Hi All! Some of you may have noticed that I am not really back from my blogging break. I have still not caught up on my life after being away for a couple of weeks! Work is still backed up. And then there were other things that kept me from it, but some of those busy things are busy with a smile…
My niece and nephew from northern Maine have been visiting us at our Cape Cod house for the last few years, minus 2020 (covid restrictions). Even though we had just returned from Scotland, last week was the week for their visit. I was super busy and could not get any time off work, but did go down there for a few days (I can telework from that house).
It was nice to see them again. They are 13 and 16, but mature for their ages and pleasant company. I didn’t do a whole lot with them, but it was still nice. On my own on Cape Cod, I did a short (1 hour) paddle on the kayak and then spent an hour on the beach after they left to go home. Nice.
After spending 10 days with my side of the family family, it is nice to spend time with my wife’s family :)
So that was my smile, spending some time on Cape Cod with family.
What made you smile?
A reminder – although you can still put up smile posts on your own, I will not be putting up smile posts for the next two weeks.

Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week. Why don’t you share it? I hope you can join in!
Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas. If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity. Don’t smile about the misfortune of others. Don’t smile in a way to excludes others. Make sure a 12 year old can read it.
To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile. Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ). You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me). Note – I am no longer compiling the smiles into a weekly post as I used to – Sorry, I do not have time.

It sounds like you haven’t had time to catch your breath since your return from Scotland. Hope you have a less exciting week ahead so that you can enjoy a breather.

Thanks. I haven’t had time to breath, but I am planning a little break coming up, so hopefully I will feel more grounded after that is done :)

Hi Yvette. It has been a great month of travel and family. It’s been busy and the future doesn’t look any less busy, but that is part of what life is about :)

Glad you have taken a break to do other things. Important to spend time with family. I wish I’d done more of that. Scotland is a country that I haven’t seen and I would love to visit, but that ship may have already sailed. Pictures please. :)

It is important to get away from the blog now and again, and there are few reasons better than family :) The trip was to Scotland, and it is never too late – my dad is 89 and loved it (he was the reason behind the trip). I plan on doing 6 or 7 posts full of photos, most likely starting tomorrow. I hope everyone asking for photos aren’t sick of them by the time I am done ;)

Family time is always good (well, usually!) and family time ON Cape Cod? Really really good! Not to mention family time in Scotland! Pretty amazing all around.

So far August has been super busy, but, as I said, a lot of it in a very good way… Family time is always nice, and the family travels were great.
I hope you had a good weekend and have a wonderful week ahead.

Glad you got to spend time with family! My weekly smile was getting out in the desert for some hiking on Saturday. We had a couple of cool, rainy days, and everything is so green. It was lovely.

It is raining here and I hope will be green tomorrow! Well, OK, I won’t lie, the trees and everything are green, but the fields and lawns are browner than I have ever seen them…
Glad you got away for a hike! Also glad you got some cooler weather.
It’s nice spending a bit of time with family (as long as there is an end ;) ).
