in our direction as well… Can’t wait for it to come in full force!
Wishing you a wonderful week going forward!

Thanks! It is always great to make progress on these creative projects :)
It will be a little warmer this week, so we will get a few hints at spring. I can’t wait for the real thing to arrive!
You too, have a wonderful week ahead :)

Wow – no smile passport photos?
When did that happen?
I don’t have much of one myself, but others look good in theirs so what’s the problem?
You only have to put up with that passport for 5 years, so another opportunity to take a better shot is, well, humph – quite a ways off. Just smile at any border guard you happen across for some fun.
Have a great week Trent.

I just looked it up – on the State Department site it has “Can I smile in my passport photo? Yes, but it must be a natural, unexaggerated smile. Both your eyes must be open.” But the place I had the photo made, there were guidelines, including “don’t smile”, the person takign the photos told us not to smile, The photos came with a “Certificate for Biometric Passport Photos” that has a checklist with a dozen items, including “Mouth closed and not smiling”. I guess it is just the easiest way to make sure it is “unexaggerated”.
For adults it is 10 years, 5 for minors, so I guess I’ll have to put up with it. On the other hand, it will be very funny if I lose most of my hair sometime in the next decade ;)
Have a great week!

Hi Trent, it’s not such a bad picture. I think it’s rather nice. I’m glad you’ve had a good week. I’ve had an urge to write African poetry so that is now added to my other projects.

Thanks, Robbie. The original photo doesn’t look bad, but for some reason I think the way it looks in the passport reminds me of an old “Wanted” poster. lol. I know very little about African poetry, but, given where you live, sounds like a great new thing to add to your list. I am sure you project list can’t be that long, can it? lol (I hope the joking nature of that question came through). Hope you are having a great weekend and have a wonderful week!

You have the same weather as here it seems. Too cold for comfort. Cold mornings and decent temperatures during the days. Can’t wait to get warmer weather. We have a photography competition in the club with a coastal theme but honestly can’t see that there will be any weather for coastal walks before the deadline.. we’ll see. Good to hear you’re keeping busy with music.
Getting a picture taken for a passport is so difficult! It’s a miracle if you look good in it! I think yours is good though. I never look good myself if I’m not allowed to smile.

I think with the photo I am either a That’s me, a desperado. or a rock star, so hopefully the people checking it will think “rock star” and not “outlaw”. lol. Thinking “rock star”, yes, I’m really happy to be doing a lot with music lately. What about you? Have you been playing a lot? I used to occasional see a video of yours pop up, but don’t remember seeing one in a while.
I didn’t say it, but it snowed three times in the last week, so still very much winter. Even the warm weather we had mid-week did not do anything to the accumulated snow. I am hoping that our bit of warmer weather next week will make its way into becoming spring..
Have a great week!

I’ve been playing quite a bit but we’re very behind with our YouTube videos! The last few weekends have been a bit busy but hopefully we’ll post something soon again.

I can’t see the picture that’s worse on your passport of course, since I’m blind, but I had to laugh (thank goodness I’m not having my picture taken for a passport) at your comment about how the combination of your hair, the lack of smiling and the black and white picture made you look.
I’m so happy you got some exercise in. Glad you managed to get Idina out of the yard at least.

Idina took two walks today! The second was short, but still a major victory.
I do sometimes go pretty heavy on my photos, but I do try to put descriptions in. With this, it just reminded me so much of the “Wanted” posters from the wild west that I had to run with that idea when talking about it. Glad my description gave you a laugh.

How Trent won the Wild West! Thanks for sharing the photo. A friend of mine gets her driver’s license photo taken the day after a skin “peel” treatment on purpose, so her face is all red.

That’s me, a desperado. My license shot is even worse! But, at least I didn’t have a skin treatment the day before… I don’t know why, but when I opened the passport I thought immediately of a wanted poster.
