The Weekly Smile for the 9th of May, 2022 #weeklysmile

Hi All! It was a pretty low key week. I was active and the weather was mostly pretty good, but not too much happened. Still, I do have a smile lined up.

I am the typical guy in a lot of ways. One way is that I do not like to shop. Nope. That being said, I am not huge on getting clothes on line either, I want to see and feel what I am getting, even if it is the same thing I’ve gotten a million times before! OK, I do order my turtlenecks because I have found only one brand that works for me and they don’t have a physical store, so…

Anyway, back to the story.

It has been at least three years since I have picked up jeans or shorts, and even back then it wasn’t a one-for-one replacement – most of my clothes is at least 5 years old. When I took my summer clothes out of storage I noticed that my shorts, well, fine for sitting around the house, but they were all in pretty bad shape. And then the knee blew out in my favorite pair if jeans. Over the winter I “lost” another pair. It wasn’t the knee there, but let’s say I do not want to be arrested for indecent exposure…

Only one thing to do.

So off to the outlet mall and pick up some jeans and some shorts.

The outlet stores are close to some friends that I have not seen since before the pandemic. Well, the stores are a few miles from them, but there is a nice restaurant that is very close to their house. It is a Thai restaurant, which is food we all like.

So we had a very good meal. We sat and chatted for over two hours. Despite being Saturday night, the crowd was small enough that they didn’t kick us out ;)

So that is my smile for week, going out shopping for the first time in three years and meeting some friends I haven’t seen in those same three years for a very nice dinner out.

What made you smile?

****

Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week.  Why don’t you share it?  I hope you can join in!

Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas.  If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity.  Don’t smile about the misfortune of others.  Don’t smile in a way to excludes others.  Make sure a 12 year old can read it.

To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile.  Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ).   You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me).  Note – I am no longer compiling the smiles into a weekly post as I used to – Sorry, I do not have time.

    Dear Trent,

Apologies, I’m super late. Despite telling you I’d be back to comment. Recovered from a nasty flu and had a few errands to run to the hospital as well.

I’m simply thrilled you shopped and even met up with friends. It sure is reason for big smiles. I did so too recently after over 2 years, before I got sick and it was delicious to say the least. The catch up with friends and the shopping both.

Have yourself a wonderful new week!

No problems at all :) Sorry you were sick.
It is nice to start returning to normal when even little things, like shopping, feel big. And seeing friends – yes, it is great :)
I hope you have a wonderful week as well!

I use to really enjoy shopping and finding the best items on the clearance rack. Now I really have to think about shopping before I go out and about and I find it is NOT fun anymore, I think the pandemic stole that from me. Amazon comes to my house 2 x a day sometimes 3 just so I can avoid the stores. I do hate buying clothes online because they rarely work out. My husband hates shopping.

I know amazon was such a huge winner in the pandemic! I am sure I could buy more on line. Did I really have to try on jeans when I know I will get 31×32 505s (not prefaded/prewashed)? i tried on a few others to be sure, but ended up with what I knew I’d get…

I know there are one or two drawings that you reuse, like the drac, but are all of the others created for a specific AGM story? So most of the drawings in your latest were made just for that post? A lot of work! Hope the work on the real Art Gown is going well :)

I pretty much wear clothes until the disintegrate as well. I have wool sweaters that are possibly older than you… (I’ve had them since college.) And I said I would be arrested for wearing that one pair of jeans in public, but I still occasionally wear them – they’re comfy! But good Thai food and friends? Huge smile!

No, not late at all! I just posted this today, so there is an entire week left. I think I read this, but I will stop back by for a refreshing drink, I mean read.
I hope you have a wonder (and yes, delicious) week!

I have’t been in a store in about the same 3 year period. I am down to one pair of jeans. I don’t know about shorts…still too cold here to contemplate. I’ve been thinking about going to the mall…but somehow it doesn’t sound fun. For my smile this week…well, Katie’s half sister came for a visit and we went for a walk…there were lots of smiles there. She’s still napping but when she wakes up I’m sure she’ll tell you all about it.

I keep all of my seasonal clothing in a cedar chest, so when I put my wool sweaters away, the shorts came out, even if it was too cold. Yeah, you are about in the same shape as I was yesterday – down to a single pair of jeans.
I’m sure Katie had a good time with her half sister. Looking forward to seeing her post about it.

Oh sooooooo not always true! I HATE shopping and my husband LOVES it. I especially hate when he comes with me to shop for anything…we always end up spending lots more than I want to and it takes 2x as much time to get done!

lol, I was waiting for someone to jump on that one! It is a stereotype, and can be a negative one when used in certain ways. Anyway, from the second half of your comment you must be a shopper like me – I know what I want, I find it right away and I am out of there in no time at all…
