Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll grab you a large mug of a very strong dark roast. a cuppa tea or some other beverage, perhaps soemthign cool. It is not too warm yet, but not cool either. It will get pretty warm and humid so will feel hot later. I ran at 6:30 this morning to beat the heat. Oh, where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo as being from Cape Cod.
I drove down here on Wednesday evening. I worked all week, so the two days I was here was working. I did get a kayak paddle in Thursday after work and went to the beach on Friday. Today I will need to mow, perhaps hit the beach, maybe kayak again and will try to walk in the woods. A little vacation in one day!
For the most part it was a typical week. There was a lot of walking, with and without dogs, weight exercise, a little running, massage, reading, etc. Nothing too exciting. The weather has been nice.
I did set up a few window air conditioners on Thursday. It gets very humid here. The problem is, once you turn them on, it is hard to stop. Even though it has been relatively cool over night, opening the windows would fill the house with humidity and, well, just leaving them going is easier. When I leave, I will set them at like 78 F/25 C. That will keep the house relatively dry – mold and such is such a big problem here. It isn’t just that Cape Cod itself sticks far into the ocean, but my house is on a peninsula, surrounded by water. There is Horseshoe cove, Grand Cove, the Bass River and the inlet from the river to Grand Cove. But, of course, all of that water is great for kayaking ;)
That is about it. I need to mow before it gets too hot. Thanks for stopping in! If you have a coffee share, I will try to visit.
Natalie the Explorer is now the host of the weekend coffee share and she is doing a wonderful job. Stop in at this week’s main share page or go to the InLinkz-Linkup to see all of the other shares!
I’ll have an iced coffee – very dark coffee on ice in the Rubber Soul cup.
So, I finished reading a book, which is always a thrill, as I am a turtle reader.
Also, I decided the finale of “Princess Blue Holly in Erebos” would be under water and all the AGMs will have new mermaid outfits.
Thanks for the coffee, Trent!

It is very hot here, so I can understand iced coffee. You can also have it in the White Album, Let it Be, Sgt. Peppers or Magical Mystery Tour mugs if you’d rather ;)
Sounds like a great ending to the story cycle. i can’t wait to see the mermaid outfits!

Hmm, I’ll keep the Rubber Soul mug, and have future coffees in the other Beatles mugs!
Reading Merril D. Smith’s book of poetry, River Ghosts next. There’s 70 poems. That should take me a couple of months. I read 1 poem with my morning coffee. Then it is my thought for the day… or whatever.
YAY… mermaids. Okay, now that’s fun drawing! xo

Even though I read fast, I do often do things like the one a day poems.

It’s great that you have the option of air-conditioning your house. Your week sounds revitalising, with so much amazing nature at your feet. I hope the weekend was a great one. Cheers to another wonderful week! Thank you for the coffee.

I put off getting air-conditioners as long as possible, but it is just too humid… Funny that it is warmer in New Hampshire but I don’t need it as much here (I’m back).
It was a great weekend and I did all of those things I mentioned and more :)
I hope you have a wonderful week!

Hi Trent
Your post reminds me that air conditioners window units have come a long way!
I am amazed
And when we left Denver to move to fl
(22 years ago – wow)
This guy from our church was talking all about AC and advancements
I had no clue as to what he meant because the places we were at in FL from 89 on always had AC
But as the Years unfolded – I learned more about ac units and all that

AC has advanced a lot. Of course the more efficient they are, the more people use them and crank them lower. And, of course, as the price has come down more people can use them.
It is going to be in the 90s all week. My “office” in NH is by far the warmest room in the house. I may have to break down and put the window AC in… As I said, once it is in, it has to be used because it blocks the window…

Yes! I know what you mean about how it can block the window and too bad they are not easy to remove and put back in (and maybe future ones will be or they might come with little vents??)
—
And I heard somewhere in chins that they broke an energy use record this summer and someone sad it was because of all the little Ac units in use!

AC, Heat, etc (HVAC?) is the largest use of energy, so not surprised. They do have floor ACs that you run a hose to a window. They aren’t as efficient, but I can see where they would be useful.

Well I am very grateful for AC – back in 2002 – when living in San Jose CA- both rentals had no AC (we did a pool) but some days were miserable

Typically we have two weeks in NH that are misereable, and we are just starting one ;) It is going to be in the 90s every day up until Sunday, and then next week looks like upper 80s. I will most likely install the little AC in my office today, because that rooms will often get to 110 or 120 on the hottest days, so it is needed!

It is only 78 in my office right now and a nice breeze through the itty-bitty window, so I will put off as long as I can… We’ll see :)
Have a great day!

Hi, Trent – I’m jealous of your hot weather. Our spring and summer have been drastically cooler, and wetter, than usual. In May, I was feeling quite patient with this. Sadly, in mid-July, I am much more cranky with our dismal weather!

Send some of that our way! We did have a mild June and early July, but we had 8 or 9 days of 90+ F (well over 30 C) in May and will have 6 days in a row of those temps this week. The grass is all brown. Yuck. I want wet and cold! That’s why I live in New Hampshire instead of Texas or Arizona. lol. Hope you see some warmer, drier weather coming up :)

Your week has been very energetic, Trent! An early morning run in summer is always a great way to start the day.

I can’t run in the morning during the week,so getting those morning runs in on the weekends is great. Hope you had a good weekend.

Wow, I didn’t know you are surrounded by water being on the peninsula which is why there is so much wildlife there for you to photograph. ❤️ That’s so awesome!! I’m glad you have some AC as I would want some relief from the humidity and yucky mold. I’m so happy we have AC for our summer months. Have a great weekend at the Cape! 😀

Not many photos outside of my door, but plenty kayaking from the landings just a short walk from my house. One issue where we are now is I haven’t seen any deer – I think they know better than to come out here, while we used see deer at old place on the Cape all of the time. And the AC does make it easier, though I could survive without it. Hope your weekend is going well!

Yes, a little peninsula on a big peninsula :) Our location is great, even if the air is always a bit soupy.

A 6:30 run sounds nice. Its a great way to start the day. The kids and I are hoping to get some kayaking in on our summer holidays which are coming up. Can’t wait. Thanks for the virtual coffee, Trent.

The run was a great way to start the day :) I was surprised at how many people were out already, and how many were on the beach. I did get out for an hour or so on the kayak today. I hope you do get a chance to get out on kayaks on your holiday. Have a wonderful weekend :)

Our house is also on a peninsular so I feel your pain regarding humidity. We don’t have aircon units as the ocean breeze in summer is enough to cool the place down. Not this week …

I have heard it is pretty hot over there now! Last year was our third summer in this house and after having so much food go bad and such, we broke down and picked up these window units. There are days I love and days I think it’s a curse…
