Hi All! This week I am going to do a double smile.
The first half is that it is mid-October, my favorite month of the year! It was a beautiful weekend. It was warm for New Hampshire in mid-October, but not out of character. The sun was shining and the sky blue, though not the deep, deep blue we will most likely see later this week when it will be sunny but cooler – I have often talked about October Blue Skies and there is no color quite like it.
The autumn colors this year were a bit odd. The trees stayed green longer and when they did turn, it seems many went from green to brown and fell off pretty quick. That being said, it was a gorgeous weekend not only in weather, but in fall foliage.
Beautiful October weather and great color always brings a huge smile.
My second smile is about writing.
I used to write quite a bit and really enjoyed it. But then I grew a little depressed about it and wrote less and less. It kind went down to a trickle and I have only been writing the weekly 100 word Friday Fictioneer stories lately, and skipped plenty of those.
I have recently been revisiting my writing. I have come up with an idea for a new story and wrote an 11,000 word synopsis last week. Later in the week, I sat down and wrote a 6,000 word short story. So a lot of words written last week!
Yes, I have had weeks that have been much more prolific, but since I have been in a writing drought for almost two years, it was great to just sit down and let the words flow.
So those were my smiles for the week, enjoying a beautiful October weekend and a return to writing.
What made you smile?
****
Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week. Why don’t you share it? I hope you can join in!
Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas. If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity. Don’t smile about the misfortune of others. Don’t smile in a way to excludes others. Make sure a 12 year old can read it.
To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile. Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ). You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me). Note – I am no longer compiling the smiles into a weekly post as I used to – Sorry, I do not have time.
These news are very nice and delightful Trent, it is always good to smile and enjoy the things you do. As for me, blogging about fashion and style puts a smile on my face, I give great advice and tips for dressing the part, you should check my blog. Writing and working also makes me happy, it is better than looking at the walls and lying idle
Great post ♥🔥🔥👏

Thanks, I do think it is important that we all look around and find things to smile about :)

What made me smile is that with the comment you made “Sometimes you just have to know where to stand,” I somehow helped getting you to write.
Double Smile; I reblogged it!
Thank you for your creativity, Trent!

Thanks, Resa! It is odd how and when the muse decides to strike, but this is the second time writing a comment on your blog has made her strike a spark. I guess I need to comment on your blogs more often ;)

Hmm, just comment when it happens, just like it always happened. Muses are ….amused. 😉

lol, yep, I will comment when I have something to say and the muse will strike when she strikes… I do think you are right – us mortals amuse the muses…

I am glad you are writing a lot again. And I really like to see the beautiful colours of autumn in your place. There is so much to smile about, we just have to be conscious about what is happening around us. Thank you.

Thanks, it is great to get back into the swing of writing again :) Even though this isn’t the prettiest year for fall foliage ever, it is still very nice – this after noon was beautiful.
There is a lot to smile about, sometimes we just need to slow down and look around to see it :)

First my link, because it did not work two times:) Right now I need to stay away from writing, because have started heading up an art group that takes much of my time (and schedule painters painting in the Sunday service at church). but it is fun. Wishing you success with writing
Oh and my weekly smile is the story behind the painting I have up for this week:)

Odd, I wonder why the link-back didn’t work – might have gone to spam. Heading up the art group sounds fun. Thanks, I’ll be by in a few minutes.

What’s made–and right now making!–me smile is the soundtrack for The Peanut Butter Falcon. I haven’t watched the movie, but instead found the soundtrack looking for albums by a specific artist.
This soundtrack is magic through noise-canceling headphones! When it plays, it’s like a tiny orchestra has taken up playing right in my brain; while that orchestra is playing, none of the usual noise with which I struggle gets through. I love it so much!

I never heard of the movie so just looked it up – sounds very interesting. I also listened to a few tracks on Youtube. I don’t know why, but there is something about it that reminds me of an updated O Brother, Where art thou? – I always that that was a great soundtrack. And a good movie. Interesting that the plot in both movies shares many similarities (two or three people running from the authorities to find something that may not be real and ending up as a kind of family.)

Same!!! One of my ex-boyfriends used to listen to that soundtrack a lot, and I keep intending to buy that. I’d best do that now,
before I forget yet again …

I watched the movie again about two years ago, but it has been ages since I listens to the soundtrack. I should probably rip to my itunes…. (yes, I have it as a cd)

Look forward to the YA story you mentioned. My smile is we had our first snow. Very pretty and no accumulation.

Thanks, Rebecca. I’m not sure if I’d be smiling about a mid-October snow, though perhaps would at the “no accumulation” part… I do get October snows on occasion, but I still think it is too early…

They are common in this neck of the woods. MN once had a Halloween blizzard!

About 20 years ago we had a Halloween blizzard that was by far the most damaging snow storm I’ve lived through – over three feet of very wet, heavy snow while all of the oaks still had all of their leaves – many broken branches and trees, most electric lines had to be replaced, etc. Nope, never want to see that again!

Yes, it was a biggie in 1991 for Minneapolis. It is too early for that kind of snow. Agreed.

Good to hear about the writing, Trent. Here in Spain, the autumn weather is perfect: blue-skied, golden mornings and later, so lunch on the patio, overlooking the cerise Bougainvillea. What’s not to like?! Cheers.

Thanks. It sounds like wonderful over there in Spain, and I am sure you have a beautiful view. I think autumn is great where ever you are.

Sounds like you had a pretty great week! Here the colors are FABULOUS this year…we’re just at the beginning of the end of the maple trees, but those are always so brilliant, when they turn, that you want that phase to last till next spring! Outside right now I have brilliant red and yellow and the birch trees are combination green and yellow. The oaks are just turning to that reddish brown gold color. It’s been a wonderful fall! So that has made me smile a lot, especially since I did my Walktober walk up in Midland and got to see lots of color on the way up, on the way back down and during my walk! Now if we could just skip the snow thing. It’s snowing in Western Upper Peninsula, Ironwood…I think they got several inches overnight. Sigh. Wait…that doesn’t belong in a smile post….unless you count the fact it’s not snowing HERE!

My mom said that northern Ohio is seeing one of their most colorful autumns that she can remember. It is not bad here, just not nearly as good as some years. And I did enjoy being out in it :)
Far too early for snow!
Have a great week!
