If We Were Having Coffee on the 8th of October, 2022 #weekendcoffeeshare

Hello and Welcome! Come on in and pour yourself a mug of super strong dark roast, a cuppa tea, a hot cocoa or some other beverage. Sorry that I am a little useless here: my cat Alexander is holding me hostage by sitting on my lap. I think he has spent more time there in the last two days than in the last two months… Oh, yeah, I forgot, put your wet stuff over there. I think the rain will stop before noon. And where are we with cats and rain? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as being from Cape Cod.

Another busy work week. Enough said.

Over this last week I got a hair cut, had massage and had a doctor’s appointment. The Dr. appointment was short and sweet – I’m goign to live ;) (More seriously, the main reason for the appoint was blood pressure, and it was measured by the nurse at 120 over 76, so not much of a problem there, so no need to start my meds again.) I drove down here on Wednesday night with the two cats.

The dogs are in Maine, so no dog walking, but plenty of walks on my own. I ran a few times, including actually on the beach. I always talk about running on the beach access road. On Thursday I tried to go onto the beach itself. Nope. The hardest sand was on a slope and was not hard enough to support running. Oh well, a nice experiment. I have also kept up my exercise routine.

I had most of the afternoon off yesterday, and yesterday was by far the nicest day of the week, so I spent it outside. On my morning walk the water was smooth as glass, so I went kayaking after work. It was no longer smooth in the afternoon. In fact, it was one of the roughest paddles I have had in a few years. After my paddle, I showered (I was soaked from all of the water splashing on me) and then took a long walk in the woods. Nice.

Besides all of that, it was pretty much life as normal – reading, living, etc.

That’s about it. I have a ton of stuff to do around the house and hopefully I will be able to get out this afternoon.

That is, if I ever get Alexander off of my lap….

Thanks for stopping in! I will try to make the rounds of the coffee share, so may be by for a visit.

Natalie the Explorer is the host of the weekend coffee share and she is doing a wonderful job. Stop in at this week’s main share page or go to the InLinkz-Linkup to see all of the other shares!

Running in the sand was not something I could ever get my body comfortable with. I love walking the beach though. Anyway, thanks for the virtual coffee. I hope you got all your tasks complete over the weekend. Have a great week, Trent.

My brother has a condo near a beach that is perfect for running. After trying it on the beach near my house, I understood why I see so few people doing it! Well, after I went back to the access road I did see a woman running on the beach, but there were many more on the pavement! The weekend did go pretty well and I was able to relax some. Hope you had a good weekend as well. have a great week!

I use to go kayaking in college and in my early twenties. It’s always been fun. For years I’ve been thinking about getting a kayak — namely an inflatable one for storage reasons.

I really enjoy kayaking. There is just being on the water and occasional seeing wildlife. But I often go at a pretty quick pace, so there is the exercise component – a great way to move in an environment that is anything but boring. Anyway, I think picking it back up would be good :)

To have your blood pressure where it should be is a wonderful thing. Maybe Alexander is part of the cause of that ? :) I hope you’re weekend is wonderful. Thank you for the coffee!

That’s what Alexander tells me. When I ask him how I can do those other things that help lower BP, like walking and exercising, he replies that they are overrated and a cat on my lap is all I need…

Glad you blood pressure was normal. Mine is up and down, but I think part of that is that they use several different types of cuffs, machines, etc. They are all different. So each nurse here gets different readings.

I do have to keep moving, not just for BP but for sanity ;) Alexander says a cat’s purr helps with BP, and who am I to question it? Cats are a harder read than dogs…

It was pretty cool most of the week, though yesterday was very warm (for October). Today was in the mid 50s, but the sun felt great – I even did another paddle in the kayak. And, yes, the cat is back warming my lap right now…

Alexander does ask for a high salary for his work on my stress and blood pressure. He demands scratches on the neck and behind the ears, plenty of kibble, a lot of play time with special toys and other such things. Thanks! Hope you are having a good weekend.

Thanks! Even though I have always been more of a mountain person (proved in my recent trip to Scotland!), I enjoy spend time on the water and sand, though doing something, not just sitting… Yes, Alexander reminds me that it has been proven that cats are beneficial for blood pressure ;)

Glad to hear your blood pressure is good. I would guess that the walking/kayaking/ running/ hanging out with nature all have positive effects on your health. I’m also pretty sure that having a cat on your lap lowers your blood pressure as well. Maybe that was Alexander’s plan. :)

Thanks, Nancy. I am glad that I really enjoy all of those activities that are good for my health and help my BP. Of course Alexander tells me it is all him, and he may be right, but I can’t exercise, run, kayak, walk, etc. if he is sitting in my lap ;) Hope you are havign a good weekend!
