Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I will get you a nice large mug of super strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage. It is a little cool and damp outside, but not bad. It will warm up today, bordering on hot, but the humidity will cut in the early afternoon. In other words, it will be a typical early June day. Oh, and a June day where? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as being from New Hampshire.
I had a very long weekend last weekend. I had a few hours off on Friday, Monday was a holiday and I took Tuesday off. I spent a big part of it down on Cape Cod. Saturday was wet, but I still was able to do a long walk in the woods. I also had a great kayak paddle on Sunday. I visited the beach and actually went swimming, though the water was warmer than the air at the time. Still, first time in the water this year. I did walks, both with and without dogs, and ran on Monday. I did some photography, but I am not sure how many good photos I got. Over all, it was nice.
I drove back Monday night (don’t ask about the drive, or rather “sit in traffic”). Tuesday I just relaxed, did a few small chores, walked, exercised and typical stuff. In other words, I tried to relax.
Which is just as well, since no more relaxing once Tuesday came…
Yeah, another nightmare week. Oh well, it is done.
Work left me pretty drained, but I did exercise and run. I did plenty of walks – the dogs are still on Cape Cod, so the walks were alone. I had massage on Wednesday. I read a little. but mostly just re-cooped from the hard days.
And that brings us up to today! I will run this morning before it gets too warm (I actually like afternoon runs better, but…). I hope to mow when it dries off enough. I have a ton of other chores to get done. Plus I need to be outside.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope your weekend is going well. If you have a coffee share I will try to stop by, but my blogging, both posting and reading, has been very low of late.
Natalie the Explorer is now the host of the weekend coffee share and she is doing a wonderful job. Stop in at this week’s main share page or go to the InLinkz-Linkup to see all of the other shares!
Running…. mmmm glad you do!
Walking, love it! Yet, my woods are the alleys where I find art.
All in all an exhausting weekend, just reading about it.
Who’s taking care of the dogs?
Where are the cats?
Why am I so inquisitive?
Hope you next, next week is better!
Ciao!

My wife (yes, I never talk about her on the blog…) stayed down on Cape Cod and kept the dogs with her – when we go different directions, she usually has the dogs. I had the cats (two went to Cape Cod with us, and I brought them home). I did have a lot of cat time when the dogs were gone…

Ahh cat time…love it! (except the litter!)

Yep, the cats are great, but they do have the little to clean…

I was in a hurry and missed it.. I am glad you walk in those alleys and find that art and bring it to light on your blog! Such wonderful finds.
The bad and good about running – there is little not even meds, that can control my blood pressure like running. If I skip a few weeks, it goes up. The good is that I enjoy it :)

Fantastic! You can control BP by running. How sensible.
I see ads on TV for all kinds of products that help folks control stomach acid, so they can continue to eat heavy fried foods, heavy meats, grease, fast foods …I mean it’s crazy what they show people happily eating, if they take the meds.
Why not just eat healthy?

Because the powers that be will not get as much of your money if you ate healthy! Or exercised. Or a billion other things that are good that the dissuade you from doing… (no, I’m not cynical ;) )

Trent, I should set you up as my motivational coach on the exercise front. It’s freezing here. I have the dog on my lap and the heater on. Outside is like a swear word. I’ve been getting a fair bit of writing and reading done.
Hope you have a great week and work settles down.
Best wishes,
Ro

A motivational coach might help, but so would an extra 4 hours a day ;) You are moving into winter while we are hitting summer. You might find our summer a little wimpy, but then when I look at your version of “cold”…

Hey Trent, I got my quieter week last week. Perhaps you weren’t the only one taking more time off and my customers broke fewer things.
Hope your turn for some P&Q starts tomorrow.

Thanks, Gary, just so many projects with such firm deadlines, it makes it tough.

Your time on Cape Cod sounds wonderful. It’s on my vacation bucket list. Someday…
I had a rough week at work too. That’s the downside of holidays–same amount of work, fewer days to do it. Glad you were able to fit in some exercise and relaxation. That and writing are my game plan for this weekend.

Being on Cape Cod is great. A couple of years ago we moved from a smallish cottage to a much bigger house, and, though it feels like home, it is slightly less relaxing. I think that is because it does feel like home!
I do have a few writing projects I need to get working on, but so far this weekend i have spent all of my time outside. Even the couple of hours mowing was better than sitting in front of a computer…
Hope your weekend is going well and you are getting a good balance of exercise, relaxation and writing done.

It sounds like you had a good time resting and relaxing. I think sometimes it’s good to be outside I love the outdoors. Although it’s warming up most evenings are a good time to sit in the backyard. Cricket found baby bunnies in the backyard last night but we did not realize what she found our dogs chase lizards so we never get too excited. Today Zoee found them so we had to make a tunnel with rocks around the nest to protect it from the dogs. Zoee wants to mother them Cricket would eat them and Daisy says they are too much trouble she will leave them alone. For now, they will be protected from the dogs. We have been getting clearing done in Livingston it’s a slow process when it’s all wooded. Now the tree plucker will come this next week and remove a bunch of trees out of the way for our shop/apartment building and thin out the trees in the yard because we want grass.

A few years ago Idina found baby bunnies. They were tiny! They were just under some leaves I hadn’t raked yet, but was meaning to – I’m glad I didn’t! She seemed a little surprised, but I think she wanted to mother them. I made a barrier to keep her out and watched her and didn’t have any problems. it is so funny, because she sees adult rabbits as prey!
I do need to be outside a lot. I spend as much time as possible outside, even when it is frigid. And it does help :)
Hope you are having a good weekend.

HI Trent, I am glad you had a good Memorial Day long weekend. I only learned this week that it is always on a Monday which is a great idea.

Thanks, Robbie. Having the long weekend is a good idea, and here Memorial Day weekend is considered the gateway to summer. That being said, I can understand how many think that takes the focus away from what it is about and puts it on having picnics and such…
I hope you are having a great weekend!

Trent, exercise saves us when we’re working hard and under a lot of stress! If you have to sit a lot for your job, exercise and just getting up and stretching will save your back. When you sit, you compress the disks in your back. I’m sure you know to take frequent breaks, stretch, exercise. Watch your stress level. The damage stress does is silent until it is too later! Love to read about your trips to Cape Cod. I’ve only been there once but so enjoyed it.

Thanks! I do try to take at least two walks, and three if I can, during the work day. I also only fill my glass a quarter full of water to force myself up to refill more often – little tricks to save my back while sitting :) But there are times when one meeting after another with no time in between is just too much…
After I go through my photos I will try to do a picture post. It might be mixed between Cape Cod and New Hampshire, but we’ll see.
Hope you are having a great weekend!

Hi T
Light roast coffee for me!
And I know those “sitting in traffic” drives well – blah
Cheers to a refreshing weekend

I’ve had worse traffic experiences, but I really thought I had left late enough to miss this one. Part two of sitting in traffic, an hour off of the Cape after 9 PM really took me by surprise!
Just a FYI – I am going to put up my first Bleak House post tomorrow!

Wow / tomorrow !
I was going to ask you about it.
I am not quite ready to share and was hoping to do it Tuesday or Wednesday

I have a total of 7 posts… I have a quick intro for today that really doesn’t talk about the book, is more about the challenge. I then 5 “essays”, though the first is a more in depth intro with details about the book. Next Saturday I have a short “end piece/recap”. I’m going to call today’s post my “main post” that I want people to link to so they are in place. By the end it will serve as a kind of table of contents because I will continue to update it as the week goes on. The last will also have a table of contents type thing on it.

Okay – I will make a post today too – mine will be much shorter as I am just going to get something up there!
Then I will post my second and final post later in the week
And Trent
I am sooooooo excited that you have 7 posts – and maybe it’ll inspire me to do one more (with my other two )
But if not – I am eager to see the essays and can feel your literary side is awake and running!!
That is inspiring before I even get to the posts
How cool

And I finished the book in May – by the way- and this week watched the 2005 miniseries again

I am not sure this one inspired these little essays, but… Looking forward to seeing what you post. I hope there is a lot of discussion and other posts around.
Great that you finished with a little time to spare instead of being like I was last year, reading 1/2 the novel in just a few days! lol. Anyway, i hope this all goes well :)

Hi t
I am not sure it is all bad to cram in a few days – but maybe if the cramming is done near a deadline that pulls from it as opposed to cramming early?
—
And I hope it goes well too – I started reading great expectations and had to stop because I didn’t want to get too far away from Bleak House and that story –

Maybe Great Expectations will be for next year ;) yeah, I know, I have gone back several times in the last couple of months and refreshed so I would remember what the book is about and be able to still make meaningful comments/contributions to the (hoped for) discussion.

Or we could pick a lesser known book? Or a shorter one for a change – hmmm

I hope this coming week goes better at work! Your long weekend sounded lovely though! You probably should have waited to drive home until Tuesday morning, I’m sure the whole world was driving home on Monday afternoon. We stayed home all weekend, Katie is struggling and we’re getting to the end I think. She wrote about how things are going in her (my) blog. She’s trying to let her fan club down easy.

I was originally going to drive home on Tuesday morning, that would mean driving through Boston rush hour traffic, and I have hit it so it was even worse that Monday’s drive… I left at 7:30 expecting the worst to be over. Maybe it was.
I did see Katie’s post. I feel really bad for her and you – never easy when the end is in sight.

Long weeks and hard days are unpleasant, but its good that you had time to recoup.
How is the book release coming? You on time and gearing up for it?
LikeLiked by 2 people
It was nice to have time to recoup.
I’ll admit that I have had more stress at work over the last three or four months than ever before and as a result I have done less creative work than ever before. I have done absolutely zero creative work since early March while I used to call a week without creative work a terrible dry spell. So, yeah, the first week of April when I did the cover reveal I still thought I could get something out in early June, but now I have no idea when I will get the mojo to pick up again. (I’m pretty much done except for formatting and such, but, since there is a table of contents, the formatting is the most frustrating part…)

Yikes, sorry to hear about the work versus creativity balance. Hang in there, it will swing back the other way. As for your book, you sound close. Not far off schedule. I will watch for updates…
Hope your weekend is going well. Thanks for the virtual coffee.

One day I will sit down and slog through that formatting crap – the last book went pretty smooth, but there was no ToC, so it was easier, but it did have two sections with different page numbering, so… We’ll see.
Thanks! I’ve been spending as much time outside as possible, which is nice, even when “outside time” = “mowing” ;)
