Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a mug of very strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or come other beverage. It is cool out, but not as cool as would be expected – it still feels like a summer morning with autumn a distant dream. And where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as being from New Hampshire.
An odd week over all. I returned from a long weekend on Cape Cod on Sunday (if you saw my Smile post you know I spent that long weekend with my wife’s family). Work was just insane this week. It wasn’t super hot nor as humid as I’ve seen, but I had a hard time getting motivated to exercise. We also had some rain on three different days (yeah!!! the ground was browner than I have ever seen it), which made outdoor activity difficult. So just odd.
So, what did I do?
Well, some dog walks, though they weren’t into it as much as usual (heat? Humidity?). I did do some exercise, but only ran on Sunday (I will run today). I did a few chores around the house. Met with neighbors, including the little “Men of Wilton Monday Beer Meeting” on Monday. On Tuesday our Lions Club had a dinner at someone’s house. Usually these summer meetings are very short, but they stretched it for hours and I didn’t get to bed until after 11, which makes my 5 AM wake-up difficult…
Some of you may have seen that I’ve already started to post photos of Scotland (overview post is here). I have put up 4 posts in total and have 3 more planned. It has been fun revisiting.
I have also been reading a bit.
Anyway, it seemed like a super busy week without a second to myself, and yet when I write about it, I have little to say. Such is life.
Thinking of that, I just got pulled away for two hours! But I am back to finish this up and post it before I have to leave again. Which I need to do now….
Thanks for stopping in! If you have a coffee share I will try to visit.
Natalie the Explorer is now the host of the weekend coffee share and she is doing a wonderful job. Stop in at this week’s main share page or go to the InLinkz-Linkup to see all of the other shares!
Out here in the Oregon rainforest, we never warmed up, Trent. It’s been the strangest summer of wearing sweaters with everyone else sweltering. I’ll bet you’re eager for the cooler weather of autumn. I was intrigued by your mention of Scotland photos. I’m heading over to learn more.

It is odd how the weather patterns have given everyone something different than usual. Truthfully, we have had more 90+ days than usual, and a deeper drought, but most of the summer has been pretty typical. But I am ready for autumn! Thinking of Scotland, I did enjoy being in a place with jacket weather ;)

Hi Trent,
Thanks for popping by to check my stream-of-consciousness piece. It’s my second go and I was pleased with the results both times. I have been hearing about the Northern Hemisphere folk struggling through the heat and the temperatures have indeed been extraordinary, even from an Australian perspective. We’re starting to come out of Winter here. We’ve just returned from a four day trip to and around Bathurst which is about 200 km WNW of Sydney. I’ve written one post and more are to follow. Here’s the link: https://beyondtheflow.wordpress.com/2022/08/28/exploring-bathurst-australia-a-trip-back-in-time/?wref=tp
Hope you have a good week ahead.
Best wishes,
Rowena

Hi, Rowena – I did enjoy the story, and I tend to think that when kids who have it all do something bad, it is either an act of rebellion against their parents or they are bored, perhaps both….
It has been an odd summer, but autumn is almost here…
I think I did see the post about your four day tour, but I will stop over again, to be sure.
Hope you have a wonderful week!

Yea – –
I too could use less summer heat. I can’t complain about work given the time I’ve spent away from it, but I’m road weary and anxious to get back to better eating & exercise which is tough when you live in a car for so many days.

Too much time in a car – I am sure you are ready to move! It’ll reach the 90s again for a few days this week, hopefully for the last time this year. There typically is that Labor Day heatwave, so nothing new there, I’m just tired of it and want to return to Scotland’s jacket weather ;)

Ah yes,
Next summer in Scotland perhaps. That sounds perfect for what I’m feeling.
My jacket, cooler moist air and a simple trail to follow. I’m so ready for that.

It always hard settling down after holidays. What trial beer and lion meetings 🤣🤣

Bouncing back is always tough, so I’m glad I can finally settle down for a pint with my neighbors ;) The Lions meeting, though – after sitting in meeting after stressful meeting all day, the last thing I wanted was a 4 hour Lions meeting! Not relaxing! Makes me want to go back to the neighbors house for another beer lol.

Work has been hectic for me too, so I end up with the same problem: busy, busy, busy, but nothing to say, because no one wants to hear about work (So then I hopped on Zoom for another meeting, then answered a bunch of email, and… zzzzzz….). Now I’m off to look at your Scotland photos–been waiting for more of those.

I hate talking about work on the blog, but since 2022 has been the most hectic year in my career (so far), I can’t help but mention it. And then, it seems like 2022 has been hectic for everyone, not just me. Is it the world trying to catch up after the two strange Covid years? Hope you enjoy (or have enjoyed) the Scotland photos!
