The Weekly Smile for the 16th of May, 2022 #weeklysmile

Hi All! Let’s talk about the weather…. ;)

A lot of people around here have been complaining about how wet and cold it has been this spring. Truthfully, it has been a little cooler than normal, but not much. First, I find that most people have a very very short attention span when it comes to the seasons. There is also that we had slightly milder springs the last couple of years, though they weren’t the warmest I can remember. But, yeah, we have been trending a little cool.

Until last week.

The week started close to normal. And it warmed up from there. We had two days at around 90F/32C. And it was humid. We have also had some days closer to 80F/27C, which is still very warm for this part of the world at this time of year.

Although sleeping has been a little uncomfortable, and doing strenuous things outside has been a little restricted, for the most part it has been very nice. In fact, yesterday felt like a “typical” summer day. Even though it was very warm, it felt cool after 30+C weather. There was a nice breeze. the sun felt nice. I was in summer clothing. Etc. It could have been late June or mid July.

This week will get a little closer to normal for a couple of days before getting back up even hotter for the weekend.

So my smile is going from a very cool spring to mid summer over night.

What made you smile?

****

Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week.  Why don’t you share it?  I hope you can join in!

Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas.  If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity.  Don’t smile about the misfortune of others.  Don’t smile in a way to excludes others.  Make sure a 12 year old can read it.

To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile.  Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ).   You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me).  Note – I am no longer compiling the smiles into a weekly post as I used to – Sorry, I do not have time.

Hi Trent, we had a similar situation here in Prescott. It was super windy and cold, down to 35 in the mornings when we got up. Yesterday it got up to 90 and today 84. So maybe summer is here. That makes me smile. I have some beautiful plants on my patio and that makes me smile, too. :)

After a few really warm days we are going back to yo-yo weather with highs on Thursday in the 50s and almost 100 on Saturday! But, over all, even with the cool down, it is still summer-like :) I’m sure the patio plants are beautiful.
      Have a great week.

Another complaint – we’re in a 12 day period of the 90ties. Trying out different times for my excercise walk without being roasted:) But it’s soooo nice to have the air-conditioning working this year! My smile this week is the pastel I finally finished:)

I know I will be sick of 90 degree weather soon enough (it will be in the high 90s at the end of the week), but I know it isn’t as bad as a lot of places! People in New Hampshire don’t always have AC because it isn’t supposed to be hot here…

A few weeks ago the weather was so hot and humid. It has been raining for the past one week, we don’t whether they are pre-monsoon rains or rains due to a cyclone in the Bay of Bengal on the east coast. We live in the west coast. Anyway, the temperature have gone down a little and the hot days are like a dream:) Our monsoon, the South West monsoon, usually starts in the first week of June.

Some thunderstorms just went through, cutting the heat, but I don’t know if I could deal well with weeks of rain on end. And I know “hot and humid” is all relative – here in New Hampshire it is pretty cool compared to many places!

You can complain about the weather, but what good will it do? lol. Occasionally I have to do a smile like this one. It was amazing how quickly I went from Winter to Summer ;)

Farmers, people who rely on well water, and weekend campers, pay more attention to seasonal weather trends. We have a memory of weather trends from one year to the next. For all the rain over the last month, we’re trending rather dry (compared to last year) at the moment. We were also a little late in opening up because of the weekend weather trends. ;-)

Yes, there are people whose livelihood depend on keeping up with weather patterns. As to weekend patterns, well… I may have a short memory there, but it seems like it always rains the entire weekend, every year, forever ;) lol.
