Hi all! Happy Fourth of July to all of my American readers out there! That includes me :) Anyway, this last week was a low key week with a lot to smile about, but with little that stood out. I started it on Cape Cod and finished it in New Hampshire. I didn’t do anything “special” in either place, but I do enjoy my routine of walking, running, etc. But I do have a smile that stands out. Unfortunately I can say very little about it…
If you have been reading my weekend coffee share posts the last two months you know I have bee insanely busy at work. There is a huge amount going on. One thing was a project that we had been working on for months. Well, that project finally wrapped up on Thursday. For the most part, at least. Wednesday and and Thursday were a lot worse than expected – we did pretty much the same thing in a different environment in May and it took four people two or three hours, even with a few minor goofs. This week we had six people working at least 10 hours (each) over two days to complete the same thing in Production. Ouch. But it is done.
A lot of other little things were accomplished over the last two months, so, with this major task out of the way, hopefully July will be a little easier.
A little. There is a large backlog to catch up on that was put off over the last few months. Sigh. I guess it is called “job security”… But at least this is done :)
So that is my smile for this week, finishing a huge project at work.
What made you smile?
****
Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week. Why don’t you share it? I hope you can join in!
Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas. If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity. Don’t smile about the misfortune of others. Don’t smile in a way to excludes others. Make sure a 12 year old can read it.
To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile. Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ). You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me). Note – I am no longer compiling the smiles into a weekly post as I used to – Sorry, I do not have time.
Congratulations on finishing your project, and may July be a breeze for you

There is something so satisfying when we finish something we have started :) I like your posts because I make it a point to write down what has made me smile in the days. It is good because we will never take anything for granted. Thank you. https://mukhamani.wordpress.com/2022/07/05/everyday-moments-sol-2020-49/

Finishing something, whether a big work project or something around the house, is always rewarding :) I’m glad the weekly smile gives you a reason to sit down and think about all of the positive things you have been doing!

Thanks, Diana! It is great for the project to be done, though I don’t see work slowing down… ;) My fourth was very low key and relaxing, which was perfect. I hope you had a good fourth as well :)

Spreading the word for Plastic Free JUly and Beyond is what makes me smile. Als the burst of colours blooming on our terrace and balconies as the monsoons arrived. (should share those images I guess!)
Kudos for wrapping up the project and being consistent with your exercises, Trent.
I wish you a relaxed week after last week’s grind.

Hi Natasha! Trying to go plastic free is a great cause. We as a species need to quit that plastic habit…
I’ll be by to see your smile in a few minutes :)

Happy 4th of July!! I am so happy your work project has concluded (mostly) and your work is so different than mine but I can understand the stress of being incredibly busy. Nice to get a little break!!
I’m smiling for you 😊 and I’m smiling because our weather has been great this last week. I’m hoping it stays this way for awhile! 😎

Thanks, Diana. Still a lot happening, but having this out of the way (for the most part) helps!
I hope you have a wonderful week and enjoy the nice weather!

Had a hurricane of activities last week with 5 family members over (luckily 3 of them were grandkids, they are easy to please! As usual I do art with them, and two of them tried out my potterywheel. Dad will look into a class for them:) So, today on the 4th am chillin’ to recover my sanity, haha – I already had too much BBQ and cake:):)

Glad the family visits went well. I guess with the potery wheel it would depend on the ages. I can see artistically minded kids loving it, though. I’ll be by soon :)

Happy 4th to you! Hmmm…what made me smile? Well, we had our last concert of the season, and it was outside in a park in front of a few hundred people. We never get to play for that many people. Our typical concerts have maybe 50 to 100 people attend. This past Friday we were the ‘opening act’ for the main act at the first concert in a series of outdoor concerts in the park, so the whole town turned out. Or at least it seemed that way to us. We only had about 20 musicians, and it was hard to hear each other, so there were several goofs, but most people out there were talking and half listening so they mostly didn’t notice. Our conductor said she got lots of compliments…so there you go! A smile!

That is a great smile! My guess is that even the people listening didn’t really notice any of the goofs.
