Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a nice large mug of very strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage. It is relatively cool this morning but will get up to warmer, though not really very hot (for here in mid-August), temperatures later in the day. I guess it was very hot for a few weeks, so everyone is relieved by the cool temps. I was away, but I’ll get to that later. And if I am not away now, then where am I? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as being from New Hampshire.
I got back into the country Monday evening. I had been gone about 10 days, leaving Friday July 31 pretty late. Actually really late – we had a late flight to begin with and it was delayed for 3 hours, so we might not have left the ground until August 1. And then the flight back was delayed 4 1/2 hours. So, yeah… And where was I? Here is a hint. I tell you later.

Going back to work after 10 days was, well, it was not fun, but the week is over (I had 7 1/2 days off).
I have been unpacking and unwinding. I am just under half way through that fun task of going through all of the photos I took. I did a couple of quick surveys first, now I am looking at them all in Photoshop one at a time. A few more days of that.
Besides the flight bungles, the trip was very good. It was with family – 18 of us, ages from 3 to 89! I will talk about it more in a series of posts over the next couple of weeks.
One thing I will say is that Covid went through our party. Most of us were not hit very hard, but… I tested negative while there, but positive when I returned home. For me it was my throat being a little scratchy (not bad) and the jet-lag lasting a little longer on return home than usual. Since we were all exposed, we all wore N95 (or equivalent) masks.
I was off of my exercise routine the entire travel period, though I did stretches and light body-weight exercises every day. I did weight exercises yesterday for the first time since 7/31 and may do a very short run later today. On returning I did dog walks, and, of course, I walked some while traveling.
Here is another clue:

Any guesses? Hint, that is the Castle Aaaaarrrrrrggghhh from Monty Python and the Holy Grail (last scene of the movie). Outside of the film it is better known as the Castle Stalker and is located half way between Oban and Glencoe (first photo) on Loch Linnhe, located on the west coast of Scotland.
Anyway, I will be out and about today, getting back into things but avoiding people. I will be on and off of the computer and will try to stop by other people’s Coffee Shares as time premits :)
Thanks for stopping in!
Natalie the Explorer is now the host of the weekend coffee share and she is doing a wonderful job. Stop in at this week’s main share page or go to the InLinkz-Linkup to see all of the other shares!
(Note – I have not decided yet if my blogging break is over or if this is just a quick stop in to say “Hi!” We’ll see :) )
I am glad you had some time off and had a good time. Sorry to hear about the Covid. I am sure there were lots of sites to see and pictures to take. I have always thought Scotland looks beautiful. Did you board your animals or did someone come in and take care of them?

Hi Sonya. It was a great place to visit with gorgeous scenery. That pretty much the entire family caught Covid wasn’t great, but nobody was very sick, I was pretty much symptom-less, so can’t complain.
We boarded the dogs and had someone come in for the cats and bird. They were all happy when we returned home!

Really looking forward to hearing more about your trip and where you got to here in Scotland.

I loved visiting your country and hope to get back in the not too distant future to explore on my own instead of in a large group. I hope to start posting about it next week (still catching up on work and such).

Oh goodness! I can’t wait to learn more about this trip of yours and am so glad to hear you came out largely OK from your COVID twist! Hope your transition back into “the real world” is going smoothly and your week is a wonderful one!

Thanks! The transition is going slow (work has been very busy), but pretty much back. The trip was great, despite the bit of Covid thrown in. I hope to start going into more details next week :)

COVID–ugh. I know several people who got COVID either before a planned vacation (so they had to cancel) or on a planned vacation. Sorry you had to deal with it but glad you didn’t get super sick.
That castle! I want that castle! It would be such an amazing place for a writing retreat.

Yes, a perfect writing retreat – Nobody will ever bother you at high tide. My Covid was very mild. A couple of people in our group were a little sicker, but nobody terrible – we were all vaccinated and boosted, which helped.

This seems like an epic trip! And that castle, I do remember it from the movie. Thank you for sharing Trent. I hope your new week is treating you nice.

It was a great trip :) It is a very dramatic location for the castle, one you don’t really see in the movie – behind me as I take it is a huge mountain, which makes a great backdrop for photos from the water.
Thanks, I hope you are having a good week.

Welcome back and waiting for your posts on your trip. It must have been wonderful being with your near relatives. Those two places are beautiful. The hills look so quiet and beautiful.

Sounds like a great trip despite Covid.
You have to love how catching covid is almost as dull a topic now as catching the flu.
Still a bummer, but few lives are being lost it.
This thing may yet run out of steam completely.
But will the media ever tire of blowing it out of proportion?
I doubt that will ever happen.

It was very good trip. We were a little worried about my dad (the 89 year old), but after a rough day or two he pulled through pretty easily. You’re right, it is now pretty much like a cold, and a mild cold for me. I am glad the CDC loosened the recommendations, pretty much saying as much – it will be like a cold or flu with some people maybe getting seriously ill but most not. They should have done it a few months ago, but better late than never – it will help a lot when kids go back to school later this month or next.
Hmm, I guess I read different media – Back in May was the last time I saw anything except the CDC announcement. Well, and except how a few countries (read China and North Korea) are handling it. Back in May or June there was a big uptick in stories because a new, faster spreading strain came out, but when strain didn’t seem any more serious than the last, they pretty much dropped it.
Now I wish they’d drop monkey pox (as facts get out, they pretty much are, but…)
Anyway, it was a great little get away, despite some illness.

Beautiful scenery. Glad no one was seriously ill with the C. What a big group – whole clan head back to the homeland?

Yep, the clan has been in America for almost 250 years, but returning to the homeland for a little reunion. It is very beautiful over there. Thanks.

You had the best of all worlds as these isles are haven’t such hot weather …though that far north you’ll of missed the searing temperatures we are experiencing right now. Glad you are home safe and glad you enjoyed it. I would think it’s your type of place💜

It was a great little trip! It has been much hotter here in NH than usual (mid 90s F for weeks), so we hit Scotland between the heatwaves and it was nice and cool (low to mid 60s F as highs). I can handle that! And, yes, my type of place – must be the McDonald blood ;)

Many years ago, more years than I care to admit that I have existed, and within a year or so of us meeting, you went off to Edinburgh for brief bit…. I very much wished I could have hidden in your duffel for that one! lol. Yep, a great place for us Mc’s to go since I think we were all originally Macs.
